Zakka (15)

I like Zakka, a lot. I find it so inspiring and calm and peaceful. I want my life to be a Zakka life. With planning the new house decorations 1 room will be Zakka inspired. However I’ve always liked “cottage style” and Zakka is really close to that. It’s almost zen-like to me. It’s really hard to explain.
So you’re asking, “What is Zakka exactly?!”

Zakka (from the Japanese ‘zak-ka’ or ‘many things’ ) is a fashion and design phenomenon. The term refers to everything and anything that improves your home, life and outlook. It is primarily based on household items from the West that are regarded as kitsch in their countries of origin.

Zakka has also been described as “the art of seeing the savvy in the ordinary and mundane”.

A sum up (18)

It got cold again. There was a winter storm Friday with rain, ice, and snow. So much for that very nice day of 70 degree weather Wednesday.

I used an old banner of clovers for yesterday. Just for St. Patty’s Day.

So yesterday we watched a random movie I rented (Confetti.) Very cute, a bit goofy but pretty damn funny and sharp.

We also went and signed some papers for the new house and got to play with a doll-house model of the place, haahahaha

, I had never seen anything like it before. You could pull out your floors and what not. Plus we have a better idea of the exterior. Very interesting, very different. It’s meant to look historic. Anywho~ that was fun.

Unfortunately it’s my time of the month and the dumbest, smallest things are upsetting me!!!! GAhhhhhhh, I hate being this way. Upset over NOTHING and can’t control it. The house yesterday, then this guy today telling me I couldn’t use the restroom at The Cheesecake Factory. I think he thought we weren’t customers, but we WERE. We went there for brunch today. It was really nice. But then they set the MOST negative couple next to us!! Hahaha, some people…

Then bought a few things at the Japanese market

Galoshes (11)

I seriously need some. I should have bought super cute ones when I had the MANY, MANY chances to in college. Now I can only find them online for $40

my shoes I bought super-80’s-craptacular cheap shoes today despite them being puke-pink. I liked the shape of the toe. Hahahaha! So PLASTIC! They are actually slippery

I took my Birthday off, and now Mike can’t take it off *pout* . I wanted to go get lunch in the city on my Birthday. It’s even Good Friday and he can’t get it off :somber:. Kind of typical though. Though it’s not his fault this time, he rarely ever takes my Birthday off :tearup:. I don’t want to go out alone on my Birthday… I dunno what I’ll end up doing till 6:00 that day.

Some scans from Blueprint that I liked. This girl had a VERY tiny space and did an awesome job decorating it! LOVED the colors and tons of shelfing.
