This & That Update

Sunday, May 9th, 2010 | 39 Comments

I’m back~ Got sorta sick this week. Probably a sinus infection or something small. I took a few days of rest and am feeling fine & fancy free now!

Boooo to Sunday evenings. T-minus work in 9 hours or so. Boo, boo, haahaa~ 3-day work week please?

Everyone call their Moms today?? Mine continues to suddenly try & guilt me into coming down for my sister’s graduation. Why is this a guilt-ed thing? Well 2 reasons:

  1. My sister is failing and isn’t exactly sure she’ll be able to graduate (high school )
  2. She’ll know if she’ll graduate less than a week BEFORE graduation which means I’d be buying at last minute plane ticket price rape time.

I’m NOT buying my ticket until I know she’s graduating damnit. I don’t have vacation time nor money to burn on a “hope & a prayer” she’ll pass. It might be different if they ever took the time to visit me. I’ve lived here for 5 years and my family has yet to visit me. OK… we’ll go down that rabbit hole so other time, LOOOOOOOOL. HAPPY THOUGHTS, HAPPY THOUGHTS!

Happy thoughts like food!
DELICIOUS FOOD!

Last Saturday I stumbled upon this bakery in Georgetown called Baked and Wired. Great atmosphere and even greater sweets! I got this sandwich cookie that had creamy chocolate and caramel flavored cream sandwiched between two chewy rich chocolate cookies!!

Image from Yelp. I forgot to take a photo of all the treats inside!

I finally saw Target had 2 liter bottles of ITO EN tea! Well, the jasmine type at least. This is the same tea (and size) I buy at international markets (Grand Mart, H-Mart, Lotte, Maruichi) but the US bottled version is at least a dollar cheaper! I hadn’t seen the 2L bottles until recently. I always buy this size because I drink tea constantly throughout the day. :haha:

The one on the left is the US bottled one (duuur, lol) and costs $3.99 and the right one is the original bottle which is typically $5.50 in price. It’s not that big of a price difference but why buy it for more when I don’t have to, you know? Now if only all my other favorite teas would be bottled in the US to drive cost down!? Haahaahaaa! And yes the right bottle is empty . I drink A LOT of tea~ zero calories ftw

I’ve been a bit behind on posting some shopping purchases I’ve picked up a few things since my birthday weekend over a month ago . Mostly just on the weekends since during the week I’ve been too tired to go out lately

You know those metal bunny ear headbands from Popteen and every other Japanese magazine? I’ve picked up two this month and they’re really great for quick and easy looks!

Here’s a little video covering the trend of “bunny ear” headwear!
[うさ耳 ~ u-sa-mi-mi ]
The girls they interview are rather cute and it’s a short 5 minute watch!

The first one I found was at American Apparel 2 weeks ago. They only have basic colors right now but I didn’t care! *_* I was happy to see them state-side so quickly. Then yesterday I went to Amuse at Tyson’s Corner and they had a number even some with patterned fabrics and lace! I picked up this simple polka dot version there. *_*

I also got a few more shorts last weekend. I didn’t have many from last summer that fit anymore so I picked up these 2 pair from Urban Outfitters. I figured the elasticized pair should fit through all eternity no matter my size changes right!? haaaaaahahahahaah!

I also needed some new black sandals. My favorite pair broke last summer *sigh* and I also need a few tanks. Ya know I lost my weight near the end of last summer. So I’m having to replace a lot of my summer wardrobe this year. Not complaining, just saying I’m having to buy a lot of stuff for this reason I got these cheap ($13) pair of shoes from Forever 21 and the Mickey tank was $13 too from F21

I don’t think I ever posted my Zara purchase from a few weeks ago. This is the only thing I own from Zara, haahaa! They’re knee length leggings for spring with cute little hearts on them

I haven’t been posting outfits either lately. Sorry, sorry~~ LOOOL. Here are a recent few~~ Nothing particularly special but you can tell how cold & hot the weather has been lately!! Also my Sunday looks make me lol~ Sundays have been my “off” days lately. I just throw whatever on, with no makeup, and completely unkempt hair~ off days are win.
OFF DAYS ARE WIIIIIIIIIN
Lately Sundays are days for chores and errands, less fun but necessary. :good:

Phoning it in on Sundays! LOL. Figured I’d post any & all looks even when they’re pretty low-key~

I’ve had purple nails for 2 weeks now. Using Rimmel’s 60 second nail polish in “Night Before” (shade 615.) It’s this dark purple with tiny red specs throughout~ I love quick dry polish. LOVE LOVE.

Though I’ve been wearing it for 2 weeks its chip lifespan is about 4~5 days, just FYI. I’ve just been re-applying haahaa~

Wow, what a change in your outfits! The weather’s been really weird over here where I live too. One day it’s cold and then the next day it’s like BURNING hot. It is said to be 0 degrees tonight, wtf!

I really like your 3rd outfit picture! Really cute and summery!

Cute headbands, and nice purse in the ice cream photo hee hee

I never been to an amuse before but I assume they are similar to franchesicas here in Chicago, a cute accessory store. I can’t wait to see your hair arrange with the usamimi look! so cute, I rocked it at a party Friday night but of course took no pictures, wasnt an official usamimi either.

I’m glad your feeling better too! hope things work out for you kiddo, seems like life has been throwing you fast balls recently but i promise it will get better soon! Nothing a little shop therapy can’t fix!

i’ve been loving うさ耳 a lot too~ there’s not much choices available right now unless you order online… I was thinking of making my own~~ DIY ftw! LOL!
people look at my うさ耳 like i’m crazy T___T
but i pity how they don’t have a creative mind to think it’s fun

That’s pretty neat that Target is starting to sell the tea. And for a cheaper price too! WIN!

*sigh* I really wish I had a good bakery near me.

BTW, I really love your hair in the second set when you tied it up in a bun with the side bangs. And your skin is looking absolutely flawless.

Oh that’s really not cool that noone will know if your sister can graduate until the last moment like that, how upsetting. I had some graduate troubles in my last semester too, but luckily they straightened everything out long before the end.

That cookie sandwich ice cream… XO How I long for it! Haha, I have been trying so hard to deprive myself while in Japan, I’m always hungry TT

For sure the Usa mi mi are being stalked by the gals here, especially the early teenagers. I see lots of them grabbing at the bins of usa mi mi (yes, literally bins of them haha)

I love all your coordinated, especially Sunday’s looks so comfy and fun!

Wow, the cookie looks sooo delicious!! Want want want!!!

I love the teas from Itoen!! Whenever I am in Japan, I only drink those :-)) Too bad we don’t have them here… only the small bottles, and they’re so expensive…

Lovely coordinates!! I can really lean from you, how to be more fashionable, that’s great! May I ask you for your height?? I may be wrong but we could probably have the same :-)

Many greetings!!

So many amazing outfits!! :O LOVE LOVE LOVE ❤
I’d been meaning to ask you how you’re feeling too, so I’m glad to hear it wasn’t anything major & you’re doing better!
I have to say too that I don’t think you’re being selfish or whatnot for not committing to going to your sister’s graduation… Travel = money & I wouldn’t want to gamble on the fact that she might not graduate either :/
On a happier note… The bunny ear headbands are SO CUTE!! ❤

Man I need to get to Georgetown sometime. I haven’t been there since I was like 23! It’s kind of a hassle because parking is SO HARD to find! x_x

If I were you, I’d do the same thing concerning your sister’s graduation. For her sake I really hope she makes it!

Cute daily outfits!

Ha ha! I’m sorry but some of those headbands style reminds me of pure ghetto-ness.
I remember in high school girls would wear them like that to replicate the “tu-pac” style!

I like the ones that don’t stand up straight ^ ^ they are really cute like head bows!

Oh goodness - is it really that big a deal to go to graduation? Ours was so cramped, they asked that we only bring 1 or 2 family members!

HAHA I love how the japanese have to have their panel’s reactions down in the right corner

I’ve been wearing the auntie-like coral nails, but black/purple is so bad ass! Have you seen Chanel’s mint-aqua color? WANT

Cute snaps, lady!

So glad to hear you are feeling better. Jasmine tea is soo good! :9 Why must American companies have such ugly packing though!? Ugh!

Best of luck with the graduation situation. I sooo know what you mean about who visits who, I have the same issue.

The cookie picture is FABulous, your lenses and lashes are rockin. You have to love random yummy food finds. All of your snaps are cute, you seem to make your cordinants seem so effortless.

Aw, your photo snaps are so lovely! And your make is so nice! I wonder, is there any good place to learn starting-out make tips? I have very little confidence when it comes to make and only a few products as well…but I’d like to know how to use them effectively. b (Sorry, guess you get enough questions like this on formspring! it’s fine if you don’t wanna answer -_-;

You still seem kinda down (from other sources), hope you’re doing alright.

Long post! I dont know what to comment on first! Haha.
I hope your sis pass too! we all miss our family members sometimes although there are times we find them irritating. Right? haha.
The bakery looks so cozy and inviting. Your eyes are huge in that pic. I’m so envious of ypur bangs! They obediently part and stay on a side sweep. My bangs are growing and they just don’t part so nicely like yours! I need a hair cut!!
I would love to drink teas like water everyday but I’m afraid of the caffeine! Although they should be very low on caffeine? You think?
Love the shorts! Especially the blue dotty ones. If only UO is avaliable in Singapore… I love their stuffs! The leggings are love too!

Love your outfits pics too. Its been so long I last post them on my blog…. =(
ok. My favorites are the first one (but of course, rite?LOL), the plaid shirt coord, the denim skirt plus black blazar coord, and the floral dress one! Though you look sooooo thin in that pic! No. it is not the high waist belt illusion. You are skinny!

Such a long comment. my apology.
