Simpler Things

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 | 54 Comments

I’ve been up since 4:00 this morning. Accidentally. Second day in a row actually. Getting back to work on Monday after a mini-vacation was both a blessing & curse. I had managed to actually forget about work, politics, stresses, and calories while away this weekend.
It was desperately needed

A 96ft “Giant Slide” at Mammoth Park.
Mike’s standing at the bottom. perspective~
I was pretty sure I’d die riding it, but alas, I survived. .. TWICE.

The local County Fair

I need to get back into the swing of blogging, it’s a good distraction But my thumb is hurt too so typing sucks both on keyboard & iPhone so might be a slow start. But yeah. I took a mini-vacation to relieve stress but now I feel like I came back to more than before. Hmmm~~ I need to work harder at relaxing under so much pressure until it passes Realizing that in & of itself helps!

cool slide!!! how was it? i always end up wearing a dress or skirt when there are slides around. awkward…

August 9, 2011 @ 8:45 pm

YESSSSSS! I kept having to remind myself to NOT wear a dress this day because Mike said he was going to show me this slide!! It was freakin fast and I kept rising up on the declines/curves so I was sore the next day. My moccasins kept trying to grip as I went down too. I thought I’d break my leg eventually.

The pictures turned out really pretty! It makes me want to go to the fair , but the SD county one went away last month ;_;
Anyways, that slide looks so fun *__*

Yeah my local fair charges like $25 to get in PLUS more money to park so it’s kinda a ripoff. This fair only charged $8 and free parking and it was way better!

The first week after vacation is always the worst. And I swear, it gets worse the older I get or the more I come to dislike my job.

Good luck getting back into the swing of things ^^

Take care, Jenny bb ♥ We all miss(ed) you but it’s important to take time away for yourself too~
Looks like it was a lovely weekend nonetheless

Yeah I still feel sorta… Distracted? Like disconnected from my online life at the moment :(

I think weekends should be at least 3 days instead of 2. 2 days is not long enough to “unhook” from the stress some jobs put on our shoulders.

The fair looks like it was fun! I love the way your pictures turned out~

Holy Toledo! I hope you’re feeling a bunch better. Gosh I’ve always been afraid of getting on this like that big slide. I’ve always got in the back of my mind that there’s gonna be a big freak accident, the day I ride it is the day the freak accident occurs and I am the victim of said freak accident -_-;;

jenny said
August 11, 2011 @ 7:45 am

Heeeeey that’s the reason I don’t ride amusement park rides! Lol. Yeah on this slide you sorta feel like a risk taker but everything ended well thankfully xD

I have the same moccasins as you~!
The one in the first picture~! lol~ =D

And I love the county fair pictures,
it looks just so whimsical,
and seems like it would be lovely for a fashion shoot too~!

Wow, that slide… Is awesome! =O
You’re so brave for going twice!
I’d be a little afraid because there wouldn’t be any
emergency brake option..! haha… =o=;;;
But if it’s free… *jumps onto slide*! ^^b

Hooray for Minnetonka!!!

Yeah the fair was really full of beautiful sights, great for outfit snaps and more. I was taking a bit of a break from taking photos this vacation so I came home with very few~~

Oh yes this slide is quite free! It’s in a National Park so now cost

The slide looks like so much fun! Almost 100 feet!! I loved those slides where you use potato sacks to slide on Oh man, I’m suddenly transported back to my childhood. ^^

Ah, mini-vacations.. I need to take more of those, too. Coming back to more stress after taking one sucks - I know the feeling! I take 3 days off here and there from work and even then I have this gnawing feeling I have to keep checking my work.

It takes physically cutting myself off from the very things that cause it - usually the computer, email, phone, etc - to finally be able to relax and forget. I hope you feel better soon.

YES! People were using wax paper! I used my oversized denim shirt to ride it down

I totally know what you mean about vacation+work. I feel so much the same! I took a break from nearly everything while away. I have to do that “cut off” thing too.

Yeah sometimes focusing on being calm helps. Or telling yourself “I don’t NEED to be so stressed over this!”
Anyway~ what a fabulous fair! I wanna go down that slide!!
