Damn you addiction!

So I went to Forever21 looking for this hairbow

Of coooooooourse they didn’t freakin’ have it. But did I just turn around and leave??? NO OF COURSE NOOOOT! I got caught up in shopping and bought all this crap
:driftingoff:

Though I have to admit I got actual outfits for once! Tops AND bottoms. Great basics and such.
Plus I couldn’t help but get this fantastic dress!

It’s so pretty and makes my boobs look small (which I need b/c I’m crazy top heavy OK ) I can’t wait till spring 100% arrives. Or better yet summer. Of course when I’m melting I’ll be all “omfg when does christmas arrive I need snow damnit!” hahahaa

Also I finally got more of my favorite hairspray from Sephora.

I can fall asleep in this stuff and wake up still will styled curls! It stands up really well to crappy nonstop winds too (had to find that out the annoying way last week, hahaa.)

That all said… I want to stop buying clothes :whaaaaaat:
It’s easy to say that and then I turn around and buy shit! I just want to save & save again like last year so I can go back to Japan ASAP :bai:. But I have money I can spend so there’s not this ACTUAL REASON for me NOT to spend. I know that sounds whiny and very “oh boo-hoo pity-party” but I’ve said many times already that I’m not going to buy any more clothes and then I turn around and find something I just HAVE to have. I’ve been having to buy new 20 packs of hangers on a monthly basis… I think I’m GOOD on clothes.

SO. Tonight I bought things I felt I needed. Another pair of jean shorts, sheer basic white tee, basic colored fitted tanks~ I’m gonna work hard to get back to the habit of only buying a few things here and there and not going on these FULL ON SHOPPING ADVENTURES. Mike of course is of no help. He thinks as long as I’m not out buying Marc Jacobs or Prada weekly then we’re good. But I want to change b/c it’ll make me happy. Plus I haven’t enough hours in the day to wear the stuff I’ve bought in the past year! Hahahaha

Ok I’ll stop here. I feel I’m coming off a bit doucey, HAHAHA I probably just feel this way because I did big spending on my birthday, followed by my friend’s visit, followed by this week. So I just feel I’m going overboard but I’m probably not~

wow forever 21 is really following on the big hair bow trend.

why don’t you put a dollar a day aside for your Japan trip? (or two dollars a day..) and instead of completely stopping yourself from shopping just restrict yourself to, at max, three items.

: )

I like that idea. I usually do the “this or that” when shopping but lately I’ve been saying “screw it” and I buy everything, LOL!

I WANT TO ROB YOUR CLOSEST!!! That bow is ridiculously cute! *-* Think of shopping in more stores in Japan will definitely motivate you to save more

I love Forever 21 Their cloth are both pretty and affordable. Gosh, those huge hair bows are starting to take over the world LOL. First Japan and now the U.S. But it’s cute. I wonder if they have it over here. Mmmm…anyway Mike is funny (referring to “He thinks as long as I’m not out buying Marc Jacobs or Prada weekly then we’re good.” Hehe. I can understand your reasoning behind shopping for cloth. If you really don’t need to save money, then I guess it doesn’t hurt

Wow. I haven’t been shopping in so long. And I am in serious need of more bottoms: jeans, shorts, skirts.

LOL @ Mike’s attitude. That’s funny. I guess it’s a good thing that he’s tolerant of your shopping habits.

omg I’ve been going overboard with Forever 21. Whenever I get something, people are always like, “OMG is that from Forever 21?” which can disappoint me because we all shop at the exact Forever 21 STORES… so I can’t wait to visit the Heritage 1981 store when I go up the California coast

And I hate when F21 doesn’t have the things online in stores -__-

jenny said
April 22, 2009 @ 7:43 am

Yes I adore Heritage!!! It has more casual, folk items which I enjoy~~ Plus it’s not super crammed with stuff everywhere. They’ve been better at having more JUST Heritage only items too now.

The F21 right by my house rarely has the online stuff in stores. It fails but I like it best b/c it caters to more of the folk & office looks rather than just club-looks like the others near me.

That pink dress is love!!! :3

You had a pretty eventful weekend so I’d say you had a reason to be spending~ I suggest doing something like what Ruby suggested! Perhaps a budget would help also?

Yea I put myself on a monthly spending budget last year and it worked REALLY well! Need to get back to that I think!

firstly the pink dress is GORGEOUS! I am absolutely in love with babydoll dresses but the stores by me just aren’t stocking them. I have scans from my magazine I was going to post on my blog that are so similar to the one you bought. so a very good choice in my opinion

But I do understand what you mean: never mind that it’s “just shopping” it’s a habit you want to change in yourself and you feel bad cos you haven’t succeeded yet. Just keep on perservering. If you really want to change it then you will in the end I find the best thing to do when you don’t want to shop is to keep far away from stores and online shops. Just ban them!

jenny said
April 22, 2009 @ 7:46 am

Oh I wanna see your scans !!

Yea, you totally get where I’m coming from on this!! *hugs*

Yea I ended up at F21 in the first place b/c I was on their online shoppppp oh whhhhy! LOOOOOL

I know how you feel!! At least I think I do.. My shopping habits kind of changed last year. Before that time I was not interested in clothes THAT MUCH. But I go shopping quite often now and I always buy new things although I have enough clothes already. When I’m out shopping I always ask myself: Do I really need these? And right there I always convince myself that I do, although I probably don’t.. And then when I get home I can’t really be happy about the things I bought because I don’t even need them ;_; But they look great.. So I think, for my happiness’ sake I will cut down on the amount of clothes that I buy, simply because it starts to make me feel bad. There are clothes in my closet that I don’t even wear!

jenny said
April 22, 2009 @ 7:48 am

EXACTLY!! God you are dead on! That’s what I’ve been doing. I get home & I don’t feel happy about my purchases and I look in my closet and see something I’ve yet to even wear!

Wow @ the bows hmm wonder where that inspiration came from!

You do seem to buy a lot of clothes? @_@ where does it all go? Do you throw old stuff out? We are opposites I NEED to buy clothes but don’t wanna and am too lazy these days.

jenny said

I ship off my old clothes to my sister, She’s 17. Lately “old” is no more than a year and anything that looks OLD-old I give to goodwill.

AH haha we are so alike -

I tried making a big black bow out of some left over satin.

FAIL, haha

Andy and I work on illustration commission basis, so when we’re not painting we’re desperate for more clients. It’s kind of a vicious cycle because there are so many things we’re perpetually saving for, but rewarding at the same time. Need $$ for Nagoya this fall!

Aww, Jenny don’t feel bad!! I can totally relate because I need to stop buying stuff & save too~ I know how hard it is!! I actually went looking on the F21 website for that hairbow too, haha *is fail also*

All the stuff you bought is awesome though~ definitely great basics that you won’t find yourself going ‘why did I buy this?’ months later, which is important. But at least you have a goal on why you want to save~ just focus on that & I know you’ll be fine!

jenny said
April 22, 2009 @ 11:45 am

Yea I think the lot I got won’t have me asking that… which I definitely have some items in my closet that I’m like “uughhh why did I buy this?? I knew I’d hardly wear it! *sadface*”

That’s a very pretty and cute dress!

Oh, I totally understand how you feel about saving and not wanting to buy anymore clothes. I’m trying to save for a trip to Japan too but it’s just soooooo hard. However, I have a savings account opened and every month, I make small transfers to there so that I don’t touch that money, and it actually works! I keep a little money in my chequing account to spend on whatever I need to spend money on….bus fare, cosmetics, clothes, food, entertainment, etc.

You know what I find troublesome about getting new clothes? You always have to find things to MATCH with them so you can have a full outfit! D: I have sooooooooo much clothing that I bought over the past 2 years that I don’t have things to match with. And most of the time, I’m just missing the most BASIC things to match them with, such as a simple graphic tee or a simple cami to go underneath. So now, instead of always buying new clothes, I’m actually trying to find stuff that I can wear with all the clothes I bought but haven’t even wore ONCE yet! I always think I don’t have enough clothes to wear/rotate, but the truth is I actually DO have a good decent amount of clothes but I just don’t have things to go with them!

But what I like to do when I go shopping now is I put myself into a budget of how much I want to spend. I usually know how much I get paid from work, so I try to limit my spending according to that. Also, I always have a amount that I like to maintain in my bank too, so I try not to go over that limit unless I really need to. So sometimes I’d go out window shopping for clothes and I find things that I like and then I PICK OUT items to get that I want the most and save the rest for later. Though it works a bit different for me as I get paid every 2 weeks. So what I do is I buy one part of the stuff I want in the first 2 weeks and then I buy the other part 2 weeks later! It really helps me to save a lot because I don’t have to spend a HUGE amount of money all at once. I think I save about $200 every month shopping that way.

jenny said
April 22, 2009 @ 11:58 am

Yes, yes!! Matching the clothes!!! It’s a simple concept but then you go into the store and buy whatever random color you like and then you’re stuck with nada matching! The ruffle top I had originally gotten purple but Mike suggested white. GENIUS. Because I ended up coming home with everything creating an outfit! Like the 10 days 8 items sections in magazines! LOL

We have a 2 savings accounts and 1 automatically transfers a little bit of money in every time you use your debit card. It’s freakin’ ingenious!

I hope you can find some good deals on basics!!

Honeydew said
April 22, 2009 @ 3:10 pm

LOL! Yessssss, that’s exactly what I do when I go shopping. Picking out colours that are the HARDEST to match with anything. It is definitely great to stick eith neutral colours!!

Ah, basics are always the hardest to find for me because I often get distracted with the more awesome. good looking clothes that I don’t even look at the basics. ;

I know exactly how you feel. It’s really hard not to spend money when you know you have the extra money. It’s like, “Since I have extra now, I’ll spend a little now and save more later.” Then it starts in that cycle and soon you get into buyers remose which is never fun. I think as long as you continue to try hard to save you can. I usually make a list for myself on things I would like and seperate them into each month. Then I know this month I can buy clothes, next month I can buy magazines, and so on. It seems like a lot to other people, but in my eyes it’s the best option. After all, not everyone can be a penny pincher.

I wish I could stop shopping too, I don’t shop so much in US stores, but rather Japanese web shops which costs even mooore after shipping x_x; Being a boy must be so much easier when it comes to clothing addictions… and they get to buy socks and underwear in PACKS! Ours are all separates and expensive….

I totally feel the same way as you about buying clothes but I do love your purchases! I use to shop so much more but I’ve started limiting myself by buying certain styles that I do not have in my closet yet. That’s the only way I could stop myself! It’s so hard especially when I’m in the crazy huge 3 story Forever 21 store in downtown San Francisco loL!

I think I want to try that hairspray now because I try to curl my short hair but the curls never ever stays! Thank you for your recommendation!^^

Make your own bow! And then use bobby pins to secure it on your head! It’s a cheaper way than spending $3. And it will also help you try not to spend any money! Good idea, amirite or amirite.

But good luck with your goal! Its so hard to stop spending money.. especially when you’re out all the time. Gah!

you know what i do? every time i buy something, i get rid of something. i bought 2 new pairs of work pants and gave 2 old pairs away. i just need some summer clothes now because i’ve given them all away! 2 pairs of shorts and like 10 tops! i only get 1/2 a closet so my limited space keeps my wardrobe small. if i had a full- time job that paid well i’d probably shop more (but i’d be buying mj purses and such LOL). you should set some goals about saving to get to japan! i’m going to start doing that, too. FIRST- get passport! LOL

good luck reaching your goals- i know you can do it
