Brookside Gardens

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011 | 63 Comments

Sunday I really wanted to get out to the usual orchard to shoot off the rest of my Golden Half film and just enjoy a quiet morning.

But those plans didn’t work out so well.
The orchard’s summer flowers just aren’t what they used to be.  Feeling extremely disappointed and up early on a Sunday Mike suggested we finally check out the the Brookside Gardens.

Have to say I was surprised!
This is a great little public garden. Plenty of walking areas and varying collections. It was busy but not crowded. You could still just stroll having private conversation. I think we’ll definitely be back. I got the “stress break” I needed here and felt re-energized

Photos include the children’s garden, rose garden, sunflowers in the yew garden, and the conservatory.

Aw♥ So nice! You look uber cute and mini! ( ^ ^) I wish there were more lovely green gardens like that here in AZ. But no, just a cactus, big rock, little rocks make up the majority of front yards here. The closest thing we have is the botanical gardens, which is just lots of brown, and dessert plants *sad face*

Cactus sound nice too, but I understand the “grass is always greener” situation, right!? xDD

LOL it’s OK, I’ve recently come to the realization & utter acceptance that no matter how overtly mature I dress, etc, etc I’ll always come off as “cute & pint size” thanks to being hardly more than 5ft hahahaha!

It looks so beautiful there. I wish we had places like that in Arizona near me. x.x And how did you get your hair into a bun. My hair never goes in a bun no matter how hard I try.

jenny said
July 22, 2011 @ 9:32 am

Wow another AZ girl!! I worry, you guys need more vegetation to stroll through xDDD

For the bun I just do a high ponytail then tease 3 sections until they can’t be teased no more . Then twist a little, wrap around, and bobby pin! I have very thin, short hair (can only do half-up bun styles still) so trust me. If I can do it so can you

These might help http://sushi-cat.net/2007/05/31/hair-buns/

I came to the realization that I’ll probably never have vegetation anywhere near me. I make the mistake of walking to the park in 100+ degree weather with my friend today and we almost died. I don’t know how anybody could live near me x.x Arizona makes me want to cry.

Thanks, I’ll check it out!

I think the heat is seriously killing the flowers this year… Our poor little garden isn’t half of what it was last year :(

LOL. the tiny mushroom house is cute! I love going to gardens, they are a nice past time. :3 but the only thing I don’t really like is the fragrance of some flowers

jenny said
July 22, 2011 @ 10:08 am

I didn’t really stop to sniff any. I think the heat + humidity sorta washed any fragrance away here. But yeah I understand that, I feel the same about many perfumes lol

lovely pictures! best of all though are your captions for each picture LOL at your comment about Mike wanting you to squish into the house and you claiming your ass wouldn’t even fit ahahahahaha

Small little parks/gardens are often lovely overlooked little gems, especially since they’re so much quieter and scary moms+demon children free haha

jenny said

Hahaha thank you for noticing my photo titles !

I completely agree. This one is popular for weddings and photos and I can see why. Not too much of a crowd/wild kids destroying shots etc.
