Majolica Majorca All Night Compact

Friday, February 19th, 2010 | 78 Comments

I’m feeling pretty great still! Though at night I could really use a humidifier. I’ve had 2 in the past but they both broke so I’m a bit gun-shy about picking up another, but I probably should. Unfortunately Mike has relapsed. He had the same flu, just before me. Then today at work I found out A LOT of people have had the same virus I had!! It’s a really nasty one! Took them days & days to recover too

Hopefully he’ll feel up to going out Saturday. We agreed no more night travels (too rough on the system.) Went out last night to finally go pick up magazines and grab a quick dinner. The snow has kept me from getting out there in some time. Though I’m really missing Pinky. I got Ageha, Popteen, and SCawaii. I really need something non-gal related but nothing appeals to me enough. I know if I buy Vivi I’ll barely flip through it. Wasteful. I still need to find my Pinky replacement I guess. When PopSister comes out it’ll be a bit different, but not by much, LOL. We’ll see~ everything seems too OL, mote-kei, or rock for me right now~ :(

I wanted to talk about some makeup I recently got with my Yesstyle order! I finally got my hands on the Majolica Majorca All Night Compact! It’s nice! It can be used as a highlighter to match up with my blush! I’ve been looking for something like the Candy Doll Highlighter powder. I haven’t found much in makeup stores. Most highlighters are golden and liquid it seems. But this (though I know, it’s a Japanese brand too) works pretty well! It’s like a semi-translucent, pink powder that’s a bit shimmery but not too much! Not to mention the case is gorgeous. Majolica Majorca stuff always is.

I just put it on my cheeks. I don’t put highlighter on my nose EVER because I’ve got a big, more than noticeable nose as it is, LOL, so skip that make step if you’re following Japanese magazine tutorials & you don’t have a cute button nose. :haha:

Tori had sent some shimmering powder for Valentine’s Day. It’s white and looked like maybe that could be used as a highlighter. However it’s too glittery for a highlighter. BUT, I have to say it’s the best damn glitter powder I’ve ever tried! Some shimmering powders are too subtle, you know? When you want something really fun! But others are TOO glittery with giant glitter chunks hanging off your face. This is seriously a “twinkling” powder~! Enough to notice you’re sparkling but not overkill like you’re going to a rave!

OK~ now I leave you with a camwhoring balloon-loving pic! Taken last night. GOD I LOVE BALLOON! LOL

It felt good to get dressed for myself after weeks or either being stuck indoors, or only going to work and back which is not dressing for “myself.” I think camwhoring serves a greater good for girls’ self-esteem. I think it’s often seen as a vain thing, but I think it can really boost a person’s confidence in themselves! I’m being serious! I think there’s this confusing mantra where we want every woman to feel pretty but not express it openly because that’s tasteless vanity? Hummmm~ food for thought~

I wish more girls would post even more photos of themselves. It’s a nice way to connect with the blogger too~~!! I always like seeing a lot of pics though. Maybe I’m biased, haahaa!

I know what you mean, I definitely like seeing cute pics of bloggers; it makes them seem more real to me than anything else. I’d like to post my face on my blog, but I am a bit worried about security and that my family may stumble upon it somehow and recognize me, and, well, I don’t have to tell YOU how uncomfortable that would be. Have you had any trouble with creepers pestering you because you posted pictures/your location?

jenny said
February 20, 2010 @ 3:27 pm

Not really. I think maybe I’ve run into a person or two that might have recognized me (like at the Japanese Bookstore I go to and such.) But nothing too bad~ When I was in high school I had a web site where I said some pretty opinionated stuff. Some how a ton of classmates found it and I had no idea. But everyone was really cool & positive about it & liked it so maybe that sorta set my attitude about the whole thing.

That’s so great you are feeling mostly better, but too bad now that Mike is feeling sick again. There is just something nasty going around I guess.

Thanks for talking about the Majolica Majorca powder, I was really curious about that since they had it featured on poupeegirl. Haha. My poupee wears it everyday. I don’t use high lighting powder, but I think it’d be nice to try it if I ever have a special occasion.

I agree with you that I like seeing people’s photos (as long as I don’t get a vain feeling from them), but I don’t like showing my own photo much. I just feel like it’s so boring to look at me haha!

I love that photo of you! It’s so cute and dynamic! Your outfit and the wig look so so pretty, and I like the movement of the balloons. How lovely!

Gah I forgot to mention it was on poupee girl!! I know. Too bad it doesn’t give me the hovering sparkles IRL though LOL!

I LOVE when you have pics of you on your blog with your sexy strawberry blonde hair DD

I agree with the pictures bloggers post and the connection between readers and them! It’s fun to see people in a more realistic scope! And what you make said about self-esteem make sense: it’s fun to dress up and look cute, and since girls are supposed to be objects of beauty we may as well flaunt it anyways!?

I personally think pictures are fun and love dressing up for them; I wish I could do it more often! So I think you may have a good point!

Thatpicture is so cute!I should really get around to taking more pictures. I noticed that because I’ve been sick and on vacation, I haven’t gotten dressed up in a really long time :/

Any recommendations for a good pink blush? The girls in popteen always look adorable, but I’ve yet to find that sort of shade in the U.S.

jenny said
February 20, 2010 @ 3:38 pm

I recommend NARS Angelika. It’s been in a few of the tutorials in Popteen, Vivi, and so on~! I bought it and love the shade as a bright pink! http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P2855&categoryId=C10476

& for the record, you SO do not have a big nose! Trust me, I should know… *points at self*

I love love love your blog. And I like that you post photos of yourself on your blog. it puts a picture to the words that i’m reading.
I used to think that maybe people will think I’m vain when I do it but am now starting to dress up abit more and putting more effort in looking after myself. So why not show off this new found confidence? =)
plus also loving the wig, it really suits you. Have already emailed rina in regards to buying a wig!! Thank you so much for sharing!!

I really agree with what you said about the whole cam-whoring and self-esteem boost, but if only I have time to dress up amd look cute more often and also MONEY is a big issue, lol.

But you’re really lucky to have a job and money to afford all these cute clothing and pretty makeup. I know you’ve worked hard to achieve what you have today and I think that’s what is very inspirational about you and your blog. Many other people out there are still striving to find a job and life of their dream. I’m just afraid that someday, when I finally have the money and time to make myself look beautiful, I’m be too old for it. :(

Ms. Honeydew, no one is ever to old to take a little time to make herself feel beautiful! Don’t wait until you *think* that you have the right amount of time or money to start something. That perfect moment never comes. Work with what you got!

Is using a pinkish highlighter okay even if you have a really yellow skin tone? Because I do, but my pale-ness makes just about every yellow toned thing out there way too dark for me. Like you said, most of it is golden~ D: I was wondering if the pinkish ones would work because they are lighter, but I wasn’t sure if the pink would look okay.

I’m actually about to do a blog post on my makeup-finding difficulties, haha.

I want to cam whore on my blog, but I’m waiting for my hair to fully recover first. You look super adorable in that pic, btw.

Also, you might get this question a lot, but…where do you get your little emoticons for your blog? I want some cute, colored, animated things. My grey smilies are so boring. D:

Responding to this since I’m fair skinned, too (most make-up companies like MAC/Clinique don’t have certain foundations light enough for me, to give you an idea ) but pink should be fine.. or perhaps one that is more white/glittery/sheer.

I totally agree with the cam whore thing. Some people so critical and say it’s vain and that people who do that are self-absorbed but it really boosts confidence! I find that when I cam whore I kinda know myself better I learn how to smile better, do my makeup better~

I really enjoy seeing pictures of people too! It’s fun and makes the blogger seem less mysterious

I’ve actually never heard of it. Do you add it to drink or what?

Leena said
February 23, 2010 @ 12:31 am

It comes in a little bottle with an eye dropper.
DON’T PUT IT IN YOUR DRINK! You will regret it like I did…
Fill the dropper halfway, squeeze it into your mouth, swish with water, swallow. And drink like there’s no tomorrow!!! It will sting a bit, but when I feel a cold coming on, I take one dose in the morning and one at night. I swear it will save you!
And don’t take it with Orange Juice X( I have learned things the hard way…

Not to contradict you, but I thought the whole highlighter on the nose thing was because Asian’s tend to have flat-ish/wide-ish noses. It’s meant to contour it to look Western, right?
