YSL Pure Redcurrant Gloss

Lately I wanted to try vibrant red lips again. 
I haven’t tried it in many years because I always felt it looked bad on me. I wanted MAC’s Russian Red but I couldn’t get used to it. 
It was too bold to me. So instead I bought Yves Saint Laurent’s Gloss Pur in Pure Redcurrant. It’s a mango-scented, sheer strawberry red. I’ve wanted an YSL gloss for a long time. I used to never finish lip glosses 
so I banned myself from buying high brand ones. 
But in recent years I’ve gotten better at finishing whole tubes. 
Still, I need to remember to reapply throughout the day after eating. It’s something I try to remember so I don’t waste makeup.
I sometimes like to mix it with the ParaDo red lipgloss my friend gave me. It has small flecks or red glitter but isn’t very pigmented on its own.

Red lipstick never looked good on me since I have bucktooth….I’ll check this lipgloss out when i visit the ysl booth next time and I’m not broke! LOL!
There’s a NARS gloss that’s exactly the same shade without the scent and about 7$ cheaper. I was debating between the two for quite some time in the store xDD

I thought the same you did… It looks bad on me… but I tried the other day on my cousin’s graduation, and it looks nice. ^^
YAAY! I think maybe many of us feel this way? Scared to wear it, etc, etc. Like it’s reserved only for glamourous days or glamourous people :(

Oh you have no idea!!! I did exactly that for a lens review actually, took a few snaps and was wearing the red of course that day & put on the wig b/c my after-work hair was so boring xD

Thanks sweetie! I should. I know I do look “better” in cooler shades but I was hoping to find a more vibrant shade this time around. Now that I have one I should get something cooler shaded for more natural days

SO CUTE! i love the red gloss/lipstick looks, but i have a bit fuller lips so i feel like my lips end up looking big =_=; love the ysl red currant color though, so pretty!
Interesting enough when I had a bold too bright red on I felt it made my lips look TOO THIN. Red is a difficult color. Like an instant spotlight =_=;;

It looks REALLY good on you! I’m still really frustrated by lipsticks, no matter what I wear looks bad and that it’s been applied by a 5 year old (maybe I need lipliner?) -_- So I usually stick with glosses or, recently, I’ve been loving lip stains. Did you just go in and try this out or was it suggested by someone? I think I just need to go in and have a sales lady help me find a good red lipstick, boooo
I have to admit my lipliner I got in March has been a life saver for lipstick uses. I have a love/hate relationship w/lipsticks. Like sometimes I forget what I did to get a certain look and I feel frustrated by it. But I always add a gloss on top and usually it’s a clear one.
I went into MAC to try out Russian Red first because a blogger I follow uses it religious and it just looked so pretty on her.
I asked for assistance but she was more overbearing & rude than listening to me and helping (my fault, I usually avoid that particular MAC store b/c they are like that there, but another MAC store is way more helpful & helped me match a lipliner to the Morange lipstick I bought, etc.)
But anyway I wasn’t exactly happy with Russian Red on me so I decided to try a gloss instead and just went to Sephora and literally tried on… oh about 6 different ones. It came down to the YSL and a NARS one but I splurged for the scented YSL version
the russian red from mac is really dry! i use the one called brave red which is a bit more moisturizing. how is the ysl one though? is it sticky? i usually try to avoid lipgloss because of its stickiness which is why i stopped using drugstore brands. the only other lipgloss i’ve ever really used are the ones from chanel which are amazing
Yea I noticed that about Russian Red. It’s matte, isn’t it? The YSL gloss isn’t really sticky but more like a sheer moisturizer and it doesn’t dry out either. Really it stays on until I wipe it off to eat. It does pretty well in staying on when drinking too *quite pleased*

I’ve always been scared of red lipstick; thought it was too bold for me, but recently I’ve been eying NARS sheer lipsticks~
Have you tried Benetint?
Oh yeah I had a Benetint a few years ago! I actually was really into tints then (for both lips & cheeks!) Then I got into glosses, then lipsticks, now back to glosses.
I tried on a NARS gloss in the exact same color as the YSL. NARS makes such nice products

I normally allow myself one Dior Addict lip gloss a year but I tend to wear it most in the fall/winter.

I didn`t know how to wear red lips even tho I wanted to so bad and later I realized it`s all about the shade of red!

I can’t do the red lips either…well, I can’t get used to seeing myself in more tame make up yet! ^^;;; Certain people can really pull it off and others it just doesn’t work for. I can’t tell by the picture too well but it looks like you can work it
