Dolly Wink Long Mascara

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011 | 50 Comments

Went to Maruichi Market last week. Not sure what to expect after the Japan disaster. Not sure where they receive shipments from, you know? Surprisingly they had more in stock than usual! New stock too! Ok I was really surprised. Nearly all main scents of バスロマン bath salts, magazines like JJ, ViVi, Sweet, Glitter and so on, loads of breads and hair dyes, and even the apple vinegar drink I like that’s often out of stock!

Annnnnd Dolly Wink Long Mascara!!! They’ve never had Dolly Wink goods in. Well, I’ve never seen any and I go about twice a month or more.

Dolly Wink ロングマスカラ

I don’t have a “proper” review of this really.
I tried it Saturday & then again today. It’s a fiber mascara. Really I only ever LOVE fiber mascara these days. I was pretty happy with it on my top lashes. It’s easily build-able and doesn’t clump as much as other fiber mascaras I’ve tried. Nothing amazing just “nice & decent.”

Bottom lashes though….. Whoa love it!
Love it love it love it! The best bottom lash fiber mascara I’ve ever used. Didn’t clump them up completely, didn’t rub off or smudge throughout the day. Made them crazy long without dramatic clumping. I would buy this as just a bottom mascara for myself again, no lie!

Why packaging so cuuuuute?!
This, like the eyeshadow has a fold out how-to info insert. Cosmagic Deco Cheek blush had something like this too. It’s nice. It adds to the buying experience lol.

But looking at all the ads for it, it’s obvious for “best results” you use both the “Long” and “Volume” fiber mascaras together. Of coooooourse. So if by some miracle I see the Volume version in the market I’ll buy it too. It has a more interesting brush anyway. This stuff is good, I dunno… I hate import markup because it makes a drugstore product costlier so that weighs heavily against it when considering re-buying, LOL. Oh well. I might buy it again even at markup… guess we’ll see.

Here’s the ranking @cosme

Woah, I googled Maruichi Market…I’ve passed by that shopping center before, never stopped by though. Going to have to now! This is awesomeee, thanks! And lovely photo, it looks like that mascara is worth taking a peek at. How much was it?

Awe I feel bad because TaigaBooks used to be right next to it & you never got to visit it then ;_;. This was $20. Same price as buying online except no shipping fees Often I see it online for 22~24$ tbh.

Oh man, did they sell J Mags? Wish I had known about that place before, would of saved a grip on buying magazines online ;/

They used to sell a ton of Japanese Magazines, I never had to buy online :(

What a nice surprise then!~ I think your eyes are gorgeous, and the bottom lashes really are more defined.

Ahh, fiber mascara. How would you compare this to the Imju Fiber Wig? (if you’ve tried it before, of course! haha)

I’ve tried dejavu’s “Lash Knockout” version actually! (http://www.dejavu-net.jp/products/)

It’s about the same except Lash Knockout’s fibers feel heavier and clump more quickly. With Dolly Wink it’s much lighter and you can build up for a while without as much clumping or weight. My bottom lashes look fewer and more dramatic with Dejavu’s compared to Dolly Wink’s where they look more plentiful and sorta airy long.

I was quite disappointed with my previous fiber mascaras but maybe I’ll give this one a try, especially since you said it’s great for bottom lashes =D

jenny said

I do feel this one is lighter than other fiber mascara I’ve tried. What was disappointing about the ones you used? I know everyone’s lashes are different/have different needs.

OH! So Maruichi has decided to sell the magazines now?? Maybe I missed a post about this……haha. I almost consider taking the long drive up to get the Kracie Naive shampoo and conditioner…mm peach. I’ve never tried Dolly Wink, but maybe one day. You look so cute in your photo! Are you wearing a track jacket? :p

jenny said

I don’t think I really dedicated a post to it or anything since most my magazines I have subscriptions to. I did note back in December or something about buying JJ there though. They don’t have ALL the same ones before. Mostly otona style magazines.

Yea it’s W♥C brand’s jacket

Did you? Hm.
Before I forget, don’t think me crazy, but I had a dream about us last night. o_o We donated our change for a magazine called Cherie at the actual company and shopped black friday together. LOL

which is your FAVORITE fiber wig mascara?? i’m nearly out of the mascara (regular, not fiber wig or anything) and i wanna try something new…

BTW OMG
I ALREADY CAN SEE A LITTLE SPOT OF THE BOTTOM OF MY BENEFIT PRESSED POWDER WTF how quickly do you go through this stuff?? i feel like i am doing something wrong

Favorite would probably be L’Oreal’s Beauty Tubes. It’s a good daily fiber mascara. It stays put and comes off the easiest. Has decent length and volume but isn’t a miracle worker. For volume Maybelline’s “Falsies is really nice but a bit hard to remove compared to other fiber mascaras and can smudge a little after an 8 hour day. I’m wearing Dejavu’s Lash Volume today. It’s so heavy omg. I dunno, the more I use Dolly Wink’s the more I like it as a good daily mascara. Ah but the import price, gaaah.

I have to say when I ready about your powder I thought, “that’s strange.”

How are you applying it? With the pad or a large brush? I use a large kabuki brush to apply mine. I swirl it around about 3 or so times and repeat about 3~4 times as I apply and I don’t see the base until at least 8 weeks or so in. I use mine every day too. I replace mine like 3 times a year since it still lasts (and thank god has never crumbled) even when the base begins to show.

Sidney said
March 23, 2011 @ 4:34 pm

okkkk~ i haven’t seen any dolly wink stuff in the regular ‘drug store’ type things here, but now i want to really hunt for it!

i was using the pad just because of convenience; i also end up applying it at least twice a day. i do it once in the morning as i get ready for school and then i go to the gym at around noon and shower, so i apply my makeup once again. if i go out that night i may have washed my makeup off so then i’ll be applying it a THIRD time in a day. i’m thinking maaaaybe it also has to do with using the pad instead of a brush. i have a kabuki brush i used a couple of times, so now i’ll try to use only that and see if it makes it last longer…

thank you, jenny! ^^

jenny said
March 23, 2011 @ 6:15 pm

Ah I see! Yeah let’s see that’s probably using it twice as fast as me especially because of the sponge because that applies it thicker. It’s funny, I rarely use the sponge but I keep it in there for some reason hahahaaa. I hope that’s the reason, mine lasts longer than any of my old powders. … then again I always used the powder puff with those *realization hits*

How are fibre mascaras different from usual ones? I’ve noticed my majorlica majorca one is made up of pieces of fine stuff… is that it? o__e

jenny said
March 23, 2011 @ 8:07 am

That’s exactly it! Instead of just a liquid formula that dries directly on your lashes these have fibers in them that stick together and make it easier to build up volume or length because adding bulk to your lashes instead.

WAH~ You look so pretty!! I am not very good at using mascara for my bottom lashes :( It’s probably because mine are uber short.

jenny said
March 23, 2011 @ 8:08 am

I have a hard time even though mine are long because most mascara will smudge and give me raccoon eyes if I put them on my lower lashes :(

March 23, 2011 @ 2:28 am

I’ve wanted to know how it works or not so I’m happy with your review! I might go out and buy it now~~~

and yes the packaging is SO adorable! that’s why I adore Dolly Wink cosmetics even more >//A//

Love your lashes, your eyes! You have beautiful big eyes. I “hate” my lashes… Mascara never seems to work on them. After a while my lashes just get back into their normal position… :( Anyway if I get a chance to I might try this out as well. Just don’t know where to get it from.

Why does mascara always clump your bottom eyelashes? I always have that trouble too. The Dolly Wink Mascara looks so good

jenny said
March 23, 2011 @ 8:17 am

I only use fiber on my bottom lashes or else it smudges too badly. Mine clump easily because they’re so close together and fine =Y

jenny said
March 23, 2011 @ 6:18 pm

Hahahaha ikr! I really wasn’t expecting this to be that different but its main characteristic really is no clumping :O which is so rare to find in a fiber mascara.

Nice! I’d like to try that Dolly Wink mascara…sounds solid.
My local Japanese market doesn’t have much in the way of pharmacy. No bath salts or make up just hair dye =/

jenny said
March 23, 2011 @ 7:30 pm

The hair dyes are so popular, my market used to only carry those for the longest time. Now they have a little makeup and a pretty big bath salt section NOW. Really grown~~

duuuuuuuude you look so freaking cute in your picture I just wanna run over and glomp you and squee (sorry if I sound like a super creep lol). Gotta agree, the lower lashes look FAB. Whenever I put mascara on my lower lashes, I always manage to fail and smudge on one eye fml. And I’ve belatedly realized my lower lashes stick straight out so I get long sticking straight out lashes which are still pretty much invisible/look like there’s no mascara since they stick straight out instead of curling downwards =.=
btw, I think you totally qualify as being an ulzzang since you have no plastic surgery nor rely on lots of myspace-esque poses and lots of photoshop and liquifying

Aww the packaging it’s so lovely! Yep, maybe the volume version will have a greater impact on the top lashes… but having a good mascara for bottom lashes is worth having too!
I recently bought a defining mascara that I only use on bottom lashes because it gives no volume at all. I felt a bit disappointed when I first tried it but by other hand I’m happy that at least it’s good for something! xD

I’m very curious about the Dolly Wink products, like the epic orange blush! I must try them someday! ^^

You look beautiful, I’m loving your hairstyle so much!! ♥

Hi Jenny, when exactly do you go to Maruichi? Everytime I go there, all the mags I want are usually gone :( Do you know when they restock? Thanks!

jenny said
June 13, 2011 @ 9:02 pm

I’m sorry, I really don’t know but seems they restock every 2 weeks with different titles. They’re really nice people. Maybe you could call ahead first? I tend to go on Saturday or Sunday mornings.
