Pentagon City & Chinatown
Wednesday, July 6th, 2011 | 53 Comments

This weekend we went down to Pentagon City for some shopping/walking. I tried on shoes and countless dresses. One shop had some really cute, I think Korean imported maybe,
dresses. Fun fabrics and easy shapes. I didn’t buy any, just tried.

Later in the day we stopped off at Chinatown for food. It was an awkward time, late lunch but pre-dinner. So naturally many places I wanted to eat at were closed. BUT Clyde’s was open
. I’m always happy with my food, service, and atmosphere of Clyde’s.
I got a “Thai” turkey burger that came with sweet chili sauce and a honey mustard or something. Ended with strawberry ice cream pie and cappuccino.

Then went to Urban Outfitters and Zara. Tried on a ton of clothes but no buy
lol. Seriously Mike is always so patient when shopping.
At Zara I tried on 16 items, only allowed 6 at a time!
Even if he disagrees, I’ve used up like half a year’s worth of “change room waiting time husband patience!”
Then went to H&M!
See, I went crazy.
But finally I bought something. This cardigan and skirt. Always loving border style. It’s got the brown suede elbow patches too. I’ve eyed it before.

I was just hating everything I tried on.
I was having one of those moments where it’s like “who am I, is this what I wear? Is this really me? Do I really like this? I duuuuuunnnnno~~~”
After H&M we ran to the metro in a heavy thunderstorm.
Ok, the metro stop is right around the block, BUT STILL!
My feet still ache but a good ache. Healthy walking. Also Dr Scholl’s fast flats saved me this day~~~~

I love the little outfit you ended up getting!
I also got those fast flats, haven’t used them yet (glad to see someone else has good things to say about them), but I know they’ll be useful to me when I move to NYC ^__^;
I had mine for a while before I used them too actually. But they’re great especially when you go out in cute high heels thinking you’ll only be a few hours & it turns into an all day walkathon!!
I hate fail shopping when everything you grab looks like it might work in your wardrobe then you second guess and get tired, eventually get burned out! At least you don’t feel obligated to buy things when you out to the big shops
. That’s why online shopping is so bad
YES! Exactly what happened to me this day I think. So burned out Dx
Hey, Jenny. Have you tried the freebie that went with the July issue of Vivi? I don’t wanna use it until I know that the item works.
Thanks ^^
I have no idea what it is? LOL I didn’t get that issue. Vivi rarely does furoku, what was it exactly? Maybe I tried it already, whatever it is xDD
It was either this one or similar to it.

very cute outfit you ended up getting
I just hate the thought of trying on heaps of clothes, none are perfect, but you still want to buy something, and I’m glad you bought something
Ugh that’s how I felt! I really wanted to find something GREAT you know? And kept striking out over & over. I also bought another border top that day from H&M too lol
My bf isnt that patient when I shop. I hardly ever try things on but I browse for ages. He’ll be like ‘you looked at that before, just get it’. But I’m still thinking! =_=
Love that cardi you got. I’m been looking at outers with that elbow patch thingy. It’s cute on you ^^
Hahaah I do that too! I will straight up stare at something for agesssssssssssss and Mike will talk me through “what would you wear it with? It looks like something you already have though…” etc etc. I usually hate making multiple trips to the dressing room. But this day I was just feeling quite gun-ho for it, dunno.
That all looks amazing
I love the professor patches!
Oh I feel le smart now with this cardi LOL
Aww! It seems you do like that mini star pendant necklace! I love that cardigan! I adore border style too! My friends always tell me “Don’t you have enough stripes!?” lol X3
I know right, I wear it almost every single day now
YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH STRIPES!!! I used to feel the same way but I’ve full on given into border.
i really like that cardi, is that part of the summer or pre fall collection? i always wanted an elbow patch piece but the ones last fall at zara wear mad expensive…..and ITS ZARA
I think it was spring actually, it’s been out & restocked many times so I guess it’s a current “staple item” or basic or whatever.
OMG nice!! I think my sister have that polka dot dress too, it might not be all the same but it really looks alike!
Oh I just saw that.. Did you just cut your bang?
HAHAHA I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU NOTICED!! YES!
My bangs were not looking as good & easy to style after my perm is gone plus sweaty summer heat. So I cut them blunt style. I had this style all last year & before. But still…. it’s strange when I look in the mirror now LOL. Such a small change.
Awe it’s a cute dress right!?
I love the cardigan! How much was it? I totally want one loool
I want to say it was $24 if not less ($20.)
That cardigan is sooo adorable! I saw a suede item when I was at H&M today but it was so hot the second I touched it I had to move away because I didn’t want to think about long sleeves at all lol….
Was it a skirt?! I saw a suede skirt there yesterday. OMG would be hellish to wear right now LOL
Seriously. Red is your colour.
Thank you
It’s good, it happens to be my FAVORITE color but I don’t have many red clothing items for some reason =Y
I miss Pentagon City (never thought I’d say that
). Chinatown.. not so much, but it had it charms too. I did like the Fuddruckers over there, is it still open?? (I think I saw it in one of photos above actually lol)
I think it’s good to be able to try on clothes without feeling like you have to buy them. I think I feel a little when I get into dressing rooms. Like I spent all this time in the shop, bothering clerks about sizes and whatnot, trying on all these different things only to find nothing to buy. Like I’m wasting their time..! lol
Very cute outfit! Is it a skirt or shorts? Very cute and girly♥
Chinatown in DC imo = Zzzzzzz & yeah the restaurant is in my photo! Haahaa! DC Chinatown has so many commercial franchise eateries.
It’s a skirt actually. VERY thick khaki-like material so it’ll be good come cooler days too. Yea I used to feel SO pressured, especially in boutiques, to buy something if I try things on, but now I don’t care because if I like it I’ll buy it, if I don’t then why should I. I always apologize and thank anyone assisting me though if I don’t buy something LOLOL, *helps soften me feeling like an ass*
lovley photos. what is the store called that had the korean dresses? i would love to check it out when i am back in my hometown (nova!). also, i love your outfit. i know exactly what you mean though. sometimes i go through phases like that as well. you explained it perfectly haha. i was also wondering where you got your little image icons. i really want to start incorporating little things like that into my blogging as well. hope you do not mind if i use some! :3 don’t worry, i won’t steal your bandwith! i will upload them on my own photobucket.
Ah I don’t remember, let me see….. “Francesca’s Collections”
I finally found a hard case sunglasses holder for under $20 there! SO HAPPY!
The little icons are from Japanese sozai sites or free Japanese decomail app icons
oooh they seem to have a website too. time for some browsing … :3
Aw sounds like a wonderful day, and it looked so sunny to start with too
Your food is making me hungry again!! The cardy is so cute, not sure about the elbow patches myself though
Ah but the elbow patch is the best part hahaha xDDDDD
I looove the cardi!! Been looking for elbow patched cardi/sweater for winter but it’s nowhere to be found :( Stupid Australian 6 mths behind fashion!
The dresses looks cute too! The didn’t look as nice on? I like how it’s a simple cut~
They were too big =Y. They were S but I guess I needed XS :( They didn’t carry that size though and at $44 each I figured I should pass.
Nice H&M items. Never seen them here in Germany…
They fit so well to you^^
Yeah I don’t think we all get the same stuff. I see things sold in European H&Ms they we never ever get here x(
awee…your polkadots mini dress is cute!
Thanks! I only tried it on though, so it’s not really mine
Love the outfit! So cute. *
* And that Thai turkey burger sounds all kinds of yum!
I’m still thinking about that burger a week later O_O;; DELICIOUS
I am in love with that first group of photos you took ♥ Pentagon City looks so pretty! I swear, I’ve been to DC a number of times but I feel like I still miss so much, haha
That Thai turkey burger looks YUM~ I have a thing for turkey burgers anyway though, lol~ & OMFG H&M. That is where I did all of my city shopping & I could have bought MORE but luckily they were out of my size in a lot of things! I get that way too when shopping though, like just… disinterested :( But at least you got that cute cardi + skirt!
It really is a super bright & sunny shopping mall
!! H&M has been so strong these past few seasons (years)… ever since opening in Tokyo…. \
///////
The pink cardigan is cute!
Thanks!! It’s more red in person but my closet lighting was weird.
this food is wonderful!!!!! =9
I like this dresses, and i love your outfit!! ^^
xox
Thanks Jess!
Oh!! I just got back from H&M (literally)…I saw a LOT of those white with stripes tops that you seem to wear a lot (lol).
That outfit’s adorable! See, I could have passed by both of those items a million times but it looks great on you. You really have a knack for putting things together
And Mike is such a good husband to wait while you shop!! haha ^^;;
I love me some border!
It’s called “stripes” in English; there’s no point using Japanese words in English like “one piece” or “border” when your blog is 100% in English. As someone who is fluent in both languages but doesn’t try to toss in random Japanese words in English sentences weaboo-style, I find it pretty annoying. In fact every time I get really into one of your entries, you toss in a useless Japanese word and you lose my attention because I’m just sitting here being annoyed.
With that said, your outfit is very cute. I just thought I would give you some food-for-thought that there will be two types of people who read your blog: people who speak Japanese and English, know what “border” means, and wonder why you’re not saying it in English, and the other 99% of readers, who don’t speak Japanese and probably don’t even know what “border” means. I notice *everyone* in your comments called it what it is- stripes.
hime, calm yo titties.
ooh what a cute outfit you’ve bought! yeah i’m like that too, except i shop around more than stick around in the fitting room — it’s too hot and stuffy in there … and this is kind of why i like shopping by myself :( i feel bad for using up other people’s time!
