Madewell Sweater

Friday, October 14th, 2011 | 56 Comments

Made my first purchase at Madewell over Columbus Day weekend. They had a bunch of things on sale, sweaters included. I tried on a few things I loved but this above sweater really fit a need I had. I’ve been wanting a good cable knit sweater. However most cable knit sweaters add so much bulk to my shape I don’t feel pretty in them.

This one fit perfectly. It’s not too boxy or too big in the pits. Also only one side has cable-knitting down the front and the other half is smooth stockinette stitching which gives it this really nice sleek look. So I don’t feel I look bloated or stacked in it. It’s extremely comfortable and soft too. I didn’t have much gray so I chose the “smokestack” version.

Haven’t had a chance to wear it this week but probably next week, at least to work maybe. Definitely gonna be great come December on~

How cute, I love the texture and design of it ^^

I totally know what you mean about sweaters adding to your shape ;o; Because of my shoulders, sometimes sweaters make me look huge lol

Yeah, I really hate looking “top heavy” in bulky sweaters the most! Like… gaah I just hate it Dx A good sweater is actually hard to find, right!!

Gorgeous ♥ It’s definitely a ‘modern’ cableknit… I hate how bulky the typical ones make me look too :( This one just looks perfect~

Seriously, just across the chest, that bothers me the most. It’s like instant flashbacks to my “old days/old size” so I get super paranoid about adding bulk. BUT cable knitting is SO classic & timeless I just love the look so I wanted a sweater like this!

Awesome purchase!!! I really love knit sweaters. Feels like they always come back in style during the cold season~ ^^ Want to see your outfit posts wearing this, .

Oooh I received the Zara shorts in the mail yesterday! THANKS~ Can’t wait to wear it when the weather in Oz warms up!

i’ve looking around for a cable knit sweater as well, though probably a cream colored one instead ~ ^ ^
shopping is so much fun in japan because there is so much more of a variety to choose from ~!
looking forward to seeing the outfits you’ll put together with this !

Ah this one actually came in cream too!!! I wanted cream first but I already have a cream sweater from Free People but nothing in gray… so… yeah, I thought about the needs of my wardrobe first LOL

Sweaters are one of the most wonderful things in Winter! Madewell did really well with it, since this not looks like a grandma’s (in a bad way, cause grandma’s sweaters are nice~) sweater, and the detail is really cute. And after looking to the other Madewell’s sweaters are all nice, cute and looks really comfy! The only good sweater i have is from Lacoste >: A black and manly one ;3;

Yeah it was actually a little difficult to choose at the time. All their sweaters were on sale and all were very classic but cool… but I really wanted cable-knitting so I decided if I didn’t buy this one I’d end up regretting it!

It’s cute! I’m also in need of new sweaters (since it’s getting cold) but we don’t have those stores in Canada. Too bad, they really have nice stuff, but I am feeling like hunting for some vintage clothes. Hope to find cute finds like your lovely sweater!

Great top! Grey sweaters are always a good staple.

I spy a cute nail job - black and gold? Nice. I’m currently sporting teal and gold.

jenny said

Yeah they’re nice, I think they’re imports too *remembers seeing them in store. I like this store b/c they actually CARRY everything they advertise in their catalogs & online IN STORES AT THE ACTUAL SAME TIME. SOOOOOOOOOO many stores advertise shit then don’t carry it for MONTHS or never actually get it in.

I hadn’t either. At first I was surprised, because it was unusual, but then it seemed sorta ingenious especially after I tried it on.

Love the cables down the one side! Gives it such a cool vibe! And I really like that color~ almost has a silver shine to it.

jenny said
October 17, 2011 @ 3:18 pm

Yeah “smokestack” really does cover it properly, better than “gray” because of the speckled yarn used

Looks beautiful! I also like things that are snug (but not too much) and cozy for going out during fall/winter. I end up putting all the baggy clothes on once I get home anyway haha
