Weekend Shopping

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009 | 59 Comments

Thank you everyone who entered the giveaway!! You guys really make it a lot of fun! The winner has been contacted. If for any reason they can’t claim the prize I’ll do another random selection.

So I hope everyone’s weekend went well. Busy holiday week coming up, ね!? Friday so many people were already on vacation so the trains were empty! We went out and did a little bit of shopping before full on Christmas shopping kicks into high gear.

Went to Tyson’s Saturday morning. They finally opened the new conveyor belt sushi place. It’s in the most awkward area IMO, hahaaaahahaaaaa. But I do like the vivid blue tables! The signs sorta made it look like it would be a fancier place but it’s pretty… boring, aesthetically? Oh well~ It’s 1: mall food, 2: conveyor belt sushi (which is as casual as it gets.)

Outfit snappy. While at Old Navy. What’s up with them always having warehouse, utilitarian change rooms?!
Dress: Colza
Cardigan: Cher
Tights: Target
Boots: Calvin Klein
Purse: Victoria’s Secret
Heart Necklace: Aldo

I got the latest Urban Outfitters catalog this week and noticed two things. 1: They’re not so hard to be all… hipster, or whatever and many of their coordinates looked wearable (finally!) like they USED TOO. 2: WTF THESE PRICES! It’s about time! Their prices had dropped significantly. Looks like targeting rich teens with mommy’s credit card wasn’t workin’ for them anymore?! Ok, Ok, harsh, but still. Their prices had gotten ridiculously inflated! Now they were looking… a bit normal! So I went to check them out and sure enough I found stuff there that was cheaper than things I saw at Old Navy that day. BOUT TIME, BOUT TIME. And anything that still had an overpriced tag had been marked down near 50%. I was wanting to get some reconstructed shorts but they were all too big. I did find a super cute Mickey shirt! I loved that it had longer short sleeves with stripes on it

I LOVED these shorts at Urban Outfitters but they were too big. So of course I didn’t get them.

Tried on a Barefoot Dreams hoody at Nordstrom’s. They don’t carry Rinka’s line, but I found some online places that do. So I went to try these ones on for sizing! Gosh, soooooooo soft! Mike braved the evil sales lady so I could try it on. She was such a lurker! Asking me if I needed help and giving me her opinions on it AS IF I CARED, GEEZ. I know, they’re just trying to make the sale but I already said they didn’t have the color I wanted. So I made her watch me take this photo of me wearing it, LOL.

Later that night we did our Thanksgiving dinner shopping. The grocery store didn’t have any pumpkin pie mix! So Mike suggested the Super K-Mart might have it and it was right next door. Well, they didn’t, but they did have room wear on sale! I got this Joe Boxer flannel romper for $7.00! It’s got ruffles, and snaps, and is really cute! I’ve always loved Joe Boxer. When I was in High School they made cool boy-style girls underwear (I was a total tomboy) that I’d wear. They were more expensive then though *cough.* So I don’t care if they’re some K-Mart line now! They still come out with great stuff that often goes on 50% sales, so whatevssssssssss!

I tried that new Starbucks Caramel Brulee Latte this morning. It’s pretty good. I got a short, nonfat, no whip (so only 160kcal instead of 260kcal.) Last Thursday Mike bought us some of the cold drink Starbucks cups with the holiday straw. It’s so cute!! It keeps drinks cold for a while so I put soda in it, LOL. He always gets an iced Americano so he takes his to the cafe for filling. Useful :good:

I love my house in winter, I think it’s a winter house~ it always looks prettiest lit of with warm candles and cluttered with fuzzy slippers and blankets.

Oh, Wii Fit Update! I’m still loving it! I’ve actually lost another 2lbs on it I’m just looking to maintain my current weight but I guess it really does burn that fat! HAHAHAAA. I’ve been using my Calorie Off socks with it too, just to use them. Maybe they’re to blame? LOL DOUBT IT. Mike’s lost a few pounds too. Who knew it actually worked, YAY

CALORIE OFF SOCKS + WII FIT!

OK, I’m off to get ready for bed and watch Dexter!

Tomorrow’s Mike’s birthday too! So, celebrations all week!!

Hi,
I am a professional artist. I am beginning a series of paintings incorporating some elements of Japanese fashion, and I am very interested in acquiring back issues of CUTiE magazine. I saw that you used to have a website dedicated to the magazine, and others, and was hoping you or someone who follows your blog might be able to help me find a place to get older issues. I am particularly interested in issues from the mid 90’s, but I know that may be extremely difficult, so at this point anything would be good.

Thanks a bunch. Great blog BTW

Jim

Hi Jim. All I can really recommend is ebay. Sometimes people will sell off 3 or 4 sets of older issues. There used to be a store near me that would sell old issues too but they’ve since closed. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Weeks to lose weight isn’t much of a quick weight loss secret, haahaa! Just eatin’ healthy & staying active! I’ve been eating healthier since last May so it’s been a slow decline in weight since then.

That’s a horrible place to put a food place… right next to escalators? I’d be paranoid someone would throw stuff down…

but yay for wii fit ^^ I haven’t used it in months and I’m dreading what its going to tell me about that…
and yay for Dexter =) Hopefully there’ll be another Trinity shuffle dance before it’s all over*dies*

Aw that dress you are wearing is really cute!

Do those socks actually work? Like when you use them does it feel like it does anything? Haha. And that shop where you got them it looks nice but how much is shipping? I can’t find it on there.

jenny said
November 24, 2009 @ 9:59 pm

Definitely adds pressure and makes you sweat faster. They’re hard as hell to get on because they’re so tightly woven! LOL

November 23, 2009 @ 1:43 am

haha. I am glad you did some successful shopping (: yeah, I agree with the whole UO thing.. it’s too much hipster… and the rich kids part is true, sadly. I really like some of their pieces though. I hope you and Mike are well, and happy early birthday to him!

Congratz on 2 pounds lost and Happy Birthday Mike!

That is really a funny location for a sushi place. Kind of weird eating between two escalators lol!
I agree with you about Urban. I only buy things there if they have a sale. Good to know they’re lowering their prices!

Jenjenjen!

What a random place for a sushi-bar! Kinda tucked in under an escalator like a little hidey-hole with mobile Japanese food. It’s alike a mini-surprise:

*comes down escalator*

*POP*

*Sushi! Win!*

The outfits are so win! But B/L to the sweater being the wrong colour - I do think the white/cream one in the pic looks cute as well!

Happy birthday to Mike

/sings

I’m sure you got him something lovely (and probably not any pretty baloons! Well, unless he likes them!)

The sushi conveyor belt made me lol I’m such a sucker for gorgeous presentation in food, especially when it comes to sushi, so I don’t know if I’d enjoy that atmosphere! The blue tables do rock though.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday week, bby~!

Wow your blackberry takes good photos!

I don’t like admitting it, but I got a great cardigan at Walmart for $10 - haha, waiting for Andy to get a DVD I was like …. “DAMN YOU MILEY CYRUS”

UO does have some great stuff, sometimes you can find the more expensive duplicates on ModCloth - and suddenly their prices aren’t as crazy as I thought

Happy Birthday, Mike

November 24, 2009 @ 10:04 pm

DAMN! My $5 jean tights are totally wal-mart too!!!!!!!! I never buy from there but on vacation it was the only place to get snacks and I saw that Cyrus line too and contemplated those black pants for work, LOL!

Ugh….like someone already said, what a HORRIBLE place to put the sushi place….right next to the escalator. I wouldn’t want to be eating sushi and have people staring at me while they come down or up the escalator. That’s just so awkward!

Yeah, I actually rarely ever shop at Urban Outfitters, mostly because their stuff is quite expensive. I think I’ve only gone to the store 2-3 times and I never went back to it ever again. LOL.

Love that Colza dress of yours. So pretty and elegant! =)

I just got the same JoeBoxer romper the other day!!! I was mixed between the green + red but stuck with the red in the end (I could have gotten both for the price but TRYING to save money, every $6 counts…. I bought black thermal pants and top to wear under it because I’m always cold + this way I can justify wearing other rompers and summers items outside the house.

I heard that old navy is in the works of changing the decor of their stores (or maybe only select stores? I don’t remember) so maybe they’ll be more aesthetically pleasing soon? I think they should cover the walls with their trademark fleece to give more of a warm + fuzzy feeling.
