Sorta Moccasin Obsessed Lately

Thursday, July 21st, 2011 | 63 Comments

Went to Tyson’s to return some Steve Madden moccasins. I was so stupidly sad over it. I really loved how they looked but when I got them home they fit so differently.

Luckily I found some Minnetonka soon after and 20% off! They had fringe details which is what I was really wanting plus the color I wanted. I’ve been wearing my pink moccasins so much I decided to invest in a brown pair. I’m actually happier I ended up with Minnetonka brand anyway.

I also picked up 2 skirts and a denim 3/4 blouse. The skirts felt so Snidel A/W to me and they were both on sale. And speaking of, I got this Free People sweater a few weeks ago too because it reminded me of Snidel inspo.  It’s more beige in person

I wore it out shopping this day because it was a bit cooler in the morning and I always get cold in a mall.

Maxi Dress - H&M
Sweater - Free People (South Moon Under
Sandals - Target
Bag - Yesstyle
Necklace - Forever 21

One of the skirts, from Urban Outfitters on sale for $20.00
Denim shirt from MNG … not on sale Part of their new collection~ It’s such a super soft and thin denim shirt. Perfect denim shirt to me.

Everything I buy recently has autumn in mind…

I’ve been on the fence about buying some minnetonka mocs. They look so comfortable! With this east coast weather though, do they feel a bit warm? I was told they are quite warm for cooler months so I was wondering if they’d feel too hot in summertime…

I dunno because I just got them. Though I bought them with autumn in mind too. I have another pair of moccasins that I’ve worn on hot days without problem.

I wish I could find shoes that were really comfortable and fashionable at the same time.

Its even harder to find shoes that fit a narrow heel!!

jenny said

Ah, I imagine. My feet are a bit wide. I usually buy shoes that fit a little big then slap heel grips on them :(

Ooh, those moccasins are adorable. That sweater looks soooo’ soft, too… I love your hair in that half-updo! It’s so adorable and fun, very summer. This is kinda strange to ask, but where did you buy that heart shaped hanger? I’m moving out in a handful of months and am looking to re-vamp my new closet with cute hangers like that one! Anyhow, I’m glad you had fun shopping - it’s a great stress reliever to just explore stores and quite an adventure!

I love minnetonkas. I have a pair of black booties they last a long time too! Also, I agree that mango was kind of fugly. I went in there last weekend, and actually they had a really cute cardigan but was way overpriced :X I love that fp sweater. I think I should get one as well.

jenny said

Hahaha there were quite a few pieces there now I’d go back & buy! I’ve gone a few times over the years but never bought anything before b/c it wasn’t my style at all. But yeah they are pricey. Like, more than Zara x_x

I had a long sleeve one last year but it was thick and the lace & leather pieces didn’t fit my style anymore so I was hunting for SO LONG for a new one! This one was perfect! 3/4 length sleeves, soft thin denim, long but not to my knees!

The Minnetonka moccasins look so cute! Too bad they didn’t fit 100% the last time I tried them on … maybe I should try them with thicker socks ;D

Your shopping outfit looks lovely! I love maxi skirts so much that I’ll try to wear them this autumn with boots and knitted tops Can’t wait for autumn!

Hi jenny! This is my first comment but I’ve been following your blog for awhile and it’s been really inspiring :3 (I have my first order of sweat bath powder on its way )
I was wondering if the Minnetonka shoes you have fit true to size? I’m considering ordering a pair online, but I’m usually between sizes so I want to make sure to choose the right size. Thanks!

jenny said
July 23, 2011 @ 7:37 pm

I REALLY hope you like your sweat baths! They can be intense but are really… hmmm, like, detoxing! You feel great and accomplished after

The Minnetonkas do NOT fit true to size in my opinion. I actually bought a 6 even though I wear a 6 1/2. I also read they stretch out a little too. So if possible try to find them in store. Many random clothing stores carry them like Urban Outfitters and American Eagle.

Unfortunately because I just got them I can attest to the stretching yet but I did buy a 1/2 size smaller than usual.

Thank you! I will go hunting for these shoes tomorrow, we have several malls nearby so hopefully I can find a pair in person

(And I can’t wait to try my sweat bath. I like my water super hot so I hope I’ll be able to handle them haha)

AAAH i saw these mocs yesterday at AE!! i was waiting for keunseok to finish trying on jeans and was browsing the shoes there when i realized the mocs weren’t AE brand, they now carry minnetonka! can i ask how yours are? i am considering getting them since it’s so convenient and they’re only $40…need to replace my black ones that are falling apart T T

jenny said
July 29, 2011 @ 8:55 pm

Mine are turning out GREAT! I bought them 1/2 a size smaller than my usual size because they didn’t HAVE my size & the 6 seemed to fit OK. They were just a LITTLE tight at first (which bummed me out) but then I read they stretched & you might WANT to buy 1/2 size smaller and I’m definitely already feeling that! Each time I wear them (I haven’t had much of a chance, I’ve worn them like twice, thrice? lol) they get looser and more comfy

July 26, 2011 @ 12:42 pm

i got new shoes too! similar but loafers not moccasins! i feel like were going under similar style changes but in different fields…im more vintage street your more vintage sweet

Yeah, moccasins aren’t really summer footwear that much! I love fall clothing best…so I understand buying for that season earlier
