A Quiet Weekend with Some Shopping

Monday, May 16th, 2011 | 57 Comments

Hola~~~

So it’s raining… forever, at this point. All weekend into the next. Boo. It’s always rainy this time of year. Our rainy season

So Saturday I went on a hunt for the tote and shoes. Well win~lose. UO didn’t have the shoes in store. And online the review says the sizing is really off and since they only have full sizes and I wear a half I’m calling it quits. I’ve already got some white flats that will work for now. I keep them at work but I guess I’ll bring them home in case I want to wear them after work.

The tote was a better outcome. I went to the LLBean store to figure out which size and length I wanted. Then ordered it online today with monogramming. Really looking forward to a new work bag. Mine has loose seams and I wish it were a little bit bigger sometimes. So the new bag should work out great.

Shopping outfits, kept them low key since everything I did was early morning and home by noon for lunch.

Blue Top - Zara
Army Green Khakis - H&M
Black Studded Heels - H&M
Black Quilted Bag - Yesstyle
Black Watch - Fossil

I bought a new collar necklace at F21 and brown barrettes at Target. Cheap but nice to have. I wore them both Sunday. I wanted some basic barrettes after seeing some from Dazzlin. Plus they look cute on short hair (which lacks a ton of style options) and it’s a good way to show on my earrings. I didn’t go through the pain for nothing!

Lace Shoulder Blouse - H&M
Glittering Black Knit Cardi - Old Navy
Nude Color Camisole - Zara
Distressed Shorts - W♥C
Black Opaque Tights - S-leg
Black Wedge Oxfords - Aldo
Black Quilted Bag - Yesstyle
Gold Collar Necklace - Forever 21
Gold Logo Disc Studs - Marc by Marc Jacobs

I also picked up a $6 bracelet from Forever21 that reminded me of a Dazzlin version I really liked. Not a bad “look for less” moment Not that the Dazzlin version at face value is expensive, but for me it would be (shopping fees + double shipping.) It’s all about location, location, location.

Thank you for to the buyers of my sales post . Really made it an enjoyable experience!

Update
Someone commented that Firipa put up some sales yesterday including the same CO&LU overalls if anyone who missed out on mine is interested

Your outfits are so adorable !! = u = b
And that blue top is super cute, too.
I’ve noticed that F21 has gotten way cuter over the years, well where I live anyway. Not to say that everything is cute, but most of their stuff is ~

Yeah some of their seasons I just really love! It helps they opened up internationally esp. Tokyo. When they started catering a bit to Japan trends it got really cute!

Oh I always love your outfit posts! You have the cutest style ever!

And I feel your pain on the icky weather thing! I’m a little south from you, down in Norfolk, VA but its not raining here, its just all cloudy for… well… forever! The gloomy weather was exciting for about a day and now its just bumming me out!

This time of year blows in the area doesn’t it!? Always gloomy or wet. Doesn’t feel much like spring then BAM SUMMER HEAT! I’m looking forward to the “bam.” LOL

Oh gosh you are so right!!! Hah I hate this time of year! I so wish we got an actual spring! I have so many cute dresses that go neglected until I try to force them into being fall dresses because of the fact that it goes from freezing to muggy and hot. Ewww!

And yeah I feel you on the waiting for the BAM! I wish it would just happen already! Summer is taunting us!!

i’m dumb ~ sorry for the ‘cut off’..
here’s the message:

I hate that it’s raining - such a horrible way to start the beginning of the week! TT_TT

Finding/choosing the right pair of shoes is always extremely hard for me for some reason.. it’s horrible that you couldn’t get your shoes though ~ Yet it’s really great that you found the perfect tote for work! a real win-lose…

was at Target yesterday for shoes + a bag ~ happy that i got them both! i feel like my mission to spend money is complete! LOL

The Forever21 bracelet is pretty similar to the Dazzlin one - their both so cute! a good compromise!

Would your wedges from Aldo happen to be the Gron style (http://www.aldoshoes.com/us/clearance/womens-shoes/wedges/77014507-gron/96)? I’m just curious because they’re on sale and I’ve sort of been eyeing them recently… Wondering how comfortable they are.

jenny said
May 18, 2011 @ 8:52 am

Yup that’s them! Well mine are pretty comfy though I have 2 sets of gel inserts in them. I always add insoles etc to my shoes And I’m not sure if you have any other tall wedge shoes but walking in them might take some getting used to if these are your first

It is currently pouring here as I type this, so I know what you mean Hate this dreary depressing weather!
That said, the blue Zara top looks lovely with your skin tone & new hair colour ♥ J’adore! & aren’t collar necklaces fun? Love how such a simple piece can really offset an outfit~

Oh I’ve been wanting a monogrammed LL Bean tote for ages but was never sure about the size. Which one did you go for? I was thinking medium with long straps…

jenny said
May 17, 2011 @ 10:34 am

The bags are sorta named poorly imo. The “small” is more like mini and the “medium” is more of a small. I went with long straps & large but I do need it to carry my purse, shoes, and travel umbrella. If I were to use it as a purse I’d probably get the medium short handles.

that second outfit looks so much like what i wear every day but i look so much more cutesy-mature with the button down and ‘cleaner’ jewlery (i mostly only have long, dangling necklaces). need more button-downs!!! (is there another word for those? i can’t think of one and my boyfriend wants to know, herp derp english forgetting moment)

personally i like the f21 bracelet. i think i just ‘lighter’ floral prints. though the round-ness of the dazzlin on is really attractive~ both are just really pretty!

jenny said
May 17, 2011 @ 11:10 am

I either say button up or blouse. Usually blouse implies it’s not as casual as just a “top” LOL, idek, English is a useless language!

I agree. When I bought the bracelet I said “Just wish it were round like the Dazzlin version” but I like the print/design better.

Jenny, your hair with the barrettes is really cute. Also, do you like braided woven sandals much like swedish hasbeens because I found a cheaper brand! and they are exactly like the sky high braids, but I’m sure you can find another pair~ I just purchased white ones!

jenny said
May 17, 2011 @ 11:13 am

I’d love to see the shoes you purchased! I’m not too familiar with that brand. Currently I’m just looking for shoes like the UO ones I linked. Hard to find closed-toe boat-shoe-like flat sandals in white at the moment.

Super cute outfits! I have been into loose see-through blouses lately. I found a beige on with peter pan collar the other day and bought it on the spot. They look so cute with shorts/skirts/everything under the sun!

I hope the weather clears up for you soon.

I didn’t get to comment on the last few entries but I think your dye job is super cute!

Oh peter pan collar!! VERY NICE! I would like to get a sheer sleeveless peter pan collared top for summer because you’re right, they go with everything!

I absolutely love your second outfit and i’m loving the bracelet from F21… I actually like it a lot better than the dazzlin’ one. Dazzlin’ one is a little toooo close to ‘bad 70’s Hawaiian shirt print’ for my comfort. I also love your phone case, gah I love Rilakkuma so much.

jenny said
May 17, 2011 @ 11:35 am

LOL so true! The other patterns from Dazzlin were less appealing. Though the leopard one was ok, just sorta expected.

Hey, you are wearing your beautiful new top! Suits you so well! And I can’ t say how much I adore your Rilakkuma I-phone case!! I’m a Rilakkuma addict, haha!

Well, knitting and crocheting is so much fun while it is also relaxing, I can only recommend you to do it! I’m knitting a wide top next and can’t wait to plan my next projects D

Thank you!

I have sooooo many near competition knitting projects it’s sad! I used to knit during college. LIKE A MAD WOMAN! Even got some Japanese knitting books & learned how to decipher Japanese patterns because their accessories were waaaaaaay better than anything in the US knitting books at the time! I pull it out usually once a year to start up on xmas stockings but never finish! I’ll do like 1 fair-isle pattern section then forget and walk away. It’s one of those hobbies I wish I were better at keeping up with.
