Magazines & Blister Defense

Monday, June 14th, 2010 | 46 Comments

Well I had more Popteen scans to share but Photoshop decided to be a jerk and crash with all of them unsaved…. so yeaaaaaaaaa~ hahahaa~

I received the July issue of Ranzuki today! I purchased it from the lovely Sara Mari here! :driftingheart:

I love Ranzuki~ I should really get a subscription but I always talk myself out of it. My magazine store doesn’t get it in so I can’t just “pick it up” and of course I could buy it online, but then again, I always talk myself out of it~ But I really do love the casual looks in this mag. Really the best amekaji and surf styles

I also got an issue of Better Homes & Gardens today… ??? Turns out it’s a year subscription gift from my Grandmother! A’WWWWWWWW! I used to gaze at this magazine at her house as a kid dreaming “some day~ I’ll have a big house & garden!” But now that I’m older (with a condo & a balcony garden instead, lol,) I still find it to be a helpful magazine with recipes, container garden ideas, and organization ideas! I look for to the HOLIDAY ISSUES so much :good:

I used that Blister Defense stick with a pair of my stiffest, blister-causing heels today! I have to say, I’m impressed~~ :good: I mean, the concept is simple. It’s basically just an oversized chap-stick you apply to your foot (lol) where blisters can occur. I reapplied it a few times today, just to be sure and NO BLISTERS! I even decided to push it and wear the red pumps to & from the train station! I rarely wear my heels to the train! Instead I pack my heels in a bag and wear flip flops or walking shoes. It’s not a miracle worker but it seriously will aid in the prevention of un-comfy shoe-caused blisters!
I’d buy it again~

Here are the red heels and my work coordinate from today~~~

Unrelated but, isn’t this scarf pretty???! I got it from Old Navy. I had seen it when I first went in to look at bathing suits. I was hesitant to buy it at first because I wasn’t sure what to use it for (it’s a huge wrap scarf!) So I kept passing it up, but Mike bought some clothes here the other day so I broke down & got it.

Figured I could at least use it as a bathing suit cover up, or a wrap skirt, or wrap tube top, or just a scarf, or giant head scarf pirate style…. HA! I told you it was huge!

It sorta reminded me of the Spring 2008 Alba Rosa collection that featured Rinka!

Pfffffffffffft btw I didn’t even notice Emihamu was in last month’s Popteen Pop Girls section! Hahahahaa! I was flippin’ through & saw it tonight. She was opposite of the newest Popteen model, Carolina, and I must have been distracted by the fact Carolina is only 13, hahahaa!

Oh yea, AND SURPRISE! Blogging 2 nights in a row! haahaa!

I love those red shoes you have there! I remember seeing them on your blog before but I forgot where you got them~? I might have to give those blister defense a try because a lot of my summer shoes give me blisters :(

Oh my gosh, I know! I can’t believe Carolina’s only 13…
In “some” shots she looks slightly older…
But that’s only because the whole gyaru style makes people look slightly younger..? (Imo)
I like your gray polka-dot cardigan! I need more cardigans etc!
*is already looking forward to fall-fashion~~*

Emihamu reminds me of Nana~~ ^^

I am just impressed that the magazine reached you that quickly, the post usually takes its sweet time haha!

I love your work coordinate, it’s totally appropriate but its stylish and cute. If I ever start working again haha, I will have to put more effort into my outfits. And I’m very glad to hear that the blister cream actually works, although I have more trouble with shoes rubbing my skin off and making open sores.

What is UP with Carolina anyway? I didn’t realize that she was a pre-teen, obviously she looks like a teen, but it’s a bit sad to see young people look old before their time. And her style…well why don’t they style her??

It’s sorta surprising too, you’re definitely not alone in this Carolina thing! I thought she was cute in this VERY SHORT spotlight they did with her earlier this year (though I didn’t know she was 13 then.) But then they made her a full model like OVERNIGHT wtf and cute turned to… annoyance for me. Hmmmmmmm I think I’ll blog about this haahahaaa~~

I have also been contemplating about getting the july issue of ranzuki but you gave me the extra push . Thats so sweet of your grandma to get you that magazine subcription for a year, I love how the people that love us pay attention to the little things that make us happy, and surprise us. Your work cordinate is pretty I love how your red shoes stand out. The oldnavy scarf is very summery, its pretty. Those popteen models keep getting younger and younger, but i doubt that they can get younger than 13 though

Yea I think 12 & under is definitely Seventeen territory or even better, Nicola!!!

Rinka is so esoteric - its’ like you can’t tell what nationality she is

The colors on that scarf are amazing - very Indian! You should try wrapping your head with it like Erika Badu haha

The white tie-bow is fantastic on your coordinate. You know what I want to do??? get some sandals and tie up the ankles with big soft tie-bows like that! LET’S DO IT

Yayayayay! You blogged again!
Anyways, i adored your outfit. It was the cutest thing ^-^
Where did you get your tan pants? I really love them, but nothing ever fits my height. (5′4′’
Zankyou ^^

jenny said
June 15, 2010 @ 5:22 pm

They’re the matchstick corduroy pants from J Crew. No worries I’m 5′ 1″ and these fit even when unrolled. They make “short” versions of their pants thank god LOL

hey jenny! two random questions:

1. what is the name of the cute anime hello kitty looking bear character? i think i saw you mention him in a past blog post but i can’t remember! he is tan color.

2. whats the easiest way to get false eyelashes as close to your natural lash line as possible? i can’t seem to get it right and i keep getting a double lash look!

thanks!

jenny said
June 15, 2010 @ 5:17 pm

1: Rilakkuma [リラックマ] ??

2: There’s some youtube videos out there that show how to place lashes as close as possible. Are you using black eyeliner first? Definitely use black eyeliner b/c this will hide any “gaps.” I find placing themon then pinching your natural lashes & the fakes together helps scoot the fakes close to the lash line. Don’t want to pinch too much though because you don’t want the fakes actually ON your lashes either (ouch ouch!)

No I actually bought them at a store called DSW. It’s like a TJMaxx or Marshall’s for shoes.

Such a sweet present from your grandma & I must say I love love your work coordinates! So cute & casual & put-together! You remind me of a J.Crew girl, haha ❤
The scarf you picked up is absolutely gorgeous too~ can’t wait to see what you do with it!

jenny said
June 15, 2010 @ 5:11 pm

Maybe the actual J Crew brand cords resonate throughout the entire outfit!? Haahaa, actually yea, I just sorta dress J Crew style for work b/c it blends in OK~~~ even so I still get comments. Like on this outfit someone at work called me “some chick with red pumps on” and asked me to “click my heels together 3 times Dorothy.”

That dot cardigan is adorable! You are a trooper to wear heels to & from your commute. I couldn’t even do that when I was taking the train (and that even with driving part of the way)! I almost exclusively wear flats to work now. Haha!

jenny said
June 15, 2010 @ 5:05 pm

Seriously it was tough! I used to wear my heels to & from the train but then I was like EFF THIS and got a big “train bag” that I pack my heels into instead now! Haahaa! But I did it! I wanted to give this stuff the ultimate test!
