Hello 2011 *thumbs up*

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I’ve got a bit of a headache. No doubt due to last night’s late hours & champagne. And my throat’s a bit dry; bothering me. But nevertheless I’m good!!

So I only have one real New Year’s Resolution. A 3-month spending freeze. I mentioned it a few too many times already. :F Basically no more spending frivolously on unneeded or new items including clothes, makeup, sweets, constant dinners out, etc. A few exceptions include any necessary replacement items (vacuum seems to be going & space heater literally died last night.) Refills on makeup such as the powder I always use, mascara, and my Clinique acne products, that sorta thing. Pre-existing magazine subscriptions from Fujisan.com, for others (birthdays, so on,) and lastly, Little Caesar’s 5$ Carry Out Pizza~ Mike had me add that one! He’s agreed to do this with me which will include no new XBOX games & movies & so on. Last exception is new phones. :good: I’ve put aside the amount I’m willing to pay already. So if that means waiting until February for my contract break fee to drop OR getting Mike’s phone on a good sale it’s fine.

Ok~ so I’m excited about that! My hope is to come out of it with a better grip on how I spend. Lately I know I’ve been more frivolous and unrestrained about it because I’ve got no big saving goal in mind. :F Usually I’m saving for a trip or a big purchase but not now so I’ve had no motivation to save. :( I guess my motivation now is the American crap economy & wanting a bigger safety net! Gaaah.

AND…
Thank you everyone for your comments concerning Bare Escentuals makeup too~ In the end I decided to hold off on trying something new. Seems like it could break me out maybe and wouldn’t provide more coverage than my current concealer + powder. And I know for sure my skin isn’t adverse to those :good: I’m so surprised though, SO many people have tried BE!! I’m glad I brought it up ! Much more helpful than the makeupally & sephora reviews :good: THANK YOU!

I’m off to rest my throbbing head…

Happy New Year Jenny!
I know what you mean about saving… I also find it difficultto save when I have nothing to save for. But I have been spending without thought lately also… Maybe too much cheer from the holiday season drove me a bit spend-crazy.
Good luck with your 3-month spending freeze plan!!!

I took am trying something different with money this year. Trying to build a saftey net. Get out of debt and stop spending so frivolously. It’s harder I think when you’re a blogger and everyone around you is displaying lookbookss/collections or recommending things they think you might like etc.

jenny said
January 2, 2011 @ 6:59 pm

Oh god yes!! Now I’ll just live vicariously through other bloggers rather than cruising for recommendations and collection announcements =Y

Happy New Year!
Such a good resolution! I’m trying to hold off on spending this year as well, especially since last year and the year before, I spent so much on items I just liked at the moment… such a terrible habit, and I’m really trying to re-evaluate my wardrobe and spending habits! It just sucks that all these adorable clothes are so accessible, and online shopping is just a click away!

jenny said
January 2, 2011 @ 7:01 pm

Ah yeah, getting a handle on the wardrobe can definitely help get a grip on spending too. Getting together a few fav outfits so you’re not always thinking “Oh I just need this ONE LAST THING and then my closet will be perfect!” That becomes an endless chase for me I think.

I feel that lately, I’ve been very good at saving after spending a lot of time in thrift stores. The thrill of finding something really good keeps me sane in the often musty stores. Oh and the price can’t be beat, hah

thats a really good new years resolution!! I like that you are taking this whole crap economy seriously, because if more people had actually saved instead of running up their credits cards, we probably wouldnt be in this position now….. good luck!! this will challenge you on making cute outfits with nothing new too!

jenny said
January 2, 2011 @ 7:28 pm

Oh lawd Credit Cards! IKR!!! I stopped using mine so long ago that they closed out my accounts without telling me because I “didn’t use them enough.” Credit Card companies only want you if you’re spendin’ spendin ;-;

The spending freeze is a great idea! I typically don’t spend much money (cause I don’t have much!) but after saving up about 1k for the WWoHP in October, I got OUT of the habit of saving and INTO the habit of SPENDING! Whoops -_-

As for BE, I say it’s always best to stick with what your skin KNOWS and works well with; even if the reviews and such say you should give it a go you never know how your skin will react!

Good luck with the saving & spending freeze!

& LITTLE CAESARS?! All of those closed in VA in the mid 90s! Amazing you still have some around! =O

Mochi is OK nothing spectacular, this one’s plastic *weeeee* I only eat mochi in froyo usually.

Yeah! Nearly everything I buy I buy on sale or clearance but then I think I end up buying more because it’s at such a good price that I end up buying a lot more than I really need ;-; *damn sales*

It’s still superfantastic as always!

Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEARRRRRRR. AKEMASHITE OMEDETOUUUUUUUU! BONNE ANNEE!! And all that I feel like the older I get, the less (amount) resolutions I have but the ones I have tend to be big - like save money for something big and whatnot. I need a spending freeze too. Just so many things I want! Wish you and Mike the best of luck with it! **There’s always a trip to Japan you could be saving for ;Dy You can never visit too often methinks

Happy belated new years to you too!! the champagne in your first photo looks yummy~~ My sister got a Chilean strawberry one that was really good!! -licks lips- It was listed as 06 so while it wasn’t sugary sweet, it had a nice natural hint of strawberry sweetness without the horrible dryness of cheap champagne hahaha What phones are you and Mike thinking of getting btw? I really wanted to get the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate phone but my stupid plan isn’t eligible for the upgrade yet as I found out after getting up at 5 to go to best buy for their $0 smartphone promotion!! DX (Canada has THE worst phone plans. ever.)

Even though I’m a uni student living at home and usually only work during the summer, my saving plan is usually to decide in advance how XX% of each paycheck will be placed into a savings account, no matter what. This really helped me in limiting my spending since I only had XYZ amount to spend and make sure I always have a nice little cache safely stashed away for any important emergencies ^^. Ex. when I had some large health issues the past year, I had money saved up to help pay for treatments and stuff. I’m guessing you probably already do something similar so maybe up the percentage you deposit into your savings account to help you in your goal of cutting down spending? Wish you the best of luck in succeeding in your resolutions!!

January 4, 2011 @ 5:45 pm

Happy New Year!
I know what you mean about spending and saving. Instead of staying in one place and saving up to buy a house or something, we tend to want to move to a new country to explore it and the surrounding countries. Thus we never end up saving much. But on the other hand, when we get old, we can say that we did many things in our lives ;-). So saving is good, but don’t let it prevent you from enjoying life, too. :-)
