Wine & Owls

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 | 73 Comments

I’ve really been smitten with the trend color of bordeaux or wine lately. But instead of blowing a lot of cash on wine-colored clothing I’ve decided to enjoy it through cheaper means. Wine colored tights and polish. Actually I only deliberately bought the tights for the “wine trend” but the polish was mere coincidence.

I filed my nails down recently to put a stop to some damage. I wore a clear coating of nail strengthener for about 2 weeks straight. But after that I really hated all my polish colors & nothing felt “right.” So Friday I went to CVS just to browse shades to see if I would fall for anything new and I picked up “Wined Up” from Insta-Dri. I slapped it on immediately. Gonna remove it tonight & do a more lasting job for the week. I’ll probably be wearing it for a while. Like how I wore jade for nearly 3 months straight.

The owl ring and earrings in the photos are from Bloomzy! They’re perfect!! Great match to autumn.

Dress, Tights - Target
Jean Shirt - Mango
Jacket - Express
Black Flats - Payless

I was going to do a “photo challenge” to help me get familiar with the new camera. Something like 365 is too intense BUT I saw an A-Z Photo Challenge that seemed fun! I’ll start at A and snap an object beginning with that letter until Z, obviously.

It’ll be wonderfully random!

Waah! I love your outfit! P.S. I got your package! Unfortunately my dog got to it before me. He destroyed all the pens, all the erasers (minus the swan), and the boxes. I salvaged the tin box. Everything else was okay. I was literally in tears, but what mail man delivers a package in the middle of the night?! That makes no sense! Thank you again for the wonderful package! ^^

OMG I’m so, so sooooooooooo sorry to hear that happened!!!!! T___________________T I’m glad it wasn’t all eaten & I’m definitely familiar with the destructive power of pets ;___; Eeeeh, that really blows though.

I love owls accessory! Your earrings are adorable

I have a few pro photographers who tried the 365 challenge and it is really hard ^^’ One of them gave up after a few months, which is sad because I really like his pictures! I think A -Z is going to be a fun challenge

jenny said
October 2, 2011 @ 7:56 pm

Yeah I can only imagine the 365 getting difficult & I’m nothing near a pro. Even on my iPhone I could only blog daily for like 3 months before life got too busy. ^^;;

Haha thanks!! I like mixing together whatever. The Mango shirt was like $70 but mixing them with $15 shoes balances the bank account quite nicely! The Express jacket was originally $98 but I got it on a double sale for $50 last year! I love savingssssssssss

Wow, you rock those earrings! You look so good with them~ love owls! ^^ I’ve always wanted to own a dark red pair of tights~but I only have black, black, black right now because I was afraid of trying colors in the past.

I have my Olympus Pen EPL-1 for quite some time, but I feel like I’m still learning new things about it! XP The challenge sounds fun! I also want to try!

jenny said
October 3, 2011 @ 5:29 pm

Thankfully I have a TON of colors from past years but last year & year before I just bought sheer black, opaque black & nudes! Feels good to pull out colors again + buy new ones

You should try the challenge too! I had never heard of A-Z until I researched ideas a bit.

Looking forward to your A-Z challenge. Love the chambray shirt, I want one! I’m obsessed with wine lately too but I just don’t like it on my nails -_-;; looks good on your skintone though.

I understand, I actually hated how jade looked on my nails at first then I got obsessed with it. I’m just glad I found something I don’t want to immediately remove finally!

Your posts are the closest thing I have to autumn ;_; It doesn’t feel like fall here, not yet at least. I love that owl ring, and your outfits are super pretty as always.

Ps. you have me absolutely hooked on bath salts *__*

jenny said
October 2, 2011 @ 8:13 pm

Still hot there?? It’s been SO cold & rainy here lately that it’s more like November/December but supposed to get back to more “normal” autumn weather soon. I’m definitely in full fall mode, it’s my fav season!

OOO I just repurchased some bath salts today! Have you tried these yet?

http://www.kracie.co.jp/khp/tabi/bihada/index.html

They’re good daily salts for a semi-sweat bath feeling but not completely. Though full disclosure, I also like them b/c the local market sells them so easy for me to get haha

Tiffany said
October 2, 2011 @ 9:26 pm

It’s crazy hot, almost 80 degrees -_- but it’s nice and cool in the nighttime so I guess that’s a plus? Haha

Oh I’ve never heard of them! I might have seen it, but I usually go right to the individual packets, though I know they do carry the big Bath Roman tubs. I’ll try to look for them, thanks for the tip

jenny said
October 3, 2011 @ 5:30 pm

That IS hot!

Yeah unfortunately my local market doesn’t sell individual packets. Mostly they sell these multi-packs or the Bath Roman tubs like you mentioned. Many of those are good too but not like “cool & effective” you know.

Are all these pictures taken with your new camera in this post? They look great! The A-Z challenge sounds like fun. Sometimes I neglect my cameras so much because I’m always in a forgetful mood to use them….makes me think it’s such a waste.

Lovely photos!!! A-Z challenge sounds fun!! I really wanna join in too~ 365 days is definitely a commitment lol. I did my ‘30 days of September’ but that was really straining on some days when I was way too tired!

jenny said
October 3, 2011 @ 7:54 pm

Yeah 30 days every day, definitely still intense! That sounds fun though too. Maybe I’ll do it too for December? Like xmas season would be fun & maybe motivating! I like this one though because I can mix it in with regular daily posts.

Congrats on your new cam! I’m looking for a future one, and Panasonic’s GF2 is looking good… it’s quite similar to the E PL2. I’m really into photography so I’m looking forward to your A to Z challenge.

I love those owl accessories, saw a necklace on ebay very similar to the earnings on silver and I’m dying to buy it. You have inspired me to do so! Hehe. Hope you’re doing great!

I am so into Mustard Yellow lately! The other in color of autumn! But I will only be spotted wearing them in countries with 4 seasons. I got a pair of mustard yellow leggings which I am in love with! But I only wore it to London so far =(

Btw, my sales post is finally up! All thanks to your encouragement (which is your sales post). Hahaha! I’ve been so lazy. Please go take a look? Hehe.

Ah yeah, hard to get into full autumn styles when it’s too warm. I never had “autumn” or even really winter clothes when I lived in a warmer area.

I think its smart to incorporate trend items in more affordable ways like tights and accessories, especially if you don’t have much taste for wine color anyway^^ And it was sweet of Bloomzy to send the earrings!

jenny said
October 3, 2011 @ 9:11 pm

Wine definitely isn’t a color I’d usually go for but seeing it everywhere really made me fall for it this season! Now I’ll have a few items I can use maybe next season too!
