Some New Makeup
Sunday, December 12th, 2010 | 37 Comments
I got the new Urban Decay “All Nighter” makeup setting spray and Benefit’s High Beam last weekend.

I’ve tried High Beam in a sample and loved it. Finally bought a tube of it because the “to go” version fits in my daily makeup bag better.
It’s lovely for winter & Christmas I think! Gorgeous shine on my dull winter cheek skin
.

UD’s All Nighter is new to me! So far…
It’s pretty damn good!
Screw using a primer!
This works just as good if not better. Last week one night at 10pm I told Mike. Look at my makeup! He said, “wow, it looks like you just put it on, haha!” Well it did.
I do think it works better on heavier make or maybe just outdoors? It stood up amazingly last Saturday when I wore BB Cream and was running around the city. At work though I’d say it performs just as well as using a primer does. I still got a tad oily and used a blotting sheet at 2:00. Maybe I should up the sprays from 2 to 4? Or maybe it’s because I’m wearing simpler makeup during the week of just concealer, powder, and blush? Still figuring out the best methods for prime results! And did I mention so far no breakouts from this? I have my suspicions that Smashbox’s Photo Finish Light primer causes me a few pimples sometimes.
I actually wanted to try Dew Me because I’ve got dry winter skin or even the De-Slick oil-control setting spray but Sephora only had the original in stock which is fine. I have a sample size tube of De-Slick I want to try first anyway.
However this week I did have a sorta break out but I know the culprit.
I broke out on my chin over Thanksgiving. I was away from any Sephora and just picked up a Maybelline cream concealer cover stick. Well I was loving it but realized this week it was breaking me out.
I finally noticed when I got zits on my face where I never get zits AND had happened to have been using the concealer to even out skin tone in that area. *sigh* I have a liquid concealer but it doesn’t work well for covering breakouts. My usual cream concealer doesn’t exist anymore *cries.* So today I bought Clinique’s Acne Solutions Clearing Concealer! I would have bought it a long time ago but I haven’t had a stubborn breakout like this in a long time! I already use nearly ever other product from the Clinique Acne line! no joke! LIKE EVERY PRODUCT.
I also bought the Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel since these zits are being incredibly stubborn.

I tested out the concealer today but I’ll know better next week how well I like it.
I also bought foundation from Victoria’s Secret today! Why? Because I use their liquid concealer and love it and it doesn’t break me out so I’m hoping the foundation doesn’t either!

Again, just bought it this morning. I tested it out tonight. Gonna mix it with my moisturizer so it’s not such thick coverage. I tried their tinted moisturizers but they didn’t match my skin enough. Looking forward to trying these out. I was able to successfully 100% cover my break out
You can still see a bit of the bump of 1 of the zits but it at least blends in color-wise now. I don’t like using my BB Cream over breakouts because it doesn’t help any in clearing it up. It often makes it take longer to clear my skin up. My skin needs to breath~ I didn’t wear makeup all weekend except tonight when I tried out the new stuff.

I received the December issue of SCawaii this weekend from a different seller this time. This seller shipped it quite nicely and it arrived in mint condition
Just wanted to counter-act all the ranting from the last entry with some positivity!

The urban decay spray sounds amazing! I might need to pick up one for a try. Cause with my current primer, good as it is, it doesn’t help my makeup last that well. Thanks for posting about it
That’s why I’m so afraid of trying new products. Either they disappoint you greatly or you end up paying for it by getting spots! Hopefully you have some luck with the Clinique products and get rid of them soon!
Yeah I’m sorta on the edge with “primers” because it’s a relatively new concept & all. Though eyeshadow primer seriously changed the way I wore eyeshadow!! I guess I always hope full face primer will be as effective but so far they’re only “meh.”
My skin is so picky I just never know what’s going to happen! I think I have it figured out then it goes & freaks out at something random
the most important thing is a person’s face ~ kekeke…
but judging people based on appearance isn’t the very best thing, now is it?

but making sure you have no acne there is important!
i digress ~
uwa~♪ you have so many things up there O_O i will never be as skilled as you….
and it’s great that the sellerof the Dec. Issue of SCawaii made sure it arrived in mint condition ~
Jenny~ you’re so lucky!!! ^^
Oh of course appearances aren’t everything! But I love makeup for myself! I express my mood through makeup and what I want through makeup! It’s not so much to be “judged” by, oh no~
Ohh, let me know how the VS foundation works out!! I actually hate wearing foundation, but in the winter I just feel like my face needs some extra… je ne sais quoi? lol
I kind of want to try this because it sounds cool, haha!
Clinique is seriously the BEST skincare line though, I 100% agree ♥
*clings* yessssss! I haven’t bought/tried foundation since I was 16 LOL, and that was a disaster! But lately I’m looking quite crappy especially with lack of sleep plus winter skin. My powder just isn’t cutting it! And I don’t want to wear bb cream daily you know? Like seriously, the cast of The Walking Dead has more even toned skin than me on those days! Haahaa, so this will hopefully be my “not too little not too much” fix.
Oh I’ve never heard of this brand but looks tempting! It reminds me I used to use a sorta powder foundation in college until it was discontinued ;_;.
uuu napoleon perdis? that’s an aussie brand
ORLY!?
Tried it?
Fantastic make-up buys!
I’m ashamed that I usually can’t be bothered with make-up really - I’m just a BB cream, powder and bronzer girl - but it does keep the breakout away (unless I’m PMS-y)
*looks at her other comments* apparently that ranks pretty high on the scale of makeup use because lots of girls wear nothing at all. Like, nothing nothing. Which is fine too of course! I used to wear less but I just love playing with makeup looks~ typically I wear concealer, translucent face powder, blush, eyeshadow, and mascara on a daily basis
I also use Clinique’s Acne Solutions Clearing Concealer and it’s really effective! I put it on at night before I sleep and wash it off in the morning and all my acne have either disappeared or have been reduced! I really like this product and I hope it will also be useful for you!
Oh you wear it at night? I bought it to wear with my makeup since it’s a concealer. I like the gel I got! I wore it last night & already the swelling in down a lot!
Yea… weird right?
But since I don’t really wear make up much (except for the occasional eyeliner), I just wear the concealer at night
not sure why but mine is a green color… and not sure how to get rid of that :/
wow I hope you don’t get anymore break outs with the new cleanser! Pimples are one of the most evilest things ever! They especially like to come around when you need to show your face a lot, ex. family gatherings! Which results in caking on foundation, which makes me look like a clown and then gets me to wonder if I should’ve put it on in the first place lol
Ugh yes! Because family gatherings = stress & sugary foods! I broke out from the 4 full Thanksgiving dinners we had. All that fat & sugar just breaks me out! :(
I don’t wear face-make-up, if you see what I mean lol! That doesn’t make much sense cos obviously make-up is worn on your face - but what I meant was I only use eye-shadow and mascara. I find that the face stuff does bring you out in spots, which is part of the reason I don’t bother with it. Ah make-up is lost on me, to be honest. Unless you’re talking mascara
he
Ah I loooooove makeup! I usually only wear face powder, not fondation, but I want a little more coverage these days
!
I gotta say, Clinique has never disappointed me with their skin care products! And I’ve def noticed my BB cream gets a bit oily over time, almost like it just washes out too! But it helps when my skins dry. I tried my bare minerals powder foundation the other day and wow…if my skin wasn’t dry enough! Even using moisturizer beforehand! Hmm…The only thing I super super love, moisturizer wise is the Clinique moisture surge. I recommend it. I’m not afraid of it clogging pores and breaking me out.
I was heavily considering going to the BE store & getting matched but didn’t want to go during xmas & am gonna try this instead b/c I got it for free (coupon!)
I’m actually a tiny bit nervous using any of Clinique’s non-acne products because their dramatically different moisturizer (the yellow lotion) gives me really bad cyst acne! :(
Oh no, I totally forgot about the yellow lotion! That stuff IS AWFUL. It broke me out!! But the moisture surge is water based I believe. No oils. Hm. Maybe ask for one of those little sample jars they could put some in and try it out? :( When the holidays are over of course, haha.
Man that sucks that the concealer made you break out! I’ve found that everything from Clinque makes me break out (& their eyemake products make my eyes swell shut!). I use the Benefit BO-ING and Bareminerals powder and they work just fine. I’m starting to think I have some hormonal thing that gives me breakouts. (maybe something weird w/my BCP?)
Good luck getting your skin back in order! : /
Ha! Good thing your mag came all nice this time! I know what a difference good shipping/packing can make because I order chirashi all the time & I want those babies MINT!
I have Bo-ing! But only for under eyes. I loved it and started using it on my face but it made me break out LOL
I break out mostly due to what I eat. If I eat a lot of sugars or fatty oily stuff the next day I always have a deep swollen zit on my face.
Clinique is so great, it’s the best stuff! I think my favorite product lately from them is their Pore-perfecting nude primer!
I was thinking of getting that tooooooooo! I was in a very “I should just buy the rest of this line” mood but I was at Macy’s and was like “eh, I’ll wait til I’m at Sephora to get points.” i want to try their more powerful whitening cream! I have the cheaper version for $13 but that other is like $50 but has amazing reviews.
Ohhh, I wanted to get that make up setting spray!! I really love the Urban Decay line♥
Break outs DD= Not fun.. Hope it clears up soon..!
Sooo many make-up suggestions, I want to try them all..!! But I’m on a spending freeze now, only grocery and house things ;O; Sooo torturous.. Hopefully once the New Years sales roll around, I get a little spending money.. *le sigh..* lol
It’s already doing better now that I’m NOT using that other concealer
Haahaa I’m on the opposite! My freeze starts New year’s & lasts 3 months ;( ;(
ooooh so that urban decay setting spray sounds similar to MAC fix+. Very interesting…. I cant wait to hear the review on the VS foundation. I really love Clinique’s concealers: I have two. One for my acne scarring and one for undereyes and they both work amazing.
It probably is, they have a lot of similar products!
LOL, the only plus side to breaking out is at least you know you’re skin is still ‘young’!
My 55 year-old parents are sooo happy when they get the occassional pimple because they say they’re “going back to their prime”. Hahaha… forgotten what’s it’s really like to be young? =D
That. Is. Adorable
my skins just as bad as yours with makeup aghhh
do you find that bb cream makes your face oily?
mine gets really oily :(
Nah BB Cream keeps my face from getting oily actually but if I wear it a few days in a row I’ll get a tiny bump or 2 so I don’t wear it daily. It’s funny, I used to break out even when I DIDN’T wear makeup! So it’s just my cheesy crappy skin :(
OOOH~ i use clinique acne solutions too, the cleanser&toner works wonders! LOL especially the healing gel
Nice new finds! The highlighter just adds some shimmer to your cheeks? It does sound nice for colder months! And Also that De-Slick sounds like it would revolutionize my life!! It looks like not much for the money, though. Do you need to apply a lot?
Take care!!
so you really like clinque’s stuff?? i had their makeup-remover and lotion for under-eye problems and i REALLY liked both. but i only had them b/c my mom gave them to me for christmas…but seriously, if their other acne stuff works, I WILL GO BUY IT THIS INSTANT. *rages at her acne*
that makeup setting spray seems SO COOL. do want doooo want
does the vicky secret come in brown? might need to try, I’m using clinique concealer but its too dark now that my tan is gone from the summer…i hate finding foundations/concealers etc etc i tend to fall in that ground of too light to use “afro-american foundation” & dark to use “white ppl foundation” & THERES NO MIDDLE GROUND, its like filling out a standardized test all over again, is there a foundation for “other…” I was using physicians forumla bronzer for like 3 weeks b4 that became too dark too, oy!
plus i seem to breaking out all of a sudden! idk..oooh right…christmas cookies…damn….
A foundation from VS is kinda shocking! I am very particular on foundation and all base make up so when it comes to them, I am willing to pay slightly more.
We don’t usually link VS with make up so it is kinda shocking for me! Haha! But as long as it works for you! =)
