Kansai Girl’s Style

Monday, Jul. 18, 2011 | 58 Comments

I recently clipped some inspo from a downloaded Kansai Girl’s Style magazine. Sometimes I wish my local magazine store would carry these types of magazines. Used Mix, Seda, PS~~ etc. but at least scanned pages are already ripe for the clipping & adding to my iPhone (where I keep my most “current inspo.” ) These are very casual summer looks, sorta where my head is right now

I love this magazine! I discovered it when I went to Osaka last year, but of course, it’s difficult to buy something regional like that outside of Japan ;~;

Also, keeping inspirational photos on your iphone is a great idea! I must try that

Ah I know!!! It’s so hard to get smaller circulation magazines state-side. There are a few I sometimes check for on ebay, etc like 古着MIXガールズ :(

Ohh cute outfit, these magazines have a very nice style! Very Mori Girl! I love Mori Girl lifestyle!

I see them EVERYWHERE lately so hard to not buy. I told myself “enough shorts” for this summer though. *sigh.* Even MANGO had some with lace! All girly and sweet style

Yeah I always see them in stores now but told myself no more shorts this year. A lot of them are super short aren’t they especially the lace ones t___t

I like that these are actually realistic and very attainable. nice picks!

Oh yeah, these are mostly street snaps plus just casual clothing. Very wearable

These coordinates are very cute, but I’d never wear or even try any of them. They look way too young and cute for me. I’m tall and look my age (mid 20s) so I think it’d just look weird… I like to look my age n____n'’

jenny said

I understand, you gotta be comfortable in what you wear. However a lot of girls in this magazine are actually mid to late 20’s

Those are super cute! I wished my bookstore would have more magazines too but I did see Used Mix there yesterday when I went.

Did you get the new issue of Sweet yet? I really like the Uniqlo spread and the Snidel spread!! The gift is super cute as usual

jenny said
July 18, 2011 @ 9:00 pm

Not yet, mine usually gets here on the 20th so a day or 2 more! I saw the gift though, looks quite useful! YES there’s a Snidel shoot!? GREAT!! \/

Jenn said
July 18, 2011 @ 11:50 pm

The clothes are super cozy in that shoot! And there’s a really gorgeous shoot in Turkey too. I’m not a fan of their rock-inspired shoot though. There’s also a Rinka insert! And they also feature models and their personal styles/apartments. All in all, it’s a pretty good issue and gave me lots of ideas for fall.

I saw it at the bookstore so I should be getting mine today (same company ) I saw that there was a Rinka insert! DWRCYS I think?

Yay! Kansai! I love seeing Kansai pop up on the radar. I’ve never picked up an issue of Kansai Girl, but I might have to check it out one of these days

I’m sure you could find some extra cheap at Book-Off. I think it’s just a quarterly magazine (???)

>:l it is really hard to find used mix. I forgot magazines range from $15-20 now. I wanted to buy that same marc jacobs tote, but it’s around 50-70. I think that’s a little high for me!

jenny said
July 18, 2011 @ 10:00 pm

Yea with USD being so crappy low against the Yen imported magazines are $$$. I get my Used Mix delivered from a Fujisan.com subscription and it’s about that price range.

Was the canvas MJ tote in the snap really $50~$70?? I’m surprised, I’d figured it be more b/c his MBMJ shopper totes are already like $55.

kamille said
July 18, 2011 @ 10:54 pm

on Amazon! and possibly ebay. I really want the MJ nylon bag though, doesn’t look as sturdy though!

jenny said
July 19, 2011 @ 6:12 pm

Yeah it’s quite shapeless I think compared to other totes.

This magazine looks cute! I’m from the DC area too–where do you usually go to buy Japanese magazines?

jenny said
July 19, 2011 @ 5:45 pm

There’s a small market in Rockville on 355 called Maruichi. They carry Sweet, Vivi, More, Non-no, Seventeen, Glitter, and a few others. I can’t recall them all because I don’t really look for them ^^;; If you ever go there’s a great little cafe underneath called “Temari Cafe” where you can get ramen, omurice, snow cones, and more

Ohh, I used to work at Maruichi and Termari a few years ago haha. I didn’t know Maruichi started selling magazines! Definitely gotta go back now~ thanks for your reply

Hey, something that I was wondering about are types of Japanese foods, and meals, I really love Japan and would like to try some.

jenny said
July 22, 2011 @ 10:55 am

Uhhh, I dunno a 1-stop place to learn about that. My favorites are Okonomiyaki & sukiyaki. Google I guess? Or maybe this? http://omnomnomjapanesefood.tumblr.com/
