Recent Purchases

Monday, October 18th, 2010 | 71 Comments

SURPRISE! 2-days in a row, what!? I wanted to share some recent purchases~ Actually went out Friday night and bought some things from Forever 21. It’s sorta strange since I’m not in the “saving for Japan” mode anymore. Though I do need to get back into “savings” mode eventually since I’m sure there’s some place I’ll want to travel or something expensive I’ll want to buy?

Forever 21 gets including some thick ribbed knit black leggings! They had some that had little knitted hearts instead… I want to go back & gets those now

Quick dry nail polish in black! FINALLY! I already have black nail polish… but I NEVER use it because it takes too long to dry *end confession* :F I even bought those “quick dry drops” from Sephora but they don’t really work too well so I’m just buying quick dry polishes at the moment… maybe FOREVER, I dunno.

Also bought a drugstore brand *gasp* dark eye palette. I felt like a total snob because I needed to replace my old gray palette which was drugstore brand too (but they don’t make it anymore) so I figured I’d buy another brand while at Target but honestly I haven’t bought drugstore brand eyeshadow in… a few years… What have you done to me Sephora!!?? *brainwashed* I got paranoid thinking whatever I picked would be super shitty and lack ALL pigment. Thankfully I was wrong, :haha: this Rimmel palette for $2.50 (holy crap only $2.50!!) is pretty damn decent! Not richly pigmented but it’s kinda nice because I wanted it for subtle smokey eyes anyway.

Pardon the shortness, middle finger & thumb nails both tore last week. I haven’t been taking my vitamins so my nails are flaking again. Usually I take extra vitamin A and it keeps them strong :good:

New shoes! Black heeled oxfords~ I wore them to work today to break them in. I’ve tried on so, so, soooooo many oxford shoes since the beginning of the summer and I usually hated how they looked but these actually looked pretty cute on! I think it’s the heel. I was really trying to get some flat ones because everything I have is heeled but I think I look really ugly to myself when I try on flats so I never end up buying any.

On the subject of new shoes… some “shoe accessories” hahaha! These below are some of the padding I buy for my shoes. The two on the left are my current favorites and I’ve bought at least 3 of each! The Tri-Comfort insoles are FANTASTIC for boots! I have them even in my WC boots. These already give you like a half inch boost in height so in my WC boots that have like a 3 inch heel I’m insanely tall! Mike doesn’t like it, LOL.

The middle set is great for heels that slip and rub the back of your ankles. I really love these because most of my heels are a tad loose and these keep them from just slipping off as I walk.

The far right ones are “ball of foot” pads. These are heart shaped instead of the usual ovals. Not sure I like them… I just bought these to try instead of the ones I already have. I dunno, I think I’d pass on these, the heart shape sucked me in but it’s almost too much padding to be honest.

[貼れるくつ用どんと] These are heated foot pads that last for 5 hours for cold winter months! You have no idea how badly I could have used these last Black Friday… or the Black Friday before! This Black Friday I’ll be in the south (so useless, lol)

New eyelash curler! Sephora brand and 100% PINK! It’s a limited edition for Breast Cancer Awareness. My old eyelash curler had kicked the bucket after years of wear & tear so this was long overdue. Though so far I’m not too impressed by Sephora’s … it’s just OK, not spectacular. But at least it’s metallic pink.

Also from Sephora I picked up a treat for myself for Halloween! It’s Philosophy’s “Bobbing for Apples A set that contains Green Apple, Red Apple, and Caramel Apple Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Baths.” Everything from this line was so expensive! So I just got the biggest thing anyway because it’s what I wanted and the 2 lip gloss set cost almost AS MUCH so screw it. :good: Plus since it’s shampoo + body wash Mike has been using it too because he’s a big fan of the 1 bottle multi-purpose thing. These were really worth it though, they smell so amazing & so autumn!

On the subject of Mike, I thought I’d post this snap of HIS Japanese “beauty” gets. SEE IT’S NOT JUST ME!! He prefers Japanese hair products over the US ones. Can’t blame him. His current favorite was WATER WAX but mostly because of the Donki store remaking that 80’s song over with just the words “Water Wax” sang over & over. The song escapes me at the moment~~

And no, I don’t live with some super organized god, I took this photo after I cleaned up after his mess

In other news I got the Purple Embroidered Back Kumatan sweater from Tori’s sell-off! It’s just in time for autumn! It hangs off 1 shoulder and is very soft and thin too so not too hot. Kumatan is on the BACK but once winter comes and I have to cover him up with a coat I think I’ll turn him around, LOOOOL! What!? The sweater is cut the same so it fits both ways. And the seams for the very tiny tag is hardly noticeable, bwahahahahaaa!

Also picked up Just Dance 2 and Kirby’s Epic Yarn this week! BOTH GREAT! Just Dance 2 is easily better than the first and I especially love the “Just Sweat” mode. The songs are eh but at least there’s more plus they have just song tunes for mostly for just “sweating” to. Not sure I get their calorie counting. Does 1,000 really mean 1,000 calories burned because that’s impossible.

So I need to play it & mess around with it a bit more. There’s bonus Just Dance routines too in the “contest winners” section & the America winner’s routine is crazy fun!!!

Kirby is Kirby. If you’ve played the old Kirby’s & you love him this is no different AND LONG LIVE SIDE-SCROLLING!

I’ll talk more about these later after having played longer~~~

Oh, and these were the tights I wore in yesterday’s post! Thought it might help to see them NOT worn to get the subtle pink color

Alright, this was too long & I’m not proofreading so… sorry?

I love those oxfords! We sell them @ work, but I dunno I don’t like the styles we have. I’ve been meaning to get some brown ones..I dunnoooo~

Also, I love those pink tights! I have sort of the same style but white with pink dots (hearts?)..though, I haven’t worn them yet. haha

jenny said
October 19, 2010 @ 1:23 pm

Yea there’s a lot of varying looks to something as simple as an Oxford shoe. The white with pink sound cuuute! You don’t see much white these days. I only have 2 pairs of white tights and one’s lace but I love wearing them. They feel so modest LOL

Your forever 21 gets look cuteee~ Sephora’s F&F sale is coming up soon just in case you wanted to stock up on more stuffs. I agree with drugstore brands too, I’m too scared to waste my money on something cheap when I could save up for something better, but I don’t know how to really apply eyeshadow anyways x;

& Mike has an impression hair product selection. All of the guys I know love Gatsby too o;

Aw thanks~ I really fell in love with soft layers this autumn so I’ll be playing with that look a bit more sorta mixing it in perhaps. The nail polish is pretty good! Wish the Insta-Dri line had put out a black but this line is decent enough. Takes a sorta coat & 1/2 to get opaque black but dries fairly quick.

Hahaha, drugstore brands are all I know. Long live the college student!

I am in love with your new shoes! What brand are they and where did you get them? Or was it from Japan? I’ve been looking for oxfords for a while. The boot version is a must since I definitely need the height. And definitely getting the foot pad if you say it adds extra height too. HAHAHA! Every cm counts!!!

Great clothing haul! Why don’t we have f21 here ;___;?

I like the way you write it’s so funny xD
also drugstore brand products can really be very good ^^ it’s not all shitty products thank god and I really like to hunt for cheap yet very decent make-up 8D I’m quite fond of the semi-drugstore brands like Bourjois, the Bodyshop etc
So I’m glad you found your pallet ^^

also great tights!

jenny said
October 19, 2010 @ 9:07 pm

Aw thanks, I really appreciate you saying that about my “writing.” It’s really just my trail of thoughts so the mere fact it’s readable is a blessing hahahaa!

Bodyshop I don’t think I’d personally consider drugstore brand here just b/c you have to buy it in-store and US doesn’t have Bourjois so I’m not sure of its quality. There’s definitely some good stuff out there you’re right! I just haven’t been buying much makeup from the drugstore so I feel sorta “out of the loop” with what’s good and at what price with the brands like Maybelline or Cover Girl~~ Oh except mascara! I buy Maybelline mascara & L’Oreal too!

YAY FOR 2 POSTS IN A ROW!!! -clap-
You’re totally the first blog I’ve ever followed religiously and that was years ago (before you got married loool) D!! Always happy to see lots of posts hohoho~ I try to tell myself to be just as dedicated with my own blog but I fail =.=”
Buuuut, cute oxfords! I agree, heeled ones are muuuch better despite what popsister/teen, and other japanese magazines say My feet just look like floopy duck feet in men’s shoes LOL.
Thanks for the tip on this insoles! I have pretty flat feet so I’ll def try those out for my shoes/boots~ Right now I just use regular Dr. Scholl’s insoles ^^
“And no, I don’t live with some super organized god, I took this photo after I cleaned up after his mess” - HAHAHA That’s totally what I thought at first when I saw the picture — “WOw, Mike is so organized!” D
I really suggest the Shu Uemura eyelahs curler! Sure, there’s a lot of hype and it’s kinda pricey (I paid $100HKD so around… $13-14cdn) for an eyelash curler but I find that it fits pretty much any eyeshape really well and seems to rip out less eyelashes!! I personally found it a bit stiff at first but I’m totally used to it now~~

jenny said
October 19, 2010 @ 10:35 pm

*0* I don’t know what to really say to that except thank you thank you I’m touched you’ve yet to get sick of me DDv LOL

I was looking at the Shu Uemura golden eyelash curler last xmas, it was $24 on sale I think I really should have gotten it =_=;;;;;;

YES! I feel when I’m walking in flats I’m flopping on the ground as I walk like a total duck! It’s so uncomfortable DX

hiika said
October 20, 2010 @ 5:04 pm

Is only the golden available in the US? Because I’ve seen a lot of American beauty bloggers own/use the golden one instead of the regular silver one. I only mostly saw the silver one in HK (and I think in Canada?) so I’m guessing it’s cheaper too thanks to the colouring LOL. And you always made it worthwhile to follow you~~~

jenny said
October 20, 2010 @ 5:13 pm

Yea it was sold through Sephora last xmas and was super hyped! But Sephora only sold a very limited selection of Shu Uemura stuff and this was probably the biggest/most popular.

Is Rimmel London a cheap brand? Haha I use that sometimes

Ray has no problem with me being taller than him - he loves it. Kinky bugger But then he is practically the same height as me so when I wear heels I’m ALWAYS taller than him, no matter what height the heel is .

jenny said

To be honest he kinda HATED hair product before Japan. He’d try some & then just toss it =___=;; But halfway through our first trip there he bought up all the tinier pots of styling wax to “try” it because “every guy here tries harder at looking good, I feel left out!” LOL Now he’s addicted and even when I buy him good US stuff (I bought him cologne Juicy Couture version of wax) he barely uses half while gatsby & other JP products he uses to the last drop :X

Courtney said
October 27, 2010 @ 12:23 pm
