Some Changes!

I’m not sure where to start, I have a lot of little things to say but I’ll keep it short.
First off, thank you everyone for supporting the short little sale those 2 days! 
I must admit there was an ulterior motive. I wanted to buy the Olympus Pen E-PL2 but felt guilty because, though my point & shoot sucks, it still worked. 
But.. it sucked so much that I’ve almost exclusively used my iPhone for the past 8 months… and maybe I should upgrade. I didn’t want to impulse-buy the Pen though. So I decided to do the sale. 
All the time & effort & letting go of some favorite, but no longer often used things, really lessened the guilt. 
I know it might sound stupid, or just my catholic upbringing rearing its ugly head, but it was what I needed to do to justify the purchase! And now I have the camera! In sexy retro’ish white too~~~ 
It was perfect for what I wanted. An upgrade from my mid-range point & shoot but not as intense as a full dslr but still has exchangeable lenses and a hot shoe. Plus the ART filters are fun w/o needing post-processing.
Oh yeah, new layout too! The last one was up for like… hmmm 9 months? A year? I dunno, forever. So I wouldn’t expect anything less from this one hahahah. I can’t believe in college I used to change my layouts nearly every 2 weeks! 
Gonna post 2 outfits from last week or so taken with my old camera blah blah will blog again tomorrow!

Yeah I really love this Olympus so far! I didn’t want to upgrade to a full $1,000 dslr but wanted something better than my mid-range point and shoot. This was a perfect fit! With exchangeable lenses and hotshoe it’s perfect!

I have to admit, when you tweeted “changes” I was the tiniest bit afraid that you were about to announce something drastic, like you were going away or closing the blog. ;A; I was like NUUUUUU DON’T DO IT I LOVE UUUUU. But then I clicked the link and everything was ok. :3
Your outfit shots are so cool… I’ve been wanting to do outfit shots in my own blog, but I can’t figure out how. I have a small point and shoot w/ like no accessories at all. I’ve heard some ppl have remote controls and tripods and stuff. I have a…charger? haha~ Do you use “special” stuff to set up your outfit shots? I can see you’re holding you camera yourself in some of your photos, but the last one seems to be from far.
I’m too shy to ask my friends or family to take pics of me, especially since I can’t get a decent photo the first time around -__-;;
These above were with my point & shoot or iPhone. I get bored and have recently switched to using my home office for the snaps instead of just mirror snaps in my closet. I usually just hold it out from me and snap it but I do have a short gorilla tripod. It can bend around things but I don’t use it as much as I used to. But I used it for the last photo real quick
Just using the self-timer 
Some others, especially while out, my husband takes the shots.
Just experiment with different styles/techniques to see which you personally like best. This is definitely a “practice makes perfect” situation but “perfection” isn’t set in stone
Play with some settings on your camera you might not usually use! My old camera had this cool “quad” feature where it would take between 4~16 shots and quad them off in 1 photo. I miss that setting LOOL

Oh I am in love with your layout! Gah! I really want that camera. I have the Olympus Pen E-PL1. I am sad because the E-PL2 has auto-focus when you’re recording, but I can make do with what I have. I love your outfit shots!
I was looking at the E-pl1 just to save money but when we pl2. Looked at the pl3 too (so light haha) Your photos always look so beautiful! I had no idea you were using a Pen!

I’ve been thinking of getting a new camera too… my DSLR is great but really heavy to carry around :S I think the Pen might be good option 
Yeah I read a lot of dslr users get it as more of a daily camera

I want the white as well, but I guess I’m hesitating because I wonder if the black lens “clashes” against the white body or not and I should just go ahead and get black. (This is such a silly reason, I have no idea why I’m feeling so nitpicky about it.) What do you think, seeing it in person?
That’s sorta your call. It doesn’t bother me BUT I was against the white E-PL3 b/c I preferred the cream gripper on the front of the e-pl2 so I’m a bit picky too. LOL
I told Mike that if I couldn’t get it in white I wasn’t going to get it at all. So yeah it was that important to me

I just bought Canon EOS550D last 4 or5 months but I only use it when I travel or attend to some event. Its kinda hard to carry it around :(( I’m looking for a new one

Ah that sucks!! I haven’t noticed any chipping. Just a few scuffs on mine even though I use it constantly.

This is exactly what put me off to a dslr. I really just wanted a ring flash and found out this Pen has a ring flash accessory so that was enough to quench my dslr thirst.

Honestly, I haven’t noticed that it had been so long! For both you & myself! But gradually I felt my current layout seemed less & less “me.” But for the past year I saw no reason to change it beyond some tweaks here & there.

DSLR is heavy to carry around and I only use it for photography events. I won’t bring it for casual outing, not worth the effort.

*nods* this is a big reason I know I wasn’t ready for a full dslr. The weight/bulk issue is sorta what killed much of my toy camera love because I was lugging 3 toy cameras around + a point & shoot on vacations & it got too much.

i’ve actually been thinking about getting one of the sony alpha NEX-C3 cameras for quite a while now, but the price is KILLING ME!! it’s actually the same price as the olympus pen E-PL2, so
i might just have to get one now after reading this post, since reading this definitely made me feel a little better
Ah yes, the Sony! Always gorgeous performance but priced to match. I got mine on a slight deal though not much but at least it wasn’t the full $599 price. If you can wait until Black Friday maybe you could find it at a better price??

Seriously I think in the 90’s we were exposed to white as being super futuristic electronics thus our LOVE for it! My sister had a white TV/VHS combo and I was forever jealous!

I felt that way too especially with some I tried on at Zara and other places. The thin material on these though turned out to not look so bad when I tried them on. Maybe you just haven’t found “the” pair yet because I thought I’d forever look dumpy in them xD

Can I bet totally nosey and ask how you got the WHITE one? T T I wanted white SO SO SO badly but they did not have it in America at all when I was shopping. OF COURSE WHEN I WAS IN KOREA they had the white ones. But also for like $200+ more. Is it different/more accessible now? Or is your version just always had the white?

I wish I had something detailed & complicated to tell you but honestly I just ordered it online. None of the camera stores kept the white one in-store (it comes in 4 colors) but they (like Ritz) sold it online in white and it was available. I ended up going with Amazon though. When I first looked they had 4 white in stock. But by the time I decided to order it they were out of stock but restocking in just a few days so I ordered it anyway because it was like $50 less *sale+coupon* And sure enough it was restocked and shipped! I guess the white is just more available now.

I am using the EPL 1! I got it in white too! like… 9 months back? The bf paid half of it as a gift for my new flying job. I was in Hong Kong about a month or so back, they were advertising EPL 3 already! Boo wooo.
But lately, I feel that it is way too heavy! I don’t know… =l

Yeah e-pl3 came out just recently but there were a few things about I didn’t like and stuck to the pl2!!

It was $599 but thankfully I got it for a little cheaper at $550 or so.

I really want to invest in a digital slr but I am trying to save the money and just stick with my iPhone now. It’s surprising how handy it can be.
You can fake it so well on an iPhone (I use toy slr app so much!) that I don’t blame you for hanging onto the cash, it was something I really thought about too because it’s so freakin much. ;__;

Yeah I’ve had people saying that the white one did/would have cost them more!? I had no idea. I bought my white one for the same price the other color options were so I guess I’m pretty lucky.
The picture quality is amazing compared to my past cameras but I’ve never owned like a $1,000 DSLR so I can’t compare it to any of those but lots of online reviews do. I really love its focusing abilities and low-light performance.
I eventually posted on this - I was a bit jel that you snagged the white! I got my Pen last christmas and had to order on an American site, ship to a family member in Tucson, who then bought it to OZ on a visit

I settled on the classic black and I still love this camera although I’m still learning how to use it properly! I’m thinking about getting a new flash to help with night life pics. I find it a bit slower than I anticipated in low light.
Anyway I just wanted to mention how much I love your blog! You have a beautiful and serene sense of style and your writing always has a positive light even when things are a little tough. I pretty much love all the items you post about so always look forward to my weekly check in
