Purchases from this weekend!

Monday, August 9th, 2010 | 43 Comments

This is gonna be one of those ADHD-type entries where I barf onto you all my random thoughts of late!

My face started to peel a bit today from last week’s sunburn. sigh. I moisturize morning, noon, and night but sometimes there’s no stopping the inevitable. It doesn’t look bad! It’s just dry like winter’s skin and I’ve scrubbed it all away. Though hopefully now my face will even out in skin tone. It’s still a bit blotchy red =_=; :F I really didn’t get much of a burn on my face, so I’m sorta surprised. Oh well. C’est la vie~

I bought Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer Light this week! I tried a free sample & loved it but was hesitant to spend 40$ on a full bottle! Thankfully I saw that in-stores they have .5 ounce tubes for 15$!! Perfect! Just enough to try out & be certain it:

  1. doesn’t break me out
  2. is worth the moolah

I also got the VIB “swag bag” from Sephora. It has 7 deluxe samples in it plus 2 cute pins! They were only giving these away for 3 days. It was also double points weekend too! Whoot!

V.I.B. bag contains:
two Sephora buttons and the following 7 samples:
Clarins Multi Active Serum
Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener
Laura Mercier mini Nude Tinted Moisturizer
Urban Decay Stardust EyeShadow Retrograde
SEPHORA COLLECTION Atomic Volume Mascara
Dr. Brandt Collagen Booster
Phyto Phytodefrisant

Obviously I wasn’t trying my best at saving money :F for Tokyo this past weekend, lol. But it’s OK

I bought a new cotton camisole bra or Weekend Bralette at Victoria’s Secret as well as a new tank top! It’s like my favorite black tank from them only striped. Well you can see that obviously. I’m being pointlessly descriptive, hah! I had a 10$ off coupon + free cotton panty~

Then a few days later I bought this outfit! I knew once I tried this combination on I’d be buying it~ It’s a separate leather vest and onepiece short sleeved jean shirt. It feels a bit autumn to me don’t you think! I look forward to pairing it with my black boots & fun print tights. :good:

Side note, I really want a pair of black or leopard Dr Martens still :X. But I’ll wait to see what I find in Tokyo~

Then I saw this onepiece in the latest Vivi today!
Haahaa~ It looks SO similar!

I got my PopSister in last week but my neck hurts a bit too much still to hunch over my scanner. Want to scan in my favorite looks soon

Tokyo this weekend!?!?!? Waaaaaaaaa have a super fantabuloustic time!!!! Can’t wait to see all the pictures!

I’ve actually heard good things about the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer from a friend but I’ve never tried it oTL but since you said it’s worth it … hohoho.

Hm. All this Sephora stuff makes me want to spend all my monies on beauty products ;_;

LOOVEEE THE COORDI! Screams Autumn Rock to me! They’d look great paired with some Doc Martens I’ve been thinking of getting some as well .. I want the flower print ones so bad haha.. OR THE GOLD ONES but oTL I’d have to wear a lot of gold and black for that to match.

I really wish it was this weekend but it’s more like 2.5 weeks away ;_;

Oh the gold ones are nice too! I know my biggest concern is matching the Docs with lots of coords so I think black would be smart but leopard would be LOVELY.

omg haha i bought a jean dress-shirt really similar to that a couple weeks ago!! AND you’re pairing it with a vest just like i’ve been wanting to doooo omg jenny~ it looks super cute! (though the reason i haven’t bought a vest yet is just the reason you said…it seems more autumn & winter than summerish. waa)

oh i need some of those bralettes…comfy looking~

jenny said
August 10, 2010 @ 6:43 pm

I saw that today on your blog! LOL omg twins hahahaaa! I got the vest from Target too! I rationalized the purchase b/c “it’s an entire outfit” LOL

The bralettes are like 2 for 24$… I should have bought 2, I LOVE mine.

I’m not a fan of the Smashbox Primer Light, I feel it’s similar to the regular. I’ve been using their AntiShine for years and LOVE it. It works like a primer in that it gets my makeup to stay on my face (without the feeling of grease on my face) and keeps my face from looking shiny for an extra two hours or so compared with not using it. And a little bit goes a long way, it takes me about a year and a half to go through one tube and I use it 6 days a week. The only minus in comparison to the primer is that my skin doesn’t feel like silk when I touch it (just the same as usual).

I wanted to do some Sephora shopping this weekend for all the stuff they were giving away (those swag bag buttons, the extra Insider points! They really wanted people to shop this weekend!!) but held back so I could save $$ since I didn’t NEED anything. I’m kind of regretting it now..

I really like how you arranged the WC bag to be tote-like above!

I think you should get the black Doc Martins! They’re so classic, always come back in style + they last forever (it’s easier to throw on shoe polish to fix up black as opposed to leopard print shoes….

Ah I see. Yea I bought the “light” version because I read the original was bad for acne-prone skin so they made a “light” version for people like me (everything breaks me out so I’m always super paranoid!)

That’s the exact same stuff I was looking to try this weekend! Smashbox has like, 5 different kinds right? Correcting, sheer, redness reducing etc - hmmm which to get??

I’m also looking for a primer with spf, but i think those are expensive, too

Yeah printed docs!! I reaaalllly want the black ones with the floral print *DIES*

jenny said
August 10, 2010 @ 6:46 pm

Yea! The red reducing green one looked cool but I got “Light” since it’s for acne-prone skin and I was paranoid bout trying it out. Especially so close to a vacation! My daily moisturizer has an spf so I didn’t even think about primers with spf! :O

AWESOME HAUL!! ♥♥
I’ll definitely have to try that Smashbox primer~ I’m used the one from Too Faced right now, but sometimes it makes my skin feel heavy for some reason
Loving the stuff you picked out at PINK & also the a/w code, haha! Looks so badass with the leopard tights! ;D

jenny said
August 10, 2010 @ 6:48 pm

Oh is that Too Faced one the “That girl!” one is that Benefit? Anywho~ I tried a Sephora brand & some other brand’s primer (I had a huge batch of 1-time primer samples) but I ended up liking Smashbox’s best!

I don’t know what it is about free samples, but they bring out the horder in me. I just have to keep them and never use them! But those samples from Sephora looks so great it’d be hard to resist keeping them forever haha.

That outfit you got with the denim long shirt and the leather vest is really cool, I think it will look great in autumn like you said. And it is such a close match to that Vivi image!

Tell me about it, I keep some around SOOO long without even trying them! Not sure what I’m waiting for

I wish they do freebies like that too!! I love freebies! 2 weeks ago Lush had a free sample thing happening and I was tempted to go back in there after and pretend I haven’t gone in yet !

Anyway the new outfit looks really cool! Hopefully you can find a similar pair of shoes to the Dr Martens in Tokyo~ I’m sure there are heaps of cute and cheap ones!!

jenny said
August 10, 2010 @ 6:57 pm

The freebies are seriously the only reason I still shop at Sephora

Woot! Lovely outfitsssssssssss!! Totally adore the tank combo. Very summery and easy breezey Looks soopar comfy

WAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH. I can’t go to Sephora. They destroy my wallet everytime. Tomato usually grabs me and rushes us past when we go to the mall HAHAHAHAH IT CAN’T BE HELPED. Oooh, the primer…I think I’ll have to try it. It works well on oily skin? Cuz my powder always melts off… NO MAKE SUMMER! It’s so damn hot (dies)…

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh! Autumn, please get here soon and STAAAAAAAAAY FOR A WHILE! This heat is killing me. (dies some moooooooore)

jenny said
August 10, 2010 @ 6:59 pm

Thank you thank you!

I know! On days I’m NOT at the mall for Sephora I gotta keep my head facing forward & walk fast past it!!

This primer is actually made for us oily skinned folks ! My face + make take longer to get all oiled up when I’m wearing the primer and my powder doesn’t just melt off either thankfully!

Sephora is evil. Oh oh! I just realized the Defrisant! WAAAAA! I was so upset when I heard Bubbles was going to DISCONTINUE carrying Phyto…Defrisant is one of their BEST products!! It actually works pretty well (put on damp hair, blow dry & flat iron to smooth/finish, reduced a LOT of frizzies!)

I’ll have to try out the Primer…though I think I’ll just put off wearing makeup until it cools down…..so hot…

But luckily it rained the past two days so it’s cooling down

That’s a really cute tanktop! We’re finally having a Victoria Secret opening here in Toronto. It was expected to open in August ‘10 but the last time I checked in the mall it hasn’t opened yet. I’m excited to see what they’ll have in the store.

That rock outift is cute! I sometimes like the rock style for spring/autumn. I’ve actually been looking to get a leather jacket for the longest time but I just haven’t found one that’s worth buying or is at an affordable price.

Aw just in time for the fun winter items perhaps then!? I wanted a leather jacket last winter but I kinda looked stupid in them~ so I opted for the vest this season, haahaa

Wha! You got that set at VS?! Despite living in the DC area, it seems that I am not shopping at the right one…

But you look so good in that coord! I wish I were more petite so that I could pull off cool loose looks like that as well!

Docs would really pull it together for a nice fall look… I hope you find some good stomper boots in Japan~ 笑

The freebie set or the tank & bra set? The freebie is from Sephora but yea, tank + bra is VS

Thanks! I hope so too!

Love the VS tank!
Oh…what’s a VIB bag? We don’t have that in my country. But I love these types of goodie bags! Would love to try the laura mercier tinted moisturizer too!

Love your coordinates too. Especially the jeans shirt dress.

It’s a made-up term Sephora created like VIP only VIB (very important beauty insider) or something silly

Sorry about your face - I hate how dry winter-skin can get too, definitely dreading the colder months too!
Ah, I wish I could get a hold of popsister here! The bookstore I go to doesn’t sell it, I guess I’ll have to get it online if I realllllly want it…! -o-;;;
