I Crave Delicate Gold Necklaces

Monday June 13, 2011

There was one other thing I bought this weekend!

A short, simple gold necklace + pendant!

Suddenly I really wanted one! :deco9: I used to only like my long necklaces. Rosaries and such. Or something thick and flashy. Chunky chain links, etc. But lately I wanted something sweet that hit near my collarbone. :suki:

I wasn’t sure if it was just a passing fancy so I purchased the star this weekend. :deco9:

All from style-arena.jp

Best thing about it? $1.50 from Forever21 :celebrate:

I know it’ll tarnish soon, won’t last, etc, etc but I need to be sure I really did like the style before buying something pricier. I was thinking under $100 though. :dizzy: Something only gold dipped maybe. I was looking at those Dogeared necklaces at first. Lots of charms to choose from and I tried a few on last weekend.

Something from Jupiter would be a dream! :deco10: It’s a brand Rinka has worked with for many years. They make simple, sweet pieces mostly. Very beautiful. Rinka has her own line for many seasons now.

Sehr Teuer, ja?! :drops: :deco13: :deco13: :deco13: $$$$

But then today I found two gold charms from my childhood! :deco8:
I’M SO HAPPY! I THOUGHT I LOST THEM! :)

I knew the chains were long gone. :;_;: There were two necklaces my grandmother gave me when I was about 13. I was still very, very tom-boyish then and I really didn’t like the necklaces. The chains were extremely delicate and over time I knotted them and broke them. :deco13: But I can’t believe I held onto the charms! One is a double heart. The other is a kitty. ^_^

Now I just need a short gold chain! :deco8: I’m so happy I found these

Ah so yeah great Monday! I was really productive today, feels good. Though I’m exhausted. :deco16: So I’ll end it here.

A little bonus shot from today. I wore these two lip glosses all day. Shu Uemura and Melliesh in Baby Doll. I never realized how well they compliment one another. They ended up together in my makeup pouch by coincidence. :deco10:

I’m wearing Melliesh in Juicy Orange in the above sleepy Sunday pic actually~~ :ok: I like Melliesh lip glosses so much ::9:

Wow, I never would have guessed that necklace was from F21! It’s so cute~ such a shame that their jewelry does tarnish really fast, like even faster than stuff from claire’s, etc. :(
Hopefully one day you can get a special piece from Jupiter, though those charms your grandmother gave you are really perfect~!

    • jenny says:

Yea mostly I hate that tarnish smell you get from touching their stuff after a few months! Like grabbing coins or something blegh.

  2. Krystine says:

I’ve been dying for a cute little necklace like that recently too! The 4th one of the style-arena photos is just the kind of thing I’ve been looking for – love love love! I love the star one you got too! I haven’t seen that in F21, I’ll have to look next time I go.

  3. cin says:

    Cute necklaceeee! :D
I’m lucky to have 2 delicate gold necklaces from Phil hehe although one need’s a new chain since it kept breaking!

  4. Honeydew says:

$1.50?! That’s a super awesome deal~ I’ve been into/wanting to get some short necklaces too. I only have long necklaces and lately Ive been trying to buy some short ones that hit my collarbone as well. I used to dislike gold accessories but now seeing them in jmagazines so much has made me grown to like them more lol.

    • jenny says:

I grew up thinking I hated gold but later realized I only thought that because my MOM hated gold and forced me to only like silver LOLOL, gold is actually my favorite but I have a lot of white gold items to be honest xDD

  5. Beautiful necklace!

I think i have to try out melliesh lip glosses. :)

    xoxo

  6. That is seriously a killer deal for a cute necklace like that. I have a necklace that I bought from F21. It lasted for about five years now and that’s with me doing some hardcore damage to them [thank high school years]. Eventually it changed colors on me and the chain looks like it’s going to break.

I love the kitty charm! Hopefully you’ll find a good sturdy chain for your two charms! :)

    • jenny says:

Yeah sometimes their stuff can really hold up! But I paid only a $1.50 so I’m not holding this necklace to too high of expectations :P

  7. Bianca says:

i love a good necklace, im actually going in like a no jewelry except for my watch, im unsure why i wore silver hoops everyday for like 8 yrs!…nice buy tho 1.50…thats very do-able

  8. Fatiha says:

Such an adorable necklace! And only $1.50?Amazing ~ ^_^ It’s a hard choice between long/short necklaces, but I love longer ones because they’re always so much more noticeable! Nonetheless, cute ~

Pretty charms ~ I’ve always wanted a charm bracelet, but I’ve never actually had one before… so I guess that goes on the list for the next shopping spree! Oh, such fun ~ hehe

It was a pretty long day for me to day, but I feel accomplished as well – on days like these, it’s great just to huddle under your blanket and have a long rest…

  9. X.Wen says:

I like that gold necklace with star design..like the one with ribbon design also…Star & ribbom are my favorite…^^ those necklaces are quite nice ..like like like =)

  10. Ambi says:

I’ve been looking everywhere for cute delicate necklaces! I found an adorable little thrift store and they have a whole bunch of vintage necklaces like those! The super best part is that they’re all under $10!!

  11. dish says:

The necklace is tiny and adorable. Amusingly, when I looked at the dogeared link, the first one that caught my eye was a tiny star too, so it has to be nice to have found one just like it (even if it doesn’t last as long).

That Rinka jewelry is absolutely exquisite, too. Esp. the bow. Aber sehr teuer, ja. XD

And the Melliesh lip colour looks so cute. It doesn’t happen to be matte-looking does it?

  12. Lolo says:

I love simple and elegant necklaces. Most of mine are very simple and I always lean towards them even when I have some chunkier ones to choose from~ The star is really cute and suits you nicely too ^___^

  13. i have always loved silver necklaces and bracelet~~always thought gold was too mature…but it’s been growing on me this season too~~esp since i started wearing the double heart bracelet freebie from sweet magazine~~haha gotta love forever 21 though…def. can’t tell its just $1.50!!

    • jenny says:

Ah yes! I love that bracelet! It’s one of the few that doesn’t just fall off my hand (I have very narrow wrist & hand.) I think b/c the star necklace design is so simple it doesn’t come off looking too “cheap.” :D

  14. lissy says:

i think i’m getting into small necklaces too~, but seriously only $1.5!!! and its so cute too :D

  15. Amy says:

Yeesss, I love short, gold necklaces. I’ve gotten a heart one from dogeared.com and I barely take it off. But since I live in Canada, the shipping was mad expensive. T 3T So I’m feeling iffy about order more from there. Goes great with just about every outfit.

    • jenny says:

I noticed even their US shipping is A LOT compared to typical store shipping. I’d really like to find the ones I like in store to avoid the extra cost but stores only carry a handful of their most popular series =Y

  16. Alisa says:

Wow you’re new necklace looks so sweet. It really fits to your style! And so cheap…can’t believe it O_O

  17. K says:

That lip gloss suits you really well!

  18. Thanh Thao says:

Wow, what a cute necklace!! And such a good price, you know I’m a bargain shopper, haha!!

I love your haircut so much! Thinking about doing some bangs as well, I haven’t got any since elemantary school, lol.

    Indeed, the Rinka necklaces are sehr teuer aber sehr schön! :-) And you even have a Deutsche Mark! I so regret not having kept one of those before we had the change to Euro ;__;

    • jenny says:

Ah, I regret not saving any of my paper Marke :( But I was a poor student and needed money so I exchanged it all back to USD except the coins ;___;.

  19. Joey says:

I love those necklaces! I’m a huge lover of accessories.
How lucky of you to find those 2 charms again. Isn’t it exciting finding forgotten jewelry. It’s like free shopping! hehe

    • jenny says:

It is!!! I looked in this tiny jewelry box just to see, “oh maybe, hum I wonder if it is in here…” and BAM!! I had even forgotten about the heart one. I was just wanting to find the cat. xD

  20. Lily says:

I’m totally craving them too! It’s great for wearing at school where we can’t over accessorize but a delicate gold pendant would be perfect. I was kind of hoping my boyfriend would get me one for my birthday but I guess my little hints weren’t strong enough x.x

    • jenny says:

Awe well maybe for some other holiday he’ll figure it out. I think some guys think jewelry giving will seem too cliche’ so they don’t do it~~~

  21. Rubi says:

omgg that kitty charm is so cute!! It’s super cute that you found these, because little charms with meaning are even better :)

  22. jilliancat says:

If you take really good care of the necklace, it won’t tarnish that easily. ^^ Simple steps like removing when you have a shower, not wearing it when you know you are going to sweat and keep it in a dry place will definitely the length of your necklace’s life. XD

    • jenny says:

I actually follow those guidelines so YAY! \:D/ Though… I don’t understand how people shower with jewelry on! I’m waaaay too paranoid of losing things down the drain :O

  23. Sami says:

    That necklace is PERFECT!
My Pupe has one like this too actually hehe XD

  24. ada says:

oh my gosh, this little star is too cute! I’ve always loved silver jewellery but this year, definitaly gold is love. :P

  25. Veronica says:

I have a little pearl drop necklace my dad gave me – it’s so sweet,I wore it yesterday :) I love the star!

You should make a charm bracelet!

  26. mommo says:

that was nice! sadly I don’t like wearing any necklace :(
I was away and when I came back it wa so many updated! I like the previous one Hehe..

  27. Firipa says:

it’s lovely!! it gives a very sweet, yet mature, look. i like it.
i always forget to wear accessories. the only thing i basically wear is the vivienne westwood ring my bf gave me for my bday. and even that, sometimes i forget to put on… i can’t use any jewelry for work, so maybe that’s why i don’t get used to it.

anyways, I was thinking, since I can’t use any of the blushers I bought from Canmake, would you like to have them? I have used them a couple of times each though. I think you might already have this kind of shades too, if not, let me know if you’re interested!

    • jenny says:

Right~! I love the mature understated look of this style now. When I don’t need something so showy. :)

I understand the work thing. Actually I rarely wear my engagement ring, despite adoring it, because at work it gets in the way when typing, same with watches. Because I don’t like them when at work I tend to just never wear them at all :(

Awe really you’d send me the items you can’t use!? I’d love them to be honest! I don’t have any of them xDDD! I’ve only ever tried Canmake cream blush in orange and Canmake eyebrow & lip items :DDv It’s OK if they’re slightly used. I can clean the blush with my rubbing alcohol spritz and my makeup brush cleaner. I use it to clean my eyeshadows I send to my sister when I realize I’m no longer using them :)

I’ll hit you up on email later today :)))

  28. kamille says:

I think the necklace trend is hard to maintain. I always tend to lose mine, but I do love the Christian Dior charm :) Style Arena gives such good inspo! I think maybe if you buy an okay chain to fit your star charm, it might last longer! I try to stay away from anything gold at F21 even though silver accessories seem so out right now haha.

  29. Sachie says:

Very cute necklaces! The Rinka one is so pretty!

  30. Courtney says:

The short gold necklaces also remind me of my childhood…I had a lot like these. They’re very classic and “sweet”! Congrats on finding those! I’m sure they have sweet memories

  31. Jenii says:

Cute necklace! So simple yet still accenting in it’s modest way. I like it. I have a charm that my dad passed on to me that needs re-chaining. It has such a thick manly chain on it at the moment ;;== I’ll have to find a smaller one :D

Ahh such lovely charms & Rinka necklaces! Lovely!

  32. My Linh says:

Love the necklaces… !!! They are so CUTE!

  33. Cindii says:

I love F21 jewelry. It’s so inexpensive and pretty.

  34. Mika says:

The necklaces look so sweet ! I think I might need something like this as well, something cute and less big and flashy like I usually buy them :) You’re really beautiful !

  35. Ys says:

I wear a plain gold cross and it sits around about the same length as yours does. I never take it off. I adore how it looks :)

  36. rene says:

High five! I love gold dedicate and dainty necklaces too. I loved them for several years now, so I have a few in my collection. I think the most pricey one has got to be from Chanel. But it was a gift from the ex bf though. LOL.

Maybe I can blog about my collection! If I can find time…. been so busy! I’m catching up on your posts! and I haven’t show you my Rilakkuma iphone cover. HAHAHA.

  37. Becca says:

I’ve been looking for those dogeared “Karma” necklaces since my trip down to seattle… thanks! Now I can buy them from the comfort of my home instead of driving 2 hours hehe
