Current Can’t Get Enough

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011 | 63 Comments

I wrote this a few weeks ago but never got around to posting it. But it’s still really relevant so here it is!! Things I’m loving/obsessed with lately~~~

BROWN EYELINER

I have 2 brown eyeliners. Dolly Wink’s and a cream liner from my Shu Uemura palette. I go through phases of using brown eyeliner sometimes. I wear it on days I’m not wearing lashes so usually to work/weekdays. I like how bold my eyelashes look drenched in rich black fiber mascara against a lighter eyeliner color.

BEIGE BLUSH

I need to find a really lively beige blush. Less orange more peach. I have a beige it’s a bit orange though from Bihada Ichizoku. I also have a more peach beige in a Shu Uemura palette. But I really need something in between…. but I shouldn’t be buying more makeup either since I have so much already.

RETRO COLLAR CLOTHING

Duuur this one is so huge, I love lace collars on shirts and dresses. A bit difficult to find in the US but slowly I’m seeing things. I want to buy more of it Everything from lace, to ribbons, to peter pan collars. Basically anything & everything from Dazzlin this season. I saw a beige, lace, polka dot, peter pan collar dress at F21 last week. It was pretty cute, but had cap-sleeves (no me gusta) and looked ultra shotty cheap *cries*

NUDE NAIL POLISH

I usually find nude colors boring but for spring I’m just really into the flesh-toned, opaque nail looks. Ranging in hues from pink, white, to browns.

ROSE SCENT

I used to hate rose scented things when I was younger because they reminded me if my Mom. But in recent years I’ve started to like if more. Now I LOVE it. I want any fragrance with rose notes, I drink rose-infused teas, I love rose flavored stuff like drinks and candy drops! ROSE ROSE ROSE! Funnily enough I dislike most “floral” scents in general. Only a select few flowers do I enjoy as fragrance . Above is everything from rose tea, rose scented candle (which is now burned completely,) Anna Sui rose-scented makeup, Bison rose bath salts, rose fragrance from Victoria’s Secret, Bvlgari, Pink-G lotion.

VITAMIN GUM

I loooove vitamins and there are all these vitamin infused gums coming out right now!!!!!!!!!

Wooow, that’s a lot to be obsessed with. haha. But that’s okay, we all have are obsessions! Kind of inspires me to a post like this one day. Hehe. I used to think roses smelled like old people, but I enjoy it now and again. I REALLY love rose tea ever since my sister bought me some packets from China.

jenny said
April 15, 2011 @ 8:03 am

Yea rose tea is something I’ve loved for so long but often it’s hard to find. This one is a subtle rose flavor but I like when the rose taste has a real oompf!

i loooove using brown eyeliner too! it’s nice for a change from black all the time ♥

Agreed and sometimes when I use black every day I think it’s strange looking when I don’t have it on! Changing to brown helps get rid of that silliness xD

if you don’t mind used/vintage, etsy has *a lot* of retro-collar shirts and dresses. they even sell removeable collars, which are cute if you want to update (or, er, retro-fy?) a shirt you already have.

for some reason, i’ve been ridiculously obsessed over cath kidston stuff. i’ve bought 2 iphone covers in different prints in the past week. i dunno, it’s just so cute and dainty and quaint!

jenny said
April 15, 2011 @ 8:06 am

I’ve seen those removable collars for sale!!! I try to imagine which shirts I have that would work well with them but have a difficult time since all my shirt necklines are strange lol. Thanks for letting me know though! I’m gonna check that out!

Oh ho ho Cath Kidston stuff is FANTASTIC!!! Do they sell the iphone covers on the official site? I’ve never seen them :O

They do! It’s here: http://www.cathkidstonusa.com/c-765-iphone-cases.aspx

I was able to find some on ebay for a bit cheaper though. My favorite print is the spray flowers print in white and I found the case on eBay on auction. I was able to get it for $12 shipped and am using it right now

OMG thank you!!! Ah yeah $40 but I love the London one and the red floral SO much! I’m gonna look to ebay too then!!

Ooh, retro girly style is something I’ve been really wanting to get into with it popping up in all the magazines and everything, but I need to save money lol!! I really like the ones you’ve purchased so far.

jenny said
April 15, 2011 @ 8:10 am

Yea I feel this retro stuff is a bit pricey compared to other trends because it requires so much detail like chiffon, lace, ribbon etc ;_;

waaaaah “Delicate Petals” but it’s discontinued & extremely hard to find now m._.m Hopefully they’ll introduce a new one soon. However I did just purchase a fragrance from Crabtree & Evelyn called “Rosewater.” They have it in lotion form & other stuff

Love this post~! I’ve been on such a ‘nudy’ kick too, haha~ makeup, clothes, everything. Your nail polish colours are fantastic~
& have I mentioned that retro girly style was made for you? ;3

I think it’s the spring in us! Because early this winter I was all MONOTONE MONOTONE now I guess sticking to nude shades is still like monotone but not as “severe!”

Awe psshaw, ty for saying though, lately a coworker asked if I changed my style o_o;; so I guess it’s bleeding into my work looks lately too xD

April 14, 2011 @ 12:13 am

Oh, I definitely agree with you on the Rose scent, Dolly Wink liner, and wanting a more peach-ish blush! The orange trend is really big now, but for my skin tone, it just doesn’t work out! But I think if I could find one that is more peach than orange, then maybe it would work!

I’m LOVING the retro trend! I hope that I can stock up on some clothes soon! ^^

Good luck in your beige cheek quest!! I’ve seen some “bronzers” lately that are more beige cheek colored that could work, contemplating buying one last night but saved my $ instead xD

I get that lace collar obsession. I’ve been surfing fashionwalker a lot lately and I cannot get enough of the vintage collar tops/dresses either!

I think I have the red version of your peter pan lace collar dress!

I have to stay away from FW!! I feel all kinds of want when browsing & shopping services are just too alluring xDDDD But when I do get on I’m clicking for hours *__*!!

It is such a dangerous website! Btw, not to sound like a creeper or anything but I totally got those pairs of Snidel lace up wedges that you posted on tumblr a while ago as a White Day gift. They are my favorite pair of shoes right now!

jenny said

I wish their webstore & other webstores that carry Dazzlin would restock sooner Dx I wish I didn’t have to use a shopping service to get it Dx I wish they’d ship internationally at non-insane prices. I have lots of wishes LOL

jenny said

Rose shower gel then maybe!? Difficult to find ;____; Rose scent is not easy to find here, I don’t know why, it’s rare. Maybe it’s expensive to make? LOL Or seen as “old?” Here everything is “pomegranate” scented LOL! TREND SCENT

YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!! I already have Bvlgari’s full bottle of rose perfume on my MUST GET list LOL!! Is it out yet? I need to sniff it

Have you sniffed the just released ISSEY MIYAKE scent “L’Eau d’Issey Florale?” This is the description:
Notes:
Mandarin, Lily, Rose, Musk, White Wood.
Style:
Modern. Feminine. Elegant.

I’m modern, feminine & elegant right!? lulz I smelled it last night. At 47$ for the smallest size (it’s not TOO small, it’s normal) it’s NOT bad! I want it LOL

Ah I can’t do the blush in my cheek hollows thing b/c I look like skeletor with my crazy high cheekbones already hahaaa!

Oh this must be the Chloe scent you were talking about:

Notes:
Pink Peony, Freesia, Lychee, Magnolia Flower, Lilly of the Valley, Rose, Cedarwood, Amber, Honey.

I NEED TO SNIFF THIS! But omg 1oz is $60… I might look into getting the roller at a cheaper $25 then =_=;;

Oh nevermind the rose one is called “Rose Edition” & Sephora is calling it “Rosebud” da fuuu my life is difficult LOL

I’m too lazy to delete all I wrote fuuuu

Lovely description though~!
Notes:
Pink Peony, Freesia, Lychee, Magnolia Flower, Lilly of the Valley, Rose, Cedarwood, Amber, Honey.
Style:
Chic. Comfortable. Addictive.

Addictive oh god LOL
1.7oz at $85 waahahawawawa ;_;

Had no idea there were vitamin gums, I have like 5 bottles of different vitamins & I always forget to take them, but gums I wouldn’t lol. TC

jenny said
April 15, 2011 @ 9:38 am

Yeah most the gums specialize in select few vitamins like C or B12 but still better than nothing on days you forget! I have been particularly bad at forgetting my extra C every day lately =_=

I love rose things too~! But I think it’s because of my mom instead, she’s uber obsessed with them, and that influenced me..! =D (Also, I think it’s mostly the packaging and romantic/delicate and feminine feeling that roses evoke that really gets me, ~~)

jenny said
April 15, 2011 @ 9:40 am

That’s true, the packaging for rose items is usually very beautiful, nostalgic, and feminine!

April 14, 2011 @ 1:14 pm

Oh I love the retro collars so much. It’s true; I’ve been seeing so much more of them here too lately . Happy Nami! Is that blouse from H&M? If so, I have the same one except in white. When I found it I thought “I MUST HAVE IT” since I was looking for a white light-fabric blouse and I love ribbon-ed collars so it was the most perfect find in centuries. Now if only the weather got warmer. LOL.
I’ve always loved rose scents so much. And you know, because of you I’m so eager to try out these Japanese bath salts. I can’t seem to find any nice looking once on the web though, hmm :/ ..
I’ve never tried brown eye liner at all, I wonder how it would go with me since I’m a lightly tanned half-Asian girl haha, but hey I see a lot of Asians rocking it so yeah. (Cough, I don’t usually wear make up though..)

jenny said
April 15, 2011 @ 9:48 am

The brown pink blouse ribbon tie one is! Ah I had a hard time choosing between this color & the white one! I love white but I have a sleeveless blouse in white already so I tried to diversify. LOL. I like this color too of course

You can find the bath salts I have pictured here at imomoko! They’re $4.99 a pack ;__; but in Japan they’re already about $3.00 anyway :(

Nami said
April 15, 2011 @ 12:49 pm

Oh yes, I only had a lolita fashion sleeveless blouse in pink (it’s frilly doesn’t easily go with “normal fashion”. And I didn’t even see other colours, but I was looking for a white blouse anyway so it was perfect.

Ohh, I should look into that. $4.99 isn’t THAT bad as long as I don’t buy a ton, haha.

beige cheek i use is from TARTE.
they usually are on sale at sephora.
its a type of stick you rub it on your cheek
and then spread it with your finger.
i used to use the powder type but it makes
my skin looks so dry that i stopped using them.
maybe you might like it too.
they have nice color^^.
its a bit expencive but i already have 2 of them
here’s the link.

http://www.sephora.com/browse/brand_hierarchy.jhtml?brandId=5648&om_mmc=esv108602-GG&om_kwpur=109738422&ppc_crid=4981670417&sbanner=us_search&esvcid=S1302804874_ADOGOB_AGI1215510_CRE4981670417_TID109738422_RFDd3d3Lmdvb2dsZS5jb20%3d

i love rose scent too! im using rose body wash
from caswell massey(i dont think i spelt that right)!
and i drink the same tea as you!!

retro collar clothes are what im looking for but i cant
find any in the US -______-
F21 as you said were kind of cheap looking.

jenny said

oooh i usually match up my brown eyeliner w/brown mascara…but i really like your idea of using the black w/the brown to emphasize your lashes!! totally gonna try it soon~~

and there are SO MANY ‘old fashioned’ collars around here right now. i go shopping and see them and think of you lol

jenny said
April 15, 2011 @ 8:58 pm

I remember you have that brown pink mascara xDDDDD!!! Oh I’m not surprised at all seeing how many are on YS xDD I’m beginning to think a lot of Japan’s “trends” are directly Korea derived (like mode style, dolmen sleeves you know, and now these retro collars) but I don’t follow Korean fashion enough to see a direct connection. Have you noticed that at all? =Y

Sidney said
April 15, 2011 @ 9:29 pm

i notice korea seems to be inspired by japan but then takes it and spins it into it’s own thing. or maybe they both feed off each other, or something? but yeah, i’ll notice trends in japanese fashion will usually very quickly be in the cheap clothing stores in korea. though fashion here doesn’t change as quickly, the ‘norm’ is skinny jeans and a baggy top or a skirt/shorts and leggings/tights.

jenny said
April 15, 2011 @ 9:31 pm

Ah ok, thank you! I’m not surprised to hear about the skintight jeans + baggy top \// given what I often see on some shop sites!

Test in the store I guess? If you buy OPI from Sephora you can check online to see if it’s opaque first. I usually just do multiple coats. I buy instant dry so it’s not too much hassle.

April 17, 2011 @ 10:05 am

I looooove brown eye liner! I have blue eyes and a long time ago someone told me that brown would compliment them best and I’ve been using brown eyeliner ever since. I recently started to use MAC’s LORD IT UP and it’s the most amazing eye liner I’ve ever used in my life.

I’ve never heard of Vitamin gum before! I’m surprised that Japan isn’t all over that~ maybe it’s coming soon ^^~
