Obsessed with Navy Blue

Tuesday April 03, 2012

Ended up buying a few things for spring on sale this past Saturday. Things I wanted & kept in the back of my mind. Happened to find them all on the same day. I realize I’ve been buying a lot of navy blue lately… not on purpose, it just keeps happening. lolol

Denim shorts from Madewell. Really wanted to get some new denim shorts. The only other pair I had were my pair from WC and I wanted something less distressed.

Navy dot tee & navy stripe sweater from Gap. I spotted this sweater weeks ago and really loved the texture and color. I already have a navy/white sweater from UNIQLO but when I saw this was on sale now I went ahead and got it.

The dot tee reminded me of the sweaters Madewell had this winter. I don’t really have many basic short t-shirt tops for summer (really on my Rinka tee and my old silver tee come to mind.)

Dress is from Zara. I was on the hunt for a new “perfect” dress. Something non-sheer, easy to throw on, long enough for the office, simple enough to pair with a sweater or cardigan, short sleeved for summer wear. I love that it’s a dark color but still feels “summer” because of the palm trees. The trees remind me of those stickers you could get from the tanning salon. The hem is a subtle high-low type which I liked for a little extra coverage in the back.

Just what I threw on Saturday morning for brunch then shopping

Brunch.
Shrimp and Grits – creamy Cheddar grits, Andouille sausage, sauteed shrimp, poached egg and Creole tomato sauce

Flipped my Beautiful People calendar tonight.
Really can’t believe it’s already April…

It’s a silent obsession! I didn’t realize it until I pulled everything out when I got home. I bought a dot tank recently too in navy blue.

I especially like the polka dot shirt, it’s fun and comfy.

Yes, it’s already April! So crazy…

You are really in love with madewell, aren’t you? You’re buying so many things by madewell lately! ♥

    • jenny says:

Madewell really matches my style tastes lately more than any other store. I’d LOVE to be able to shop at similar stores like Kastane easily but can’t without high overseas shipping charges. And other stores like APC are just too expensive for my liking. So Madewell meets all the right requirements :D! My only complaint is that their sizes run big (and worse, tall) so many dresses/slacks/skirts I like just don’t look good on me so I have to pass on them.

  10. The striped sweater is way too pretty :D

  11. Twinkle says:

:3 We are on the same wavelength… I got that striped Gap sweater a couple of weeks ago! It’s already starting to warm up here in Texas but they always blast the A/C in the office so I’ll be able to wear it for a few more weeks.

The Madewell shorts are awesome, aren’t they? I live in those and the lighter wash ones all summer.

    • jenny says:

Same, it can get cool here at night even in summer or at least in the office or shopping malls the AC is always full blast & I get cold! It’s a chunky open knit, so I think it’ll serve us well \:D/

  12. Cindii says:

    Mmm those grits look good!

  13. Mary says:

You always find the best clothes ever!! Those denim shorts are so perfect…I been looking for ones like that, but never find it! *w*

    • jenny says:

It took me a while. I looked all over with no luck and finally looked at Madewell. I was worried because I wanted something a little cheaper but I ended up going on a “sale” day for shorts and I got them at a discount so it worked out!

I love the Gap striped sweater! :) I’m totally over at the Luffpuff website browsing their iphone case selection. Hmm~

  15. Tori says:

Such lovely gets~! That dress & polka dot tee is too adorable.
Your hair is looking gorgeous btw! :)

  16. Michelle says:

Oh my gosh I love that sweater and your polka dot tee! I feel like if I were to ever wear anything with palm trees, everyone would ask if it’s from my boyfriend (he lives in Hawaii) x__x haha! n__n

  17. Minny says:

That dish looks delicious, what are grits??

  18. Cassandra says:

Ah, that dress is so cute! I always feel like wearing something more nautical when it’s springtime-navy and pastels seem popular this time as well. Maybe that’s why you’re buying a lot of navy…? I really like your layout as well, it seems somehow refreshing?

    • jenny says:

I’m trying to wear pastel (as I have a bit of it and prefer it right now) but come high-summer I’m all about bright reds with navy blue and white!! I don’t feel pastels carry into summer very well for me personally.

  19. Hannah♡ says:

Those Madewell shorts are simply cute! I like how deep the color is. Perfect not only for spring, but summer, too! It’ll be fun to create nautical-themed outfits with. :)

  20. MissFeelo says:

I tend to buy a lot of peach/pink clothing (ironic since I’m not a fan of the colour) but I think it looks good on me, so it’s probably the same for you! Navy blue is a good staple colour to have anyway!

I’ve never had grits before.. shrimp and grits looks yummy!

  21. Kate says:

Ahh navy has always been one of my favourite colours to wear. It looks so great with red and/or white. And it looks great on redheads! So…. I’m sold ;)

People never having had grits just boggles my mind! I’m another Southern gal, though.

    • jenny says:

Hahahaha! I know. Well it’s a running joke that it’s only a “southern thing” but when you find out it’s actually pretty true it’s a bit disappointing. Missing out on a great breakfast item!

  22. Courtney says:

almost everything i buy/own ends up being navy or grey…haha those were my go to colors for a long time but I’m trying heavily expand (because really i couldn’t wear more top and bottom without clashing! haha) :) needless to say i understand being surprised everything you bought lately was navy…it goes really well with a lot though :)
