December JJ Takeaways

Monday, December 13th, 2010 | 40 Comments

Ah JJ! This issue was actually buy’able for me! I was a bit surprised & maybe even a bit concerned for myself (oh no, JJ?! Am I falling in love with mote-kei again?!) But no, that’s not exactly it. :good: I wanted it because it has a great Rinka feature (after feeling left out in the cold by PopSister’s pathetic Rinka spread.) But I bought it because it had mode style coords and make and I could use a few more of those for winter inspiration. Plus sweet Christmas season styles!

I am feeling the more “sweet & girly” styles for the holidays lately. Because Christmas is such a big couples/date thing in Japan it’s hard not to get wrapped up in looking sweet, bright, and lovely! *_* Especially the makeup. Shimmering, not too heavy but not too natural either. Gold & silver sparkle!Yeah! I want that for Christmas!

So some things that caught my eye so I scanned them in~ Most of these are for my personal “lookbook” which I use to recreate new looks out of items I already have in my closet.

Ok, so Rinka did the “nude tee” for Marc Jacobs this year in celebration of the new Aoyma store opening and to raise skin cancer awareness. It was only available on opening day at the Aoyma store. It was rather cheap too, like $60.

A snap from the rest of her JJ photoshoot! It was quite lovely but very, very light. White clothing on cream background = a bitch to scan in, haahaa!

There was a really big section focusing on the 3 styles “Simple, Girly, and Mode.”

Pretty big Ena Matsumoto spread too~ Big enough that she could have been on the cover actually. A full interview, multiple coordinate pages, and rather large hair and makeup sections!!

Other stuff~~
I’m too sleepy (it’s 11pm!) to caption them so if you have questions RET MOI KNOWWWWW~~

GOOD NIGHT!

LEG! WARMERS! and furry things.. I would wear them but then I don’t think it looks right with office clothes :(

such a cute hairstyle.. will have to try

I just bought matte make up… and had a facepalm moment after purchase because I was secretly growing to like my shiny mac hyper real :/ you are right! glittery for xmas season!

LOL! You mean thigh highs? I didn’t post any leg warmers b/c I don’t own any/never plan to (I’ll go back to the 80’s only so far! )

I was looking at Bare Essential matte finish foundation, I dunno, I just love sjiny sleek makeup even if it looks less natural.

Omg, I agree! I love many of the outfits here, especially since I bought thick sock-like leggings from Gap during black friday and haven’t really had any ideas of how to wear them. (It was an impulse buy.)

LOVE EVERYTHING FEATURED ON THIS POST! Definitely going to try the hair up in a beret thing.

Oh are they thigh high!? I’m soooo happy thigh highs are back in season! I have a ton left over from 3 winters ago

Let me know if you’d like the beret how-to scan! They broke each style down into about 3 steps

December 14, 2010 @ 8:39 am

Oh maybe you meant the first scan of Ena? Which is already scanned in big! Sorry, Thought you meant the wool beret scan

I have been reading your blog for literally like three years now but never comment! I adore that hat featured in the first hair tutorial but I’ve never seen one in a store before! Makes me wonder where to find it…

jenny said
December 14, 2010 @ 8:38 am

Oh wow! 3 years!? *is shocked* Thank you thank you! I feel like you must really know me better than i know myself! Haahaa!

Do you mean the hat Ena is wearing?
http://sushi-cat.net/pics/12_13_10_18.jpg

I know. I haven’t seen it in US stores AT ALL because it’s mostly just a trend only known to EMODA :( I want it badly!!! I wonder if you could find a really expensive version at SAKS or something, but probably cheaper to just buy it from EMODA with a shopping service :(

Honestly I download it every couple of months (if there’s someone featured I like or am really bored) and it RARELY looks like this. Usually it’s more OL & mote style only like CanCam but this issue reminded me more of a Vivi issue because of all the mode and vintage looks

:o ive never heard of this JJ magazine before and i actually havnt seen it around in bookstores i normally get my magazines from =/

but i love the clothhessss! they’re less ‘bright and colourful’ compared to the clothes in popteen i reckon… a bit more mature and sensible perhaps?

jenny said
December 14, 2010 @ 8:43 am

It’s a long running magazine, it was actually the magazine Rinka used to model in regularly when she was in her 20’s. It’s aimed at an older audience than popteen, like early to mid-20’s and beyond. It’s mostly for office lady and sweet girl looks for going on dates

Cute styles in that mag! Rinka sure has a lot of self- confidence to take those pictures & get them on t-shirts! I can see why, though. Totally gorgy and a lovely body! *jeliz*

She’s done some pretty close to nude stuff before but not enough to be a gravure model, this is the most she’s ever shown before and she’s like 37!! Hope I look that good in 10 years hahahaa

Haha now that “Endless Love’ was the last thing I saw, I have that silly song stuck in my head!

I reallllly love camel this year (bought a camel duffle coat last week!) and it ’s nice to see it here too!

Cool to see the Miu Miu bag-style is still popular! Want to find a knock off like that cobalt blue one - lol

jenny said
December 14, 2010 @ 7:21 pm

Oh guuuuuurl Miu Miu always popular among OLs!! DD

I keep wanting to buy camel colored stuff but then buy white or black instead =_=;; *safety nets

Love the girly section! I agree, for some reason more girly styles work better in colder weather. Maybe ’cause you want loose-fitting clothes in summer? Hm~

jenny said
December 14, 2010 @ 7:22 pm

Or next to NO clothes in summer (like screw layering in summer!)

Courtney said
December 14, 2010 @ 11:41 pm

Yeah lol! I’m always super unfashionable in summer. I realized all I know how to do is layer! D:

Seriously & sometimes I feel these magazine coordinates would make me WAY too hot or WAY too cold if I actually wore them exactly!!

Thank you for sharing these lovely scans~! ♥
I actually would not be embarassed to wear that Rinka naked tee, haha~ I’m sure it’s sold out by now though ;o;
Also~ I LOVE LOVE those mode coords & of course the Ena interview & mini-spread! ♥ Though actually I love all the snaps you chose to share~ you always have such great taste, haha! ;D

okay i apologize if this comes off a bit crude BUT I DUN BELIEVE RINKAS TITS TO BE THAT…rooound…idk, maybe im wrong..in the side view it makes since but the one on the t-shirt looks “enhanced” simply because the positioning doesnt make sense to make artistic brain…:/

& I GOTS ANOTHER BITCHIN ABOUT RINKA- I’m tired of all these covers, don’t get me wrong, I LUVS MY RINKA, but i feel like she’s all over but nowhere to be found!! she’s like “buy this zine buy this zine, I’m totally in it!!” You buy it and its like “HAHA JAY-KAY, YO!!!” Just give me one solid magazine with a full interview a great spread…ugh shes such a tease

anyways..love love JJ, ive been digging the mote-kei I do think is because of the layering…and all around cuteness & my favorite cord has to be 3rd one after the rinka spreads in the far right. I have very similar shoes but its nice to see such dark shoes coordinated with different tastes than just a mode look & I also love the mode look with the sailor shorts…cute cute!

This is very useful Jen love! I don’t own any winter wear but I need to get them soon! So now I know how to go about matching them!

I got a question though, they are bearing their thigh! In 8degress c, is that advisable?
I love the short skirts or shorts with thigh high socks and booties/heels look!
