My New Favorite Dress

Tuesday January 31, 2012

New sweater dress purchased on sale at Madewell Saturday.
It’s warm and cozy and perfect for PMS and has a giant single pocket on the front. I’ve worn it out 3 times already lolol

I realized that in recent months I’ve only purchased clothing from Madewell and no where else. :P

Then I remembered I did buy this amazing top from Zara on sale a little over a month ago. It has button-snaps all down the back. It’s better suited for spring but I’ve worn it a few times this winter already.

Then the last non-Madewell clothing item I purchased was during Black Friday when I bought a red coat, plaid scarf, deer print dress, and brown cardigan from H&M. :deco13:

It’s not really interesting. :deco13: It was that I just noticed when shopping this weekend I sorta skip most other clothing stores now. Though today I was struck with the dreadful thought of summer and no longer being able to wear sweaters. :drops: What will I do? What. Will. I. Do? … :?: I felt the same about this winter though too, bwahahahaha~

Picked up this thinner sweater at Madewell too when I bought the knit dress. It’s a simple navy blue brushed knit. Will make a lot of use of it layered right now with blouses but come spring I can wear it solo as it warms up.

    Haha “what will I doooo”

I love the gold button details – simple smashing ;) very “gamine” :D

I’m thinking that I need to move somewhere with a colder climate. I just don’t know how to dress without layers, and doing so somehow makes me feel sloppy. :/

Yesssss. Transitioning into “shorts and tank” weather I always feel I’m running around naked. Though I grew up in a much hotter climate I just prefer layers now. KNITS AND SWEATERS.

Man, I want the shops you shop at ):!! I really love that Zara top! It’s so retro and chic at the same time

  4. Tori says:

Ok, so looking at that striped Zara top… I was totally reminded of those old-school envelopes with the blue & white trim? So cute, haha! XD #foreverrandom
That sweater dress does look super-cosy though! I don’t blame you for wanting to live in it.

Air Mail envelopes! Actually I adore air mail designs. Kate Spade has an iPhone cover with the design and has done bags etc, etc. I actually have some of the envelopes. Should try to use them I guess :P

Man this knit dress just hides BLOAT. Perfect PMS dress Dx

Absolutely in love with your Zara top ❤_❤

  6. M says:

yeah i think i saw that shirt at my local zara too
    super cute

    • jenny says:

Probably, it’s a part of their “basic” line. And I’m just thinking when did a heavy knit with full length snaps and double pockets become a “basic?” Oh well :3

  7. Jenna says:

    Love everything!

  8. Samantha says:

The NYC Madewell (around Union Square-ish) has terrible sales. ;___; Simply terrible. I can’t wait to check out the DC area one(s).

    • jenny says:

Understandable. I live near 3 Madewell’s and the one closest to me has THE BEST sales prices & usually a lot of stock left as well. *feels blessed*

  9. Michelle says:

Ugh. Madewell. I love Madewell so much. I just spent a good hundred bucks on the most amazing blouses ever. I love your picks!

    • jenny says:

YAAAAAY!!! The other day when I bought this dress & knit and was mentioning how I only shop THERE right now the husband told me “yeah but you wear what you buy immediately. You used to buy clothes then hardly wear them but with Madewell you’re always wearing them out right away.” TRUTH

  10. jiaying says:

I know what you mean about dressing down for hotter days.

I live in Singapore where it’s like summer all year round.. dressing layers will just look silly, and I always feel sloppy when I dress too little! Doesn’t help when when feeling PMS-y or fat either. Boo! :-/

By the way, your nail colour is so cute! Hehe!

    • jenny says:

Ugh I imagine your climate is a lot like my hometown climate was. Never really cold and always ALWAYS a bajillion % humidity! I actually had a hard time adjusting to wearing layers but now I hate removing them.

I really love the stripey top! Reminds me so much of Lowrys Farm XD and love the button detail on the back~ Btw I saw your lace top in Zara the other day but it was in black and no size for me D:

    • jenny says:

“OMG this looks like something straight from LOWRYS FARM.” Is EXACTLY what I said when I saw it!

Yeah I’ve seen that black one around still too. I keep wanting to wear mine but it’s just too frozen out, even if I layered something on top x(

  12. jayne says:

    Oh cute, cute, cute!

Trying to decide what to wear on my trip around to NYC – so concerned it will be freezing! Your wardrobe updates definitely help!

    • jenny says:

I’m going this weekend and I’m wearing warm tights + jeans + button up blouse + sweater + down jacket + socks + wingtip boots + scarf

      Might help :3

Or you can dress down a bit & just catch taxis to where you want to go. I love to walk though personally. It’s a long distance if you’re going from let’s say battery park to midtown but always something to see & you can grab a bite on the way!

I love that top from Zara! It looks so bright and cute.

Madewell seems like an awesome place to shop at ^^! I hope I have the chance to shop there when I go to L.A :3

  15. Angel says:

I love the striped dress and the sweater dress too! Both look super comfy and easy to wear ;)

  16. Yy says:

I feel the same way about not being able to wear the sweaters. But that’s cos I keep buying sweaters even though I live in a tropical country. So I plan my holidays during the colder periods and I’m going to utilize my sweaters in an upcoming work trip in a winter climate!

  17. Emy says:

OMG so cute and so cheap!

Take pictures of you wearing it please !

    xx
