Used Mix Makeup Looks

Thursday, July 14th, 2011 | 45 Comments

I’ve been wearing accent lashes more lately and full lashes a lot less. Since they aren’t as dramatic, I’ve worn them to work all week. I’ve never worn lashes to work before because I used to only wear full dramatic lashes which is just too much for the office. But accents are good to go~~ I could tell some people noticed but they weren’t sure what exactly was different so they mostly all asked if my hair was different “or something.” LOL. No~ Celebrating this with Used Mix makeup scans

Tons more~~

I was trying to find some bottom lashes to wear, since my lashes are so short, but never found “accent” lashes ;3; Another thing! Some of those looks you can perfectly wear for the office or college. So cute!~

Accent lashes are just half lashes. You haven’t seen any? They’re thankfully easy to find in the US & I had started out wearing them then switched to super dramatic style and now back to accents

Some of my “accent lashes” are just full lashes I cut in half LOL

July 14, 2011 @ 9:23 pm

In Brazil we don`t wear it often, just the dramatic lashes for parties or Carnaval lol So is really hard to find. I need to go shopping someday to look around for it and other stuff. A question! Do you save scans like this? In folders and stuff.

I doooooooo D!

I save them into 3 folders that I upload to my phone!
1: hair & make
2: outfits (these are looks I can recreate with my own clothes already)
3: inspiration

I keep my most favorite & current looks on my phone so on days I’m standing in my closet having no creativity & can’t think what to wear I can look at them quickly for inspiration. I also use them when out shopping or when I’m doing my makeup

Yeah this past issue was like half makeup pages!! I think it’s for download at jmagazinescans but I’m not sure. I scanned these in myself so I could scan it REALLY BIG and load it onto my phone xDD

Yeah these looks are easy to wear and don’t take too long to do either

I love accent lashes since full lashes always made me look like janis the muppet of New york from flavor of love..(who are basically the same person) i need to get back into accent lashes, I love these “natural” looks, it seems that japanese style has calmed down at first it was like

HAIR DYE, LASHES, LENSES WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

now its like, sure I can do these things but still amplify my own beauty versus trying to all emulate the same look…

I just started to really not like how I looked in most full lashes and stopped wearing them almost altogether. But then a light went on in my head and I thought about the days I only wore half lashes & started that up again

Mmmm me gusta. They’re good but still pretty dramatic. I would never wear them to my office. I wear them A LOT when not at work though

Honestly, I’ve been using Ardell mostly again for work makeup!

They’ve been expanding their accent styles this year

I have some Diamond Lash accents but the band is so stiff I find them too difficult.

So cute, thanks for the scans!
I especially love the makeup styles from this magazine; they’re noticeable and pretty, but not over-the-top or anything xD

I don’t think I’d feel comfortable in full gyaru makeup lol… I love simple but pretty makeup like this~~

Thanks again

Yeah Used Mix magazine is a lot like Seda, or PS. It’s casual but a little street thrown in too. So the makeup is natural but still fun! Sometimes they use lashes and sometimes not. But it’s nice to see makeup tutorials that don’t ALL include lashes and vice-versa ALL don’t include lashes.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m doing it wrong or (okay it’s probably me LOL) something but when I wear lashes, whether it is half or full, they never seem…natural. It makes my eyes ten times more larger and my eyes get all watery. I am such a newbie. :|

jenny said
July 15, 2011 @ 1:25 pm

OK, firstly the “watery” thing makes me worry you might be allergic to the lash glue you’re using :(. Have you tried different glues but still get watery eyes? Let me know, email me if you like LOL!

The other thing I thought of is to ask if you’re glueing them maybe too close to your real lashes? When I was first wearing them I had a hard time getting them on my lash line and not on my ACTUAL lashes which would pull and could cause watery eyes too. Hmmm…. I wish I lived nearby you! LOL I’d stop by and help hahahahha!

All I can say is it takes so much practice. I’ve been wearing lashes for a few years now and I still screw up.

Which lashes are you using by the way? You might want to go with something shorter if you feel they’re “too much,” if possible.

I love accent lashes!! I need to do them on a daily basis, that would be so fun It just puts a little oomph into natural looking make up.

Haha I love when you can trick people with the way you look, especially with subtle makeup or hair changes! Accent lashes are great–don’t feel too heavy on the eyes either.

These makeup looks are super helpful. I kind of fall into certain patterns when it comes to makeup and I love how the mix it up a bit but none of the makeup overpowers the models’ faces, just subtly enhances. The lipgloss that I see in a couple of the makeup looks (curvy lip silicon) is also one of my favorites!

I love all the orange-y makeup looks~ They’re super adorable yet not over the top which is what I love about them ! Too bad orange doesn’t look great on my skin tone ; n ; If it did I’d do these in a heartbeat xD

Guess I’m off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Sephoraaaaaaaa

You’re in luck b/c they were ALL about orange lips in their summer catalog as “hot trend!” I do feel like Sephora is my Emerald City sometimes hahahahahah *please make my hopes & dreams come true dear wizard!*

Now I’m gonna try putting blush higher up my cheeks than usual, looks more dolly looking love the apricot blush, now I’m on the hunt for a bright baby pink btw, did you obtain the free people sweater you were looking for? I’m gonna go check go Daiso this weekend in SF. kinda doubting if it would be worth my time

jenny said

OMG you remember my sweater want?!? Awwwwwwww, I DIIIID! I haven’t blogged about it though, I should do that. It’s been too hot to wear lately but now it’s a tad cooler. I could probably wear it in the mornings easily with shorts/skirt

Oh my, the lovely orange-coloured tint on everything here is so much love! Love the first and the MM blush one so much! I’ve just bought a little pile of products from the Miss Tangerine Etude range - I can’t wait to try them out!

Wow, I’m really glad for this sudden surge in natural makeup looks…doubt I could pull off orange lips though, I think I’ll stick to sweet pink (and the girl in the bronze colour cheek scan near the bottom reminds me of Audrey Hepburn with that impish smile)!

Thank you for scanning these! I really like all the make up tutorials, like others have said, definitely very good for the office or college! Quick and easy make up so I don’t have to wake up super early to still look good!

LOL at your super early. IKR. That’s me on the weekends. “Oh we need to leave by 9:00?? Guess I’ll be getting up at 7:00 on a Saturday x(” But thankfully many of these take faaaaaaar less time than my old makeup looks I’ve been playing with less heavy looks like these lately and trying to get out of the habit of spending 2hrs just on hair & makeup ;__;

Thank you for sharing these tutorial scans. Maybe I should try some of these out for my work make-up. I usually try to keep my work makeup natural or a subtle version of my “weekend” make-up. I have an orange blush that I haven’t used yet. I remember using orange eyeshadow in college (along with other very bright colors).

I’ve been wearing accent lashes at work too, since it makes my eyes stand out without being very obvious or intense. My lashes are very straight (they grow straight down and a little on the short side) so it’s a hassle get them nicely curled or make them noticeable.

jenny said
July 15, 2011 @ 7:11 pm

Ditto. For a long time (and still too) my work look is still a total downplayed version of my weekend makeup. Lately I’ve been toning down my weekend look & revving up my work look and slowly they’re meeting in the middle.

These are all such nice and natural looks! I really love the second, but I can’t tell if it’s just because the model’s actually grinning that it’s the most appealing.

Lash accents sound like a nice investment. Even in my basic Dollywinks I feel like I look like I’m going to a club compared to the people around me. D:

jenny said
July 15, 2011 @ 1:07 pm

Ahahahaha! WORD. Last summer I felt just 1 set of Dolly Wink was too little and always added another set or accents on top! But this past year I feel like you do~ Even with just 1 set of Dolly Wink, even just the “sweet” version I’m like WHOA SO HEAVY, TOO MUCH.

Dolly Wink’s accents/half lash set is nice & I wear them on the weekends but still more dramatic than usual accent lashes so I never wear them to work.

It’s becoming (oh my lovely large text).. it’s becoming more common to see real life girls on the street wearing lashes these days. I too find one set too much, especially because I can only ever get half perfect and end up having to cut bits off -grr-.

I love the natural look you get with accent lashes for top and bottom.
