Jenny Doll and Fat-tastic

Jan 24, 2011

It’s only Monday and already I’m exhausted from the week. :ng: My apologies for the twitter ranting today lol. :crap: Is it really only Monday? :facepalmcry:
I still can’t believe after a total frustrating work day someone stole my snack from the office kitchen just to top it off as a shit day. :facepalmcry:
Sigh. So I dunno how long this entry will be. :( I don’t have much in particular to blog. Actually I scanned in the “Jenny” doll catalog Veronica sent me. I thought it was funny. Each doll is like a different gal style including one that dresses in very MA*RS like clothing! Jenny is a dress-up doll from the early 80’s that was the Japan equivalent to Barbie. Here are the pages.

クール (cool)
ポップカジュアル (pop casual)
姫ギャル (princess gal)
ラブカワ (love cute)
お姉さん (older sister)

This weekend it was so so cold. :sqsnowman: I didn’t go out too much. Only for a few hours each day. I also got my hair trimmed. :laughingheart: It’s a bit shorter than what I got in November. :) I love this length and I might get it trimmed to this a few more times. My perm is a bit freshened too with the trim. I was getting annoyed since the previous cut was growing out and resting on my shoulders now.

I ran out of my favorite hairspray though. I use the Schwarzkopf line Got2b. Actually I love Schwarzkopf because, before it arrived in the states, I had bought some Taft while attending school in Germany and it smelled soooo good. Like men’s cologne. :blushingcute: Oh yeah, and I used the “Glued” spiking paste when I was in college and had pixie hair! Anyway. :whoafreak:

I like the Fat-tastic :star: line with COLLAGEN! [Collagen is my 'thing' right now, obviously] I have all 3 of these products now. But I can’t find the hairspray in large form! :facepalmcry: Only tiny free bonus size :facepalmcry:. Last time I got it with the Root-Boosting Spray. Btw that works! I bought it this summer when I still had long hair. :twinkle: The first day I used it a coworker remarked my hair looked lively and bouncy looool. :laughingheart: Bonus about the Root Boost is it can be applied to dry hair and still works great. :good:

I just bought the Thickening Plumping Mousse this week because I needed the hairspray. :smallcry: So far the mousse seems nice! The hair spray I still lovvvvve. I love it even more for my short bob hair. It’s a very strong spray but doesn’t weigh the hair down. :updiamond: I used to use it on my curls if I wanted them to be tight and not get blown all over. I think it’s better for shorter hair though. Keeps my hair curled under all day! :ohyeslovely: Only downside is I don’t like the smell so much but it disappears shortly after drying. :dizzy: It doesn’t smell bad, just … meh. :toto: I’m spoiled from Victoria’s Secret scented hairspray. :snot: But that hairspray worked better on my long hair, I need something stronger these days.

Alright~ here’s to a better TOMORROW! :crap:

  2. Cindii says:

Cute trim! It looks adorable on you but sophisticated at the same time.

LOL you used the pudding photo app~

  3. miya says:

the trim looks great! I would LOVE it if you did a flashback post of what you looked like in college! :x

    • jenny says:

Haahaaa hummmm I’ll see what I can find. Sadly I didn’t get a digi camera until senior year and there are definitely chunks of my uni life not caught on film ;(

  4. Ingrid says:

I can’t believe someone stole your office snack! I don’t know, I get very protective of food haha and feel your pain.

I still haven’t tried any VS hair products yet but I keep wanting to try their stuff after reading your blog.

  5. Erin says:

    Your new background is adorable!

I had no idea you went to school in Germany, btw. I must have started following you after? Or I’m just very bad at actually reading your posts, haha.

    • jenny says:

Oh no, the Internet didn’t exist back then! Lol just kidding. But yea that was before I had a blog. Back in 2000. Blogs were a fairly new concept then XD. I didn’t start my own until 2002.

  6. Vermillion says:

Cute haircut~ It looks great on you! ^^

And it’s kinda sad that someone stole your pear :(

  7. chocoNIKKI says:

Oh wow, I love those Jenny dolls, I collect dolls~ (I wish some of the outfits came in my size, hehe~) Oh and I soooo envy your hair!! I’m admittedly lazy, but even when I “try” (I’ve never used product though) to volumize it by blowdrying etc etc, it still falls FLAT! =O Maybe I’ll try some of the products you listed~ The root stuff sounds good~! lol

    • jenny says:

Actually all these outfits are based on real life Japanese brands \:D/

Ah yea. Before my body perm if I just blow dried, no product, it would go flat within 5 minutes EASY ;(

  8. Aelia says:

Your hair looks absolutely fabulous! Mine’s deader than dead, so the next time I’m in the States I’ll have to check out those products!

    • jenny says:

I think this brand is actually all over the world so maybe you could find it nearby. But there’s something to be said for dead hair. Wash & go no fuss!

  9. hiika says:

wow your hair grows quite fast! I’ve been thinking of either going blonde (I’m naturally dark brown and my hair is around mid-boob length) or getting a cute bob ^_^ I’ll see what my hair dresser says when I see her this weekend!

^^ Hahahahaha it’s so funny that they named a doll “Jenny”!! Was there any particular reasoning behind naming the various dolls or were the names just randomely chosen? Oh and you studied in Germany before? *0* That’s soooo cool! How long and when? Was it an exchange program and did you take your classes in German or English? That’s so cooooool~~~

    • jenny says:

I don’t know the reason behind the names though I do know they had originally called it a “Barbie” and Mattel sued them.

I studied there for a summer back in High School :) It was an exchange program and the classes were in German. I used to be pretty damn good at the language. Now I make mistakes like crazy :(

  10. Hang in there! We all hate mondays in one way or another, lol. Your hair looks great after the trimming!

  11. Tasja says:

Cool! I like your hair how it is now ^^
It looks even better than the old haircut.. and I already thought that one was fab :D

Also those dolls are kinda funny xD

  14. Alyse says:

Someone stole your snack??? Mofos… that’s lame =/ Sorry you had a sucky Monday. Maybe if you watch some Office Space and eat some ice cream, you’ll feel better ^_^*

I’ve been experimenting with hair spray recently too! I just picked up Crepe Free Arrange (I was using mousse and wax before, but it wasn’t doing much =_=;) and was able to sculpt a sicc pompadour [http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=53935320&l=848ef8534c&id=5736101] And it stayed all day!! Didn’t leave my hair all sticky either~~ I love discovering new products lol

The new cut is cute!! Frames your face nicely!♥
    Here’s to a better tomorrow!!♪

    • jenny says:

  17. Veronica says:

Yay your trim is super adorable – glad you liked the Jenny flyer, the cher-inspired one made me think of you

    • jenny says:

LOL every “Jenny” doll (friends) is like a genre of gal style, quite hilarious! I saw the fake Cher!! Fake Cher is everywhere even in doll world! Ha!

  18. mika says:

Aaw, those dolls are so cute, wish I could’ve played with gyaru dolls as a kid ^_^

and I love got2be hairspray as well :)

  19. Mari says:

Yeah , Schwarzkopf is a great hairspray!!!!

You had attend a school in Germany? That really cool because i´m from germany :D

    • jenny says:

HALLO!! :P I did, only a little while in an exchange program. My spoken/written German ist sehr schlect jetzt, but I still love the language/country/EVERYTHING XD

  20. Suteisi says:

    The dolls are super cute!

And your hair looks fantastic n___n//

  21. Thao says:

Haha Jenny doll. That’s pretty cool. I like how you can bend their knees.

Newbie question, but when and how do you use hair products? Like what’s the difference and usage for hairspray and mousse? I rarely use them and when I did, it was for competition where I needed my hair tied into the bun with no hair sticking out and my hair would be hard as a shell. But for styling purposes, how would you use them?

    • jenny says:

Ah well, I advise much reading of the back of the bottles for directions! They’re usually pretty clear about whether hair should be damp, dry, styled, blah blah. Mousse is pre-blow drying used on damp hair. So towel-dry hair, mix in a plop size squirt then blow dry. Hairspray is a setting spray whether it’s a mist or aerosol. It’s used at the very end after you’ve styled your hair to KEEP it in place.

  22. Bianca says:

yah it looks alot better, it was getting into that awkard stage (deg gurl yo hair gro fassst) you look hella cute in your lepard coat btw! is that a fun iphone app btw that took that awesome photo :P GtB doesnt work with my hair type, ive tried, i need to use african products to get it to be this awesome :D

  23. Anonymous says:

OH TWITTER. home of the mini-rants. i obviously use twitter for my rants, so i don’t blame you at all for doing the same 8)

wow ok, your bangs look so nice and thick. LOVE the bob~ you and one of my friends recently got a perm and now i’m thinking i want one D:

hope the rest of your week is better!!

    • Sidney says:

oh that was me, btw. oooops haha

      • jenny says:

        Myseterious stranger! LOL
Ah my bangs look thick!? OPTICAL ILLUSION! Haahaa, actually PRODUCT ILLUSION thank goodness. This is why I can’t ever move, b/c she’s the first hairdresser to ever give me GOOD BANGS. Too bad I’ll butcher her handiwork in 2 months with my attempts to trim them hahaaa

  24. Jenii says:

Cuuuuuuuuute hair cut!! I’m thinking about going back to a bob myself…trying to figure out what kind of style though :D

Oooh, I’ll have to check out the beauty supply for that hairspray for you…they might have it in a larger size for stylist use.

Why are those dolls soo much classier looking than American Barbie?!!!

  25. Courtney says:

Sorry for the crap day! :/
I hope you’re feeling more cheered now that Friday is almost here! :Dv
OH nice that some of JENNY’s fashions are still relevant! heh heh

Love your tight bob! I would consider the same if I wasn’t missing my long hair so much right now. By the way, did you lighten your hair in anyway? It seems to be getting blonder and blonder!
Personally, I never use hair spray though I bet it would help with my frizzy hair. I just hate how it “crunches” your hair up so much you can’t put your fingers through it! I’d rather it look like crap but feel nice. ”^^>

    • jenny says:

Nope, no coloring~ I think having the darker layers of my natural color gone due to the cut leaves mostly the top lighter blond I guess. My hair is natural like 3 different shades. I like to think of it as my Italian & Irish genes duking it out color-wise!

  26. Mai says:

You went to school in Germany? Did you study abroad there :O?!

  27. cin says:

I love how the Jenny dolls are so fashionable!
    Jenny doll Cher bag! :D

  28. immori says:

lol! I used to have one of those jenny dolls when i was young. Thought that it was a rip-off of barbie. turns out i’m wrong :P
