Current Favorite Items

Sunday, January 15th, 2012 | 68 Comments

I haven’t posted outfits in a while. Currently my favorite pieces include this brown floral-print dress from Elli’s Cabinet on Yesstyle and this navy blue “windownook” sweatercoat from Madewell.

The new bag is similar to my other favorite satchel but it’s smaller and lighter and was a Christmas gift from a friend! It’s also a 3 way bag and can transform into a rucksack I’ve enjoyed using it lately when I don’t want a full heavy purse on me.

Sweater - Madewell
Dress - Yesstyle
Tights - S-LEG
Flats - Payless
Belt - Target
Bag - ~Japan

Cardigan - Madewell
Blouse - H&M
Jeans - F21)
Flats - Payless
Bag - ~Japan
Earrings - Marc by Marc Jacobs, Majorica

Sweatercoat - Madewell
Dress - Yesstyle
Tights - TRAIN (imomoko)
Boots - Old Navy
Belt - Target
Bag - ~Japan

I’m going to organize my closet a bit tomorrow. Though I have the day off I have to be home all day because some contractors are going to be repairing a ton of damage that’s left over from some plumbing work. It’ll probably take at least half the day for them to finish.

Been missing your outfits snaps. I’m loving all of these outfits~ I just bought the same navy sweatercoat and I’m wondering if it runs true to size? I bought another sweatercoat from them and found it ran suuuper oversized for me.

jenny said
January 16, 2012 @ 9:26 pm

Madewell in general runs big IMO. I’m always having to buy xs or 0 and even then sometimes the items have a loose fit. I find this to be true in nearly every item. And their skirts, dresses, etc are almost ALWAYS super long on me even in the smallest size (I’m 5′1″ I just sent a pair of jeans I got there to be hemmed, they’re having to take off 6″ just to get the things to come to the floor! It actually changed the fit of the jeans a bit too, oh well. Relaxed jeans instead of straight cut now haha!

Margo said
January 16, 2012 @ 10:12 pm

Yeah, it’s true. I usually take an M and had to exchange the sweatercoat for an XS and I was shocked, though their cotton button-ups (for me) seem to be quite slim (but I’m busty). I don’t have a physical store close to me, so now I’m quite cautious about sizing when I order online. :/

Thank god they have free hemming, right?!

jenny said
January 16, 2012 @ 10:14 pm

Ah!!! You think they have free hemming too!!! I thought so too but they charged me $20 and said they never had free hemming. I’m just so confused bc I could have sworn it was free too :O?

(Comments wont nest below this level)
Margo said
January 17, 2012 @ 9:57 am

Definitely not true! I RECEIVED free hemming from them on three occasions, so they had it at least up until this past spring. They advertised it a lot when I first started shopping there. How odd. I wonder why they would stop offering this service. It seemed like a good selling point for their denim to me!

jenny said
January 17, 2012 @ 11:10 am

Ah see! This is so freakin frustrating to me! I don’t care that it was $20 but I seriously thought it was free but now when I search for it it only comes up as free during certain denim sales huhuhu x(

Eeee I love the bag that your friend got you! Makes me want to really get one now, I’ve been wanting to get one like yours since last year, but haven’t really seen one that I’ve fancied with nice material. Gotta love multi functional wear bags!

Btw your hair looks pretty when worn up and you look lovely in the outfits! :3 x

jenny said
January 16, 2012 @ 9:45 pm

Awe thank you. I wish I wore my hair up more but I get headaches easily. I have some new hair ties though that are more gentle so I can wear it up more often!

jenny said
January 16, 2012 @ 9:47 pm

Thank you~ winter colors And yes, it DOES make it easier to match. This dress came in navy as well which I really liked too but this reddish brown shade seemed easier to match for cold days and it’s long-sleeved anyway

Isn’t it awesome when you find wardrobe staples that just WORK? Makes me feel so silly/guilty for being one of those people who used to think rewearing something was the ultimate sin I love how you put all of these together ♥
Good luck with the contractors tomorrow too! Sounds slightly annoying, ugh…

jenny said
January 17, 2012 @ 1:40 pm

huhuhuhu I used to totally feel like that too!? Seems insane looking back on it now.

The contractors took all. day. From 8am till past 4:00 but at least it’s DONE! Just letting the paint dry!

Oooh! Organizing! I Love when you do posts on that! I always feel so inspired after reading them! Your organizing style is just so…. visually pleasing.

But, something I must ask!…. what brand / cut / fit pants do you buy? You’ve said several times that your quite petitie,( as i am too.. ) and I really love the way your slacks look & fit.

Those black ones above, are those peg legged? Cigarette? Or are you just rolling up straight leg trousers? Whatever you do, please share you did another post a while back, you were wearing.. a blue blouse, khaki pants and, if I remember right, a grey pola dot cardigan, those whole outfit looked lovely and I have been trying to find some bottoms with a similar fit e
ver since I saw that post.
Jenny, your style is delighful!

jenny said
January 17, 2012 @ 2:11 pm

I have to shop around a lot for pants that fit. These are black denim skinny style that I’ve rolled the bottoms up a lot. The other khaki’s were fitted skinny khaki’s that I also rolled up. The only pants I have that I don’t ever roll are my cheap f21 skinny jeans with zipper cuffs. I just unzip them half way at the bottom. I have some relaxed fit JCrew matchstick cords (in “short” size) that I roll when wearing flats but if I’m wearing 3″ heels I can leave them unrolled. I basically roll up any style as long as they aren’t too wide. It’s more out of necessity than fashion sense. c’est la vie~~

This reminds me of those magazine spreads where they take one piece and mix and match it to make many outfits! I always loved those…so this is a really cute idea! I flat out love the dress, too…I want to find something flowy and long like that too. Plus the pattern’s adorable.

jenny said
January 17, 2012 @ 2:14 pm
